Chapter 307 Slapped Away
Dorian was on his knees, clutching Elijah's feet, begging like his life depended on it. Dude was scared out of his mind; pride and dignity? Out the window. All he wanted was to stay alive.
Leopold and Eirian were watching, feeling like their world just crumbled. It was like the darkest day ever, a total fail.
But Elijah? No way he was letting Dorian off the hook.
Elijah yanked Dorian up by his hair. "You'll do anything? You piece of crap! You make cash by pleasing women, huh? Let's see you do that without your junk!"
Elijah laughed, eyes full of cruelty. He tossed Dorian to the ground and barked at his three goons, "Hold him down. I'm gonna cut him up myself! How dare he mess around my girl."
A nasty grin spread across his face, and he licked his lips. Excitement replaced his anger. He had a thing for violence, loved torturing people. It made him feel powerful, made others fear him. He thrived on that fear.
As soon as he gave the order, his three muscle-bound goons pinned Dorian down, face up.
These guys were built like tanks. Any one of them could take down someone as scrawny as Dorian, let alone all three. Dorian was stuck, couldn't move an inch.
"Elijah! Elijah! No, man, I was wrong, really wrong!! Please, give me another shot, I'm begging you." Dorian's voice was high-pitched, full of terror, his spirit totally shattered.
The more scared he got, the more Elijah and his crew enjoyed it. They loved torturing people.
Elijah grabbed a chair, ready to smash Dorian's groin with it.
Dorian was so freaked out he couldn't even talk. He cried and struggled, but it was no use. He felt completely hopeless.
Leopold and Eirian couldn't take it anymore. They didn't care how tough Elijah and his guys were. They started yelling, "Let go of my son!"
"This is illegal. We'll call the cops and have you all locked up!!"
Their shouting didn't faze Elijah and his crew. Instead, Elijah's fierce glare made their legs turn to jelly, and they started shaking.
"Get lost, or I'll come after you too!" Elijah snarled, his eyes fierce, his whole look terrifying.
They were desperate, wanting to rush in and stop it but too scared to move. They were a mess, hands and feet all over the place, tears streaming down their faces.
Then Eirian remembered James was there. Her eyes lit up like she found a lifeline. She grabbed James's arm, crying and pleading, "James, help Dorian, please, save him. He's my only son; I can't watch him get hurt!"
Leopold also realized James was their only hope. He quickly grabbed James's hand and bowed, saying, "Yes, James, we've been neighbors. Please save Dorian! We're begging you."
James let out a heavy sigh. Dorian, that little punk, had no idea how lucky he was to have Leopold and Eirian as parents. In any other scenario, he’d be six feet under by now.
Sometimes, James couldn’t help but wonder. He’d been in Lindwood City for five years and never set foot in this tiny spot. Now, all this drama was unfolding, and he just happened to be here, bumping into Leopold and Eirian, becoming their unexpected hero.
But he couldn’t just jump in without thinking. If he saved them now without setting things straight, they’d be back in trouble in no time. In the end, it’d be Leopold and Eirian who’d suffer.
He looked at them seriously and said, "I can save Dorian, but on one condition. You gotta stop spoiling him like this. It’s not helping him; it’s hurting him. Can you promise me that?"
Leopold and Eirian, finally getting it, nodded like crazy, "Okay! Okay! We promise!"
"Alright." James flashed a bright smile and started walking toward Elijah and his crew.
The ruckus had already caught Elijah and his guys' attention. The place wasn’t that big; it was hard not to notice.
James had always kept a low profile, blending into the background. So, even though Elijah and his men had been there for a while, they hadn’t paid him any mind. James was practically invisible compared to Leopold and Eirian.
As James approached, they finally noticed him and were taken aback. Elijah immediately spat out, "Are you a person or a ghost?"
James didn’t give a damn about their thoughts. He walked over, glanced at Dorian on the ground with pure disdain. If it weren’t for Leopold and Eirian, he wouldn’t bother saving Dorian. The best thing Dorian could do for society was to disappear.
Dorian caught James’s look and instantly lost his swagger, hanging his head in shame.
"Your punishment for Dorian is enough. No need to go overboard," James said.
One of the goons couldn’t help but snap, "Who the hell are you, sticking your nose in? You got a death wish?"
Elijah’s eyes were like daggers as he growled, "Get lost, or I’ll mess you up too! You ugly freak, trying to play hero? You must be out of your mind!"
James sighed again. Why did he always run into these loudmouth idiots whenever he tried to help someone?
He didn’t want to waste time and said straight up, "If you don’t back off, you’ll regret it."
But Elijah and his crew just laughed like they’d heard the funniest joke ever.
Especially Elijah, who was practically rolling. "This moron didn’t even bother to find out who I am."
James, standing about twenty feet away, took two steps and backhanded Elijah, sending him flying into the shoe cabinet.
Everyone was stunned, especially Dorian, who looked like he’d seen a ghost.
