Chapter 126: The Grand Begging Scene
The car stopped, and a group of people hurriedly got out.
Joe, the mayor of Lindwood City, led the way. His forehead was covered in cold sweat, his expression filled with fear, and his legs trembled slightly as he walked.
Following closely behind Joe was Arnold Sanders, the chief of police of Lindwood City. He was also in a state of panic, gasping for breath. He had been in the restroom when he received Joe's call, and he rushed over in a hurry, barely having time to pull up his pants.
Arnold couldn't understand why a tycoon like Mr. Watson would come to a small place like Lindwood City, especially without any prior notice!
Soon, when Joe saw Wade and the commotion, he instantly figured it out. It must have been that bastard Wade who offended Mr. Watson!
"Joe, Arnold, why are you here?" Wade saw Joe and Arnold and quickly walked up to them, speaking respectfully.
But Joe and Arnold completely ignored him and quickly approached Herman.
"Mr. Watson, it is a pleasure to see you. What brings you here?" Joe greeted first.
"Mr. Watson, it's an honor to have you here. Why didn't you inform us?" Arnold added.
The two of them bowed in front of Herman, their posture extremely humble, their faces full of reverence and flattery, a stark contrast to their usual high-and-mighty demeanor.
Seeing this, Wade was stunned, his body trembling with fear.
Steven wasn't much better off; he was extremely anxious, almost on the verge of tears!
As for the others of the accomplices, they were filled with regret to the extreme.
They couldn't imagine there was someone who could make Joe humble!
Not just them, but the onlookers were also in disbelief.
Dennis and Kaitlyn were equally shocked, unable to recover for a long time.
Herman's face was full of anger. "The officials of Lindwood City are really arrogant. Even a deputy chief dares to disregard the law and threatens to throw me in jail!"
Hearing Herman's words, Joe and Arnold were so scared they almost fainted, nearly kneeling before Herman.
Arnold immediately turned around and slapped Wade hard across the face. "How dare you disrespect Mr. Watson!"
Arnold's slap was filled with anger, and Wade was knocked to the ground, his face swelling up.
But Wade didn't dare to get angry; he was already crying out of fear.
Seeing this, Steven could barely stand. He never imagined things would escalate to this point!
Those standing with Steven quickly distanced themselves from Wade and Steven, expressing their regret.
Joe took the initiative to admit his mistake. "Mr. Watson, it's my negligence. I will make sure to give you a satisfactory explanation!"
Herman said discontentedly, "Joe, watch your words. It's not about giving me a satisfactory explanation; it's about giving society a satisfactory explanation!"
"Yes," Joe replied and nodded, sweating profusely.
"Also, you're Wade's superior. I need you to write a detailed investigation report and send it to my secretary by tomorrow. I want to thoroughly investigate any other illegal activities you and Wade might be involved in!" Herman said to Arnold.
Arnold was on the verge of tears but had to put on a grateful face, nodding repeatedly while inwardly cursing Wade.
Joe wiped his cold sweat and cautiously asked Herman, "Mr. Watson, is there any specific purpose for your visit to Lindwood City this time?"
Herman didn't answer Joe. Instead, he did something that shocked everyone. He walked up to James, took a deep breath, showed a grateful expression, and bowed to James.
"Dr. Smith, thank you for saving my father-in-law. I am immensely grateful. I misunderstood you earlier, and I hope you won't be mad at me," Herman said sincerely.
The scene made everyone silent.
The previously noisy scene fell into absolute silence. Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief as they stared at the scene before them.
Especially Joe and Arnold, who knew Herman's identity. He was a well-known tycoon in the Emerald Isle City, and now he was bowing to James?
The world had gone mad!
Dominic and the three department heads felt extremely bitter and regretful. They kept praying that James wouldn't hold a grudge against them!
But they knew the chances were slim. After all, they had often mocked James over the years!
Especially the last time when they framed Jennifer to please Jonathon; it must have made James hate them.
Now, they wished they could slap themselves.
As for Dennis and Kaitlyn, they were equally stunned, unable to recover for a long time.
'Is this still the same useless James we know?' they thought.
This transformation was a huge shock to everyone. Many people present knew James and had mocked him before. For them, this was incredibly shocking.
Jennifer was the quickest to react. She remembered what James had said to her before. It turned out James wasn't lying; he knew it.
For a moment, her heart was in turmoil, no longer calm, as if Pandora's box had been opened.
James was also a bit surprised. He had guessed that Herman would come to find him, but he hadn't expected Herman to pay him so much respect.
James quickly said, "You're too kind, Mr. Watson. Saving lives is our duty as doctors. I just hope you won't blame me for taking the initiative to treat Mr. Edwards without informing you."
James's attitude was equally sincere and humble, which made Herman like him even more.
"I feel ashamed, Dr. Smith. If it weren't for my father-in-law's reminder, I wouldn't have known that you were the one who saved him. I almost got deceived by someone else," Herman said, feeling very guilty.
No one dared to make a sound. The way they looked at James had completely changed.
Herman thought about the current situation and asked, "Dr. Smith, what do you think about these people? If you want, I can take care of them for you."
A cold light flashed in his eyes.
Wade, Steven, and the others looked at James with pleading eyes after hearing Herman's words.
James smiled and asked Dennis, "Dad, how do you want to handle them?"
Dennis was excited when he heard this. Seeing everyone's respectful and envious looks, he straightened his back and felt extremely proud.
