Chapter 371 James vs Walter

"You're really that sure of yourself?" James rubbed his head, looking kinda speechless.

Walter's lips curled into a smug grin, "And you're really that unsure of yourself?"

Alright then, James couldn't be bothered to argue with Walter anymore. He nodded. "Let's get in the ring."

Walter was stoked. He took a few steps forward, jogged to the edge of the ring, then bent his knees and leaped, pulling off a slick side flip and landing smoothly in the ring.

His move wowed the crowd, and everyone started clapping and cheering for him, especially the ladies, who were totally dazzled by him. Walter's tall frame and ruggedly handsome face were a big hit with them.

Only Emberlyn sneered, having seen James's skills many times. Walter's move seemed pretty basic to her.

She especially hated Walter's smug attitude, like he was all that.

She said to James, "James, show him what real skill looks like."

James rolled his eyes at her and muttered, "Childish," before slowly walking up.

To the crowd, his entrance already looked like a loss to Walter, and boos started to rise.

"This guy's no good, too weak."

"Yeah, his entrance says he would lose."

"With that little skill, he didn't dare to challenge him."

Many onlookers sneered at James, especially the pretty women, who were even more dismissive of him and favored Walter.

On the stage, Walter heard the audience's chatter and smiled even more smugly, standing even taller.

James didn't care about the mockery.

But Emberlyn was different. Hearing those words made her super angry. Seeing James being ridiculed was more infuriating to her than being ridiculed herself.

Soon, James walked up the steps to the ring, facing the smug Walter, saying, "Let's start."

He really didn't want to waste time with Walter. He'd rather go home and sleep; this was too boring.

In fact, Walter felt furious as well. He was always a hot head. Now with such an opportunity, he couldn't wait to show off his impressive side, conquering Emberlyn as well as giving James a good beating. He hated James so much. From the beginning, he had been showing off. Just a small-time doctor, at most skilled in medicine, what right did he have to show off in front of him? He was the heir to the Jenkins Family, of noble status. How could James compare to him?

Now with this opportunity, he just wanted to quickly beat James down.

As soon as James finished speaking, Walter's lips curled into a cruel smile, and his body moved suddenly, super fast, rushing to James and throwing a punch at his face.

This wasn't just a simple punch; it also restricted James's other movements. Walter was a fighting expert with tons of combat experience. Teaching a small-time James a lesson was a piece of cake.

Facing his punch, James smiled again. He didn't take it head-on but quickly dodged.

To the crowd below, his dodge looked really awkward, and with one move, he had already conceded defeat to Walter.

Emberlyn was floored by what she was seeing. With James's skills and attitude, shouldn't he have sent Walter flying with one move?

Suddenly, a bad feeling crept up on her.

Meanwhile, Walter missed his punch and laughed, "Didn't think you'd be that quick."

Then, he went at James again, throwing clean and swift punches and kicks, all with a savage elegance.

James, on the other hand, looked like he had no fight in him, constantly dodging and looking super awkward, with no power to hit back.

Seeing this, Emberlyn got even more anxious and thought, 'Is James really setting her up?'

"James, don't let him!" she shouted from below.

Walter, who was riding high, heard this and frowned, feeling super pissed. This useless James could possibly let him? What a joke!

Then he started speeding up his attacks, launching a fierce assault on James, no longer holding back.

Admittedly, Walter's strength was pretty solid, no wonder he was so cocky. Among regular folks, he was indeed a beast, with top-notch fighting skills. But that was just among regular people. Compared to a pro like James, he was still way behind.

So, what set a martial artist apart from an ordinary person? The line was simple. Those who had cultivated inner energy were martial artists. Those who hadn't, no matter how good at fighting, were just regular folks and couldn't hold a candle to martial artists.

In other words, the weakest martial artist could easily take down the strongest regular person.

In this world, martial artists who could cultivate inner energy were super rare. Those with a large energy sea like James were even rarer.

So, Walter's strength, though impressive among regular folks, was nothing compared to James's skills.

Seeing it was about time, James deliberately exposed a flaw, got hit by Walter's punch, then took several more hits, and finally got kicked by Walter, falling to the ground, pretending to be in great pain, and sighed, "I lost."

Walter laughed loudly, walked up to James, looked down at him with arrogance and disdain, "With your skills, you dare to duel with me? You overestimated yourself."

Since he was acting, James pulled a face and breathed, "I lost because I didn't eat enough. Otherwise, you wouldn't be my match."

Indeed, James's acting was on point, successfully playing the part of an unwilling loser, fooling Walter and the crowd, who all showed disdain and mockery towards him.

Only one person saw through his act. That was Emberlyn. She was trembling with anger, gritting her teeth, feeling tricked by James, the big bad guy.

'How infuriating,' Emberlyn cursed inside.

"Emberlyn, I defeated James. Now you can agree to go on a date with me, right?" Walter said jauntily.

Walter hopped off the ring and stood in front of Emberlyn with his smug expression and said to her.

"You didn't defeat him," Emberlyn snapped, "James let you win on purpose. If he got serious, he could crush you with one finger. Damn James, so infuriating!"
