Chapter 67 Jennifer and Harmony

Jennifer couldn't see the expression on his face, feeling a surge of anger and determination. She stubbornly claimed, "If you want to divorce, then let’s divorce, don’t think that I can’t leave you!"

After saying that, she angrily got into bed, deliberately making a lot of noise, and even let out a heavy sigh.

Jennifer seethed with anger and resentment. Why had she apologized to him just now? If not for his actions, she wouldn't have been held hostage by John. And why should she be afraid of divorcing him? Clearly, it would be his loss, not hers! She was so exceptional and confident that she could find a better partner easily!

The decision has already been made. She will take a day off tomorrow and go to the divorce department with him to handle the divorce procedures unless he begs her not to leave.

But even as she tried to convince herself, she still felt inexplicably empty inside, as if a thorn was piercing her heart.

‘However, the way he sacrificed himself to protect her was really handsome, giving her a sense of security...’ Harmony thought.

Unable to sleep, she carefully moved to the edge of the bed, sneaking a peek at James, only to find that James had already fallen asleep, snoring lightly.

She gritted her teeth and cursed under her breath, "Idiot, what a complete idiot, falling asleep in just a few minutes! did you even have feelings for me?"

While still awake in bed, she sent a message to Harmony.

Jennifer: [Girl, are you asleep?]

Harmony, a former college classmate, and close friend, had kept in touch even after graduation. Whenever she encountered something troubling, she would chat with Harmony. Due to her numerous complaints about James, Harmony developed a strong negative impression of him, thinking he was a complete loser.

Soon, she received a reply from Harmony.

Harmony: [Not yet, feeling so annoyed, can't sleep at all.]

Jennifer immediately messaged back and asked.

Jennifer: [What's bothering you? Tell me. I'm feeling annoyed, too; I can't sleep.]

Without hesitation, Harmony typed back.

Harmony: [I was infuriated by a man today, this damn useless coward!]

She immediately regretted sending the message. This man was Jennifer's husband. She was about to retract the message, but Jennifer had already sent a response.

Jennifer: [Useless coward? Who is it? Do I know it? My husband is also a useless coward; I already can't stand him!]

Harmony almost wanted to slap herself for not realizing her mistake sooner. She had walked right into a trap. If Jennifer found out that James had seen and touched her entire body, or that she used James as a shield today, Jennifer would definitely cut ties with her if these things were exposed.

Harmony quickly replied to Jennifer's message.

Harmony: [It's nothing, just a boring person. How about you, what's bothering you?]

Jennifer didn't think much of it and replied.

Jennifer: [It's all because of that guy, James.]

Harmony's heart skipped a beat as she sent her question.

Harmony: [What did he do?]

Jennifer fell silent for a moment before texting.

Jennifer: [I'm planning to divorce him.]

"What?" Harmony, who was applying a face mask, exclaimed when she saw the message. Her heart raced. Oh no, did Jennifer find out about her and James?!

In an instant, her heart raced even faster.

Thankfully, Jennifer wasn't face to face with her; otherwise, her reaction would surely give her away!

She didn't know how to reply to Jennifer at that moment. Jennifer sent another message with an icon of a very frustrated expression.

After some thought, Harmony replied to her.

Harmony: [Why are you divorcing him? Weren't you two doing well?]

The next sentence Jennifer sent shocked her once again.

Jennifer: [He cheated.]

This time, Harmony was genuinely stunned, her face burning with shame! Did James actually tell Jennifer about that incident? This was bad!

She and Jennifer had been good friends for so many years, maintaining close contact even after graduation. She cherished this relationship and couldn't imagine how Jennifer would react if she found out about her affair with James!

In her point of view, her situation with James was already considered an affair.

She panicked, afraid that Jennifer already knew about what had happened. Assuming that Jennifer had messaged her as a test. She feared Jennifer might suddenly send a video call and scold her harshly.

She wanted to apologize to Jennifer first, but she didn't dare. This matter was too difficult to explain, especially since she had used James as a fake boyfriend today and even rubbed her bosoms against James's chest.

Harmony didn't respond to her message. Meanwhile, Jennifer continued unleashing her fury, sending several messages in a row.

Jennifer: [I'm so angry! He stayed out late that day, and guess what I found on him?]

Jennifer: [A woman's hair! And the scent of a woman's perfume!]

Jennifer: [I asked if he was fooling around, but he wouldn't admit it.]

That must be her, Harmony felt anxious.

At the same time, Harmony was also angry. James was so careless, how could he not have cleaned up these traces before coming home?!

She fully immersed herself in the situation, feeling particularly guilty in front of Jennifer.
Nevertheless, she mustered the courage to ask.

Harmony: [Do you know who the other person is?]

As she asked this question, her heart was pounding intensely, filled with nervousness.

Jennifer responded to her question.

Jennifer: [I have no idea, probably just those shady women outside. Michael, James's friend, is a billionaire who frequently goes in and out of entertainment venues. He probably took James along to fool around and flirt around with women. It infuriates me.]

Harmony was baffled. What was going on?

Her big brother took James to those places afterward? That was too much!

She rushed over, banging on Michael's door, startling the just-sleeping Michael, who grumpily shouted, "Who is it?"

Harmony gave an ultimatum and announced, "It's me. You have five seconds to open the door, or you are dead. Five, four, three, two..."

Before she could finish, Michael opened the door, halfway dressed, one shoe on, hair disheveled, looking flustered. "Little sister, what's going on? Have I offended you recently?" he asked groggily.

Harmony grabbed his collar, staring at him with a forced smile, "Michael, you dare take James to those shady places?" she asked, menacingly.

Michael looked bewildered, and replied, "...what? I didn't."

"You still won't admit it!" Harmony gritted her teeth, staring at him, and probed further, "After James treated me that day, didn't you take him to those places?"

Michael said in a plaintive tone, "Little sister, what are you talking about? After Su Lao treated you, I didn't leave the house. I had the bodyguards take him back!"

Harmony was taken aback, and sought confirmation, "Are you telling the truth?"

"Of course! Why would I lie to you? Even if I had taken him, it wouldn't have been at that moment... No, no, I wouldn't go to those places at all. What do you think of your big brother?" Michael said firmly.

Harmony let go of Michael, showing no signs of guilt, and said, "Well, never mind then. Go back to sleep."

Michael was confused and speechless.

Ignoring Michael's emotions, Harmony quickly returned to her room, finding that Jennifer had sent her several more messages.

Jennifer: [I'm so angry. Why is he treating me like this? Just because I scolded him a few times at the airport? But it was he who embarrassed me first!]

Jennifer: [He clearly knows Michael but didn't tell me about it. He even deliberately came to pick me up on an electric scooter, making me look bad.]

Jennifer: [Even if I scolded him, does that give him the right to hang out with Michael? Does he even consider me, his wife, in his heart? Does he have any idea of how much have I suffered because of him over the years?]

Jennifer: [Harmony, are you still there?]

Jennifer: [And this time, I tore up the divorce agreement, forgave him, and he still gave me attitude. Why should he? I'm feeling so upset...]
