Chapter 201 Don't Worry. I'm Here
"What? The medicine from the Hall of Benevolent Medicine caused this?!"
Guadalupe's words left everyone stunned.
Jennifer was furious when she heard this. Even though she usually kept her cool, she couldn't help but snap. "You are so shameless, throwing dirt on us like this!"
James was dumbfounded, staring at the red-faced, seething Jennifer. In all their years of marriage, it was the first time he had heard her curse.
Jennifer was usually very refined and hated foul language. This showed just how angry she was.
The other two intern doctors were also agitated, cursing the other side for being shameless.
"That's right! The FDA strictly inspected the medicine I prescribed for the patient, and there's absolutely no quality issue!" Guadalupe said firmly. His previously tense mood was now relaxed.
'Great, the patient had taken medicine from the Hall of Benevolent Medicine, so I could completely shift the blame there. This not only resolved the current crisis but also further tarnished their reputation; they are doomed.'
Thinking of this scenario, Guadalupe couldn't help but smile smugly.
"But the Hall of Benevolent Medicine only prescribes common herbal medicines, which are generally mild. How could they cause paralysis?" A more rational family member was skeptical.
Guadalupe snorted disdainfully. "Why couldn't they cause paralysis? Do you understand traditional medicine? Let me tell you, traditional medicine is a scam. It's mainly for health maintenance and body strengthening, but treating diseases? That's nonsense! It's like some basic exercises—good for health, but claiming it can be used in a fight is laughable."
Hearing this, some people began to believe him.
He continued, "Moreover, the doctors at the Hall of Benevolent Medicine aren't skilled. They didn't even diagnose the patient's condition properly before prescribing medicine, so of course, there would be problems."
What he said seemed reasonable, misleading those who didn't understand medicine.
But someone still questioned, "I don't think traditional medicine is as bad as you say! On the opening day of the Hall of Benevolent Medicine, a little boy with food poisoning was in critical condition, and it was Dr. Johnson who cured him. Without gastric lavage, she used a few acupuncture needles, which did the trick."
Guadalupe had obviously heard of this incident. He sneered, his face full of disbelief.
"That's clearly staged. Anyone with basic medical knowledge knows that food poisoning can't be cured without gastric lavage. Acupuncture? What a joke! And if traditional medicine were as miraculous as their claims, would this poor old man have declined like this?"
Now, everyone finally believed Guadalupe and shifted their hatred to the Hall of Benevolent Medicine. Especially the elderly patient's family members were indignant and shouted, "The Hall of Benevolent Medicine is harmful; let's go settle the score with them!"
"Yes, they need to be punished; traditional medicine is harmful!"
The three doctors at the modern medicine clinic deliberately incited the crowd to march towards the Hall of Benevolent Medicine.
Guadalupe didn't follow immediately but walked up to the two doctors, frowning. "Which one of you prescribed the medicine for that old man?"
"It was Dr. Ingram," said the doctor with the middle-parted hair, pointing to the doctor next to him, quickly distancing himself.
Dr. Ingram said, "Guadalupe, I prescribed the medicine according to your instructions. You said to prescribe a higher dose, stronger medicine, for a quicker recovery. Who knew the stroke was so severe that he got paralyzed after just two days."
Guadalupe wanted to curse but couldn't find a reason.
Finally, he said in a deep voice, "Alright, prescribe lighter doses in the future."
Dr. Jones said, "Guadalupe, how do we handle this situation? The old man did get paralyzed after taking our medicine."
"Idiot!" Guadalupe said sternly. "Who would know if we don't admit it? Didn't you see they've already directed their anger at the Hall of Benevolent Medicine? I happen to know the deputy director of the health department. With his interference, I guarantee the Hall of Benevolent Medicine won't be able to continue!"
"Guadalupe, you're amazing!" The two doctors gave Guadalupe a thumbs up.
Guadalupe's lips curled into a smug smile.
'You want to compete with me? Ridiculous! With the crowd's anger and the pressure from the health department, your clinic will close down in no time,' he thought.
However, he didn't know that James had such connections.
In fact, on the opening day of the Hall of Benevolent Medicine, the health department's director personally attended to congratulate them.
At the Hall of Benevolent Medicine, Jennifer saw the crowd incited by Guadalupe approaching aggressively and immediately became nervous. She already felt some panic.
James noticed her worry, gently held her hand, and smiled reassuringly, "Don't worry; I'm here."
As if gaining strength, Jennifer's nervousness eased significantly.
Soon, the crowd arrived at the Hall of Benevolent Medicine. A dozen family members blocked the entrance, cursing Jennifer as an incompetent doctor with no skills or ethics, blaming her for their elderly relative's condition.
Jennifer had never experienced such a scene in her medical career. She panicked. Even with James by her side, she was flustered.
She tried to reason with them, but her voice was drowned out by the curses.
The two intern doctors had just graduated from Southern Medical University and had never experienced such a scene. They were so scared that their faces turned pale. They hid far away, not daring to step forward.
James frowned, unable to stand it any longer, and shouted, "Everyone, shut up!!"
His shout, infused with some inner strength, was so loud that it was like a lion's roar, instantly quieting the chaotic scene.
