Chapter 110: Michael's Regret
"What else needs to be done? I'll arrange it right away," Michael said quickly and started to believe James a bit.
James shook his head, walked up to Orlando, and smiled. "May I borrow your compass?"
Orlando was very displeased with James's demeanor. To him, James was just putting on a show.
"Do you even know how to use a compass?" he asked.
"That's not for you to worry about," James replied. "Or are you afraid I'll succeed in dispelling the evil spirit while you failed?"
Orlando's eyebrows twitched, and his mouth twisted. "Are you kidding me? What do I have to be afraid of? Do you dare to boast like that? What a joke! Do you think you've learned some basics from somewhere and now consider yourself a Taoist master? Fine, take the compass. I want to see how you dispel the evil spirit."
Orlando was furious. Ever since he started his career, he had always been treated with respect. Even Joe had to show him respect, and someone as wealthy as Michael had to curry favor with him. Now, this young man James dared to belittle him—That was unforgivable to him.
He decided that once he got back, he would set a ritual to curse James.
James took the compass, examined it for a few seconds, and praised, "This compass is quite good."
"Of course!" Orlando straightened his back proudly, but his pride lasted less than two seconds before James uttered the next words. "While it has an incompetent owner."
"You!" Orlando's expression was almost comically exaggerated.
Harmony couldn't help but laugh and gave James a sidelong glance.
"I'm not lending you my compass anymore. Give it back!" Orlando reached out to snatch the compass from James. His movements were quick, and an ordinary person wouldn't have reacted in time to stop him. Unfortunately for him, he was dealing with James. James was very agile; as Orlando's hand reached out, James swiftly turned the compass upright and smacked Orlando's hand.
"My hand!" Orlando immediately started flailing around in pain, hopping like a monkey.
James pretended to be surprised and said, "Are you putting on a show for us?"
Orlando was livid, his finger trembling as he pointed at James. "Go fuck yourself!"
James ignored him, and after regaining his composure, his expression turned serious. He walked around the construction site with the compass.
No one understood what he was doing. Michael couldn't help but ask Harmony, "What is James doing?"
Harmony rolled her eyes and said, "How would I know?"
James walked over 300 feet and suddenly stopped. He said to Michael, "Michael, ask someone to dig here."
With Michael's nod of approval, Rex immediately arranged for three workers to start digging.
After digging about 3 feet deep, they suddenly unearthed a ceramic jar.
"That's enough; stop," James said. He waited for everyone to step back and then softly chanted, "Forgive us. We are not your enemies, and we mean no harm."
After reciting these words, he felt the evil spirit's presence around them diminish significantly. He then carefully lifted the ceramic jar and opened it, revealing a set of bones inside.
Moreover, the bones were incomplete—it was a left leg. Along with the bones, there was a piece of red paper, which looked very frightening. Harmony was so scared that she covered her eyes.
"Why are there bones here?" Michael was furious and yelled at his subordinates.
The subordinates broke out in a cold sweat, looked at each other, and shook their heads, all had no clue about the situation.
Orlando, who had been watching coldly from the side, finally showed a change in expression when he saw the bones. He looked at James differently, thinking to himself. 'Could James actually have some skills?'
James said, "Michael, this has nothing to do with them. Someone must have deliberately buried these bones here. Moreover, there is more than just one set of bones, which is why the evil spirit's presence is so strong. Once construction starts, something bad is bound to happen."
Michael felt spine cold. This was terrifying. If James hadn't discovered it in time and continued the construction, more workers could have died, and his project would have been doomed. Not only would he have to pay huge compensation, but his future business would also take a significant hit.
Following James's logic, Michael realized that someone must be deliberately sabotaging him.
"That's so unforgivable! I will find out who has been here recently and who has the guts to go against me." Michael was thoroughly enraged.
Next, James walked around the construction site with the compass. Using the same method, he gradually unearthed the remaining bones. There were six locations in total: the head, four limbs, and the torso.
"All done. Michael, arrange for an elderly person over sixty, with a large and happy family, to personally bury these bones in one place and build a grave. This will resolve the crisis, and nothing will happen in the future," James said with a smile.
Strangely enough, after James finished, everyone felt much lighter, and the previously chilly temperature around them dispelled significantly.
After hearing James's words, Michael's lips trembled, and his expression was complex as he stared intently at James.
James, feeling a bit uneasy under Michael's gaze, said, "Are you okay? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Michael suddenly raised his hand and slapped his own face, his eyes bloodshot with immense guilt and regret. "James, I owe you an apology. I treated you so poorly yesterday, and I'm truly sorry."
James was stunned, then he smiled wryly and said, "Come on. Do I seem like someone who holds grudges? Besides, I'm just a doctor; it's normal for you to have doubts about me."
Hearing James's words, Michael felt even more ashamed and secretly vowed never to doubt James again, no matter what happened in the future.
"James, from now on, you're like a blood brother to me. If you ever need anything, I won't hesitate to help," Michael said earnestly, patting his chest.
Orlando, watching this scene, felt extremely awkward.
"How naive. Do you think finding the bones solves everything? I'm telling you, it's not that simple. You've stirred up big trouble. Michael, don't feel relieved. If you don't want to bring disaster upon your descendants, abandon this land now. Otherwise, your whole family will never find peace," Orlando said viciously, he wanted to frighten Michael.
Harmony couldn't hold back and cursed, "Shut up! Piece of shit, you called yourself a Taoist master? You're more like a big fraud. Get lost!"
Orlando, scolded by Harmony, didn't dare to speak. His face turned ugly as he saw Rex and the others glaring at him menacingly, ready to beat him up if he said another word. He quickly stopped his curses and left in a hurry.
"People like him are disgusting, calling himself a Taoist master. Total a scammer!" Harmony fumed.
James laughed. "Don't worry. He's in big trouble."
