Chapter 393 The New Professor
"Hey, how's it going?" James asked, his eyes twinkling with curiosity.
Arianwen didn't show any emotion and stayed silent. She just walked over to James, clearly ready to head out with him.
James couldn't help but check out her outfit again. Compared to yesterday, she looked even more stunning and had this extra feminine vibe.
Yesterday, she was rocking a dress, giving off that high school girl look. But today, she was in jeans and a short-sleeved shirt, looking more like an everyday woman. Her hair was tied up too, making her look totally different from yesterday.
James had been residing with her for a month now, encountering her daily. But today's outfit still took his breath away, making him want to steal a few more glances.
He suddenly realized that when it came to looks, Arianwen could hold her own against any woman he'd ever seen. She usually wore that night outfit, which really downplayed her charm. Now, just by dressing normally, she had this new, irresistible allure.
James got a bit curious. If Arianwen wore something like an evening gown or a camisole, wouldn't she be even more stunning? Once that thought popped into his head, he couldn't shake it.
He thought to himself that if he got the chance, he'd definitely try to convince Arianwen to wear an evening gown or a camisole.
"What are you thinking about?" Arianwen noticed the mischievous look in his eyes and asked suspiciously.
James quickly put on a serious face and said, "What could I be thinking about? But your outfit today is really nice, you look like a college student."
Arianwen's eyes briefly showed a hint of surprise and shyness, but she kept her cool on the outside.
When they got to the medical school, the moment she stepped into public view, she caught the attention of countless students. Some college kids who were filming videos on campus even turned their cameras towards Arianwen.
Actually, Arianwen's presence was a huge hit with these college students. Her appearance and figure were one aspect, but it was primarily her aloof and reserved demeanor that was truly captivating.
"Did you hear? There's a new professor giving a lecture today."
"What's the big deal? Our professors change all the time. The one who transferred here last month is already gone."
"Yeah, who cares about the professor? We still need to sleep. I didn't go to bed until after three last night, so I'm really tired today."
"I'm starting to regret choosing medical studies here. There are so few girls! Look at the lecture hall now, out of about five hundred students, there are only a few girls. Most of them aren't even attractive. It's so miserable!"
"Don't say that. I regret it too. Ever since I chose this major, my relatives have been saying there's no future in medical studies here."
Several students started complaining, regretting their choice of major.
Some argued back, "What are you all complaining about? Who says there's no future in medical studies here? If you study well, there's plenty of future. Health and fitness are trending now, which is very beneficial for medical studies here. If you manage it well, you can make a lot of money."
"You're just in it for the money. I chose to study medicine to make a difference in the world. You wouldn't get that with your shallow mindset."
"That's not true. I think our medical studies here are just as good as anywhere else. Remember that recent medical exchange conference? A genius doctor from our nation totally outshined all those famous foreign doctors and professors. It was so inspiring!"
"Do you actually believe that? It's probably just a publicity stunt funded by our medical field! Medical studies here are so weak now that if they don't hype it up, no one will want to study it. Honestly, I was brainwashed by those promotions and now I really regret it!"
In the lecture hall, a lot of students were chatting.
The majority harbored scant faith in their medical studies and even lamented their choice of major, voicing their grievances.
This kind of negativity spread like wildfire to other students.
Just then, a student sitting by the window shouted, and the previously noisy lecture hall suddenly went quiet.
Soon, James, wearing a simple white shirt, walked in from the classroom door, holding only a textbook, looking super relaxed and casual.
At the same time, Eryx, Edwin, and a bunch of others walked in from the back door of the classroom, clearly there to attend the lecture.
Including Eryx and Edwin, nearly twenty leaders entered, which startled the hundreds of students in the lecture hall. They thought something major had happened and immediately straightened up, sitting properly, not daring to slack off anymore.
Some students who had stayed up late playing games the night before now didn't dare to sleep.
Some students sitting far from the leaders whispered, "What's going on in this class? Why are there so many leaders and professors here?"
"I don't know. We've never seen this before."
"Look at this new professor. He looks so young, like he's only a couple of years older than us. Is he really a professor?"
"I'm confused too. What's the school doing? Is he the principal's relative; he is here just to get a taste of life?"
"Doesn't seem like it. Look at the new professor's clothes. They're so ordinary, obviously very cheap. How could he be the principal's relative?"
"Then how do you explain it?"
For a moment, the lecture hall was buzzing with whispers.
James walked up to the podium, placed the textbook on the lectern, and didn't speak immediately. Instead, he scanned the students in the classroom.
Any student who met his gaze felt inexplicably nervous, quickly lowering their heads.
This kind of presence surprised Eryx and the others.
Eryx and the others believed James had no problem with his teaching skills. This presence and composure were beyond their expectations.
They even began to suspect that James might be a seasoned professor who had been teaching for many years.
After quickly scanning all the students, James smiled and began to introduce himself, "Hey everyone. I'm James, and I'll be your substitute teacher today."
Then the students' tense feelings finally relaxed.
