Chapter 405 Missing You So Much

The girl barreled forward so fast she nearly crashed into James. Unsteady on his feet, James stumbled back a few steps and plopped down onto the table behind him. In that moment, he felt something soft press against his chest, and his heart began to pound a bit faster.

James caught a familiar scent, and the next thing he knew, someone had wrapped their arms tightly around his waist, making it hard for him to breathe.

But that wasn't the main issue. The real problem was the setting: they were in a clinic, with a bunch of people watching. Especially since he had just shown some affection towards Jennifer, and now, not even a minute later, another beautiful woman had thrown herself into his arms, looking all forlorn. This was definitely going to cause some misunderstandings!

Still, James didn't push her away because he could feel how excited and happy she was.

The woman clinging to him was, of course, Harmony. Only Harmony would be this excited and hug James so openly in public.

"James, it's so good to see you back. You're finally back!" Harmony's voice was already choked with tears, and anyone could hear how overwhelmed she was.

James stiffened as Harmony held him tight, their chests pressed together, and their lower bodies were pretty close too. It was super awkward.

James was pushed onto the table, making just enough space for Harmony's lower body to press right up against him, with only their clothes in between. But clothes didn't really help. It was still really awkward and suggestive.

James immediately tented up.

Everyone else in the clinic, whether they were employees or patients, was staring at them with confused looks.

James coughed, "Yeah, I'm back. Um, could you let go of me? Jennifer is still in the consultation room."

But Harmony didn't let go right away. She kept holding him tight, resting her face on his shoulder, and said with deep emotion, "I've missed you so much. I was so scared I'd never see you again."

James could only sigh helplessly. How did Harmony end up falling for him too? It was really complicated.

With Harmony's heartfelt affection, James couldn't bring himself to say anything harsh. Perhaps his near-death experience had softened him, making it especially hard to be cruel to those around him.

Harmony was a strong young woman, but she had clearly changed a lot during this time. Most importantly, Harmony hadn't done anything wrong. If there was a mistake, it was in falling for someone she shouldn't have. But that wasn't a sin; it was just unfortunate.

James sighed inwardly and decided to just go with the flow when it came to Harmony.

Just then, Jennifer heard the commotion and came out of the consultation room, seeing the whole scene. She was momentarily stunned.

Everyone in the clinic looked at her. Honestly, this situation was almost like catching someone in the act, and it would be hard for anyone to accept.

Just when everyone thought Jennifer would blow up and start a scene, she did something that left everyone speechless. She stayed calm, gave James and Harmony a quick glance, and then casually told the employees to fetch some herbs.

Then she just went back into the consultation room without saying a word, like she hadn't seen James being hugged by another woman.

For a moment, everyone in the clinic was dumbfounded, thinking they were seeing things. Some even pinched themselves to make sure they weren't dreaming.

James was stunned too. He thought Jennifer would at least be jealous and upset, maybe even come over to break them apart. But Jennifer did nothing, just glanced and left, not caring at all. And the craziest part? Jennifer wasn't pretending; she genuinely didn't care.

What was going on?

Was Jennifer not mad at all?

Or did she trust him that much?

Even though James was usually pretty sharp, he was totally confused right now, unable to figure out what Jennifer was thinking.

Harmony also noticed Jennifer. Though felt a flush of embarrassment, she didn't panic. Gracefully, she pulled away from James, her cheeks slightly flushed. She wiped her tears, then looked at James's face in surprise and finally asked, "Your face?"

James had heard this question so many times that day he was almost numb to it. He nodded and said, "Yeah, I went overseas and got it treated with the latest tech."

Harmony was half-believing, but her attention quickly shifted. She carefully looked James up and down, her big eyes sparkling.

James felt a bit uneasy under her gaze, especially with so many people around. He coughed, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

"James, you look so handsome now," Harmony said, not hiding her admiration.

"Uh, thanks," James said, feeling like he was sitting on pins and needles. Quickly changing the subject, he added, "By the way, you came to the clinic to see Jennifer, right? She's inside. You can go find her."

"I'm not looking for her anymore. I want to talk to you now," Harmony said, her eyes never leaving James's face. Even a blind person could feel her adoration.

This made everyone in the clinic even more curious and gossipy.

James laughed awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

Luckily, Harmony didn't keep embarrassing him. She softly called him an idiot, gave him a hint, and then went inside to find Jennifer.

After she went in, James breathed a sigh of relief, realizing he was sweating on his back.

Seeing everyone in the clinic still looking at him with weird expressions, he quickly explained, "Don't get the wrong idea. She's a friend of my wife's. There's nothing going on between us."

His explanation only made things worse. Especially some middle-aged folks, who gave him a thumbs up and said admiringly, "You're amazing, being affectionate with your wife's friend right in front of her. Awesome!"

James felt helpless.
