Chapter 585 James vs Neil
The others were also incredulous, wondering how James approached from the opposite direction.
Once a martial artist reached the third stage or higher, they became very sensitive to external movements, especially to the presence of other experts. Neil was a top-tier martial artist, so theoretically, he should have quickly detected James' position. But now, he had predicted the opposite direction.
This implied that James's abilities surpassed Neil's, successfully deceiving Neil's perception.
However, seeing James actually coming over, they were still quite shaken, mainly because they had just been talking about James.
No one else could sense James' presence. In front of them, James seemed like an ordinary person, with no trace of a martial artist's energy. If they closed their eyes, they wouldn't even feel James' existence, which was terrifying.
Even Maurice, a peak third-stage martial artist, couldn't gauge James' depth when facing James. He could only roughly sense that James was very strong, but he couldn't pinpoint exactly where that strength lay.
This was very frightening.
It made all his muscles tense up uncontrollably, like a mouse encountering a cat.
Only Neil, also a fourth-stage martial artist, could roughly sense James's formidable power, a power beyond his understanding. Most of a martial artist's energy was stored in the center of Inner Energy, like a nuclear reactor in the heart providing energy.
But James's center of Inner Energy seemed to contain an atomic bomb, filled with destructive power!
Neil's expression grew serious; he realized he had underestimated James.
James' strength was beyond his imagination.
Lisa saw James walking out so casually, and her pupils sparkled with a strange light. Every time she saw James, he gave her a new feeling. James looked plain, not handsome, just easy on the eyes. But the aura he exuded, his inherent casualness and freedom, and his firm self-belief were qualities Lisa had never seen in other men.
In comparison, Neil was much more handsome than James, but in terms of inner qualities, he was far behind James.
She stood up and said to James, "James."
James nodded and walked towards Lisa, saying, "Tell me her location, and I'll let you go this time."
In this courtyard, gathered were the most outstanding and powerful young figures in the City of Mysteries, yet James didn't even glance at them. In James' eyes, there was only Lisa. Even Neil was not worth his attention.
Because Neil could see James' approximate strength, but James could see right through Neil.
If it were another occasion, James might have played around with Neil, but now he had no interest in that. He just wanted to find Jennifer as soon as possible.
Seeing that Neil didn't speak, the others also frowned and didn't act rashly.
Maurice clenched his fists, staring intently at James, filled with a fighting spirit that seemed to burn his body like a raging fire.
Brenda, on the other hand, looked at James with curiosity, sizing him up. She had never seen James before, only heard of his reputation. She didn't expect James to look so ordinary, but the charm he exuded overshadowed Neil.
Cynthia also gazed at James, though her glance was much more discreet compared to Brenda's; she was covertly observing James with great interest. He was the most talked-about man in the industry recently. She had heard various accounts of James: some described him as arrogant and disdainful, a demon king; others portrayed him as a hero, unorthodox and passionate. However, what intrigued her the most was that he had once been engaged to Lisa, only to reject her.
Lisa smiled faintly, feigning composure, "What if I don't tell you?"
James also smiled, with no hint of killing intent on his face, but his words were chilling, "Then I'll kill you."
Everyone thought James had gone mad, daring to threaten Lisa right in front of Neil. In other words, this was James's declaration of war against Neil.
Furthermore, Lisa was the most beautiful woman in the City of Mysteries, the object of countless men's dreams. Many struggled to even catch a single glimpse of her, and yet James threatened to kill her.
Lisa's face remained calm, still smiling faintly, not at all afraid of James' threat. She said, "Then what are you waiting for?"
James sighed, "Lisa, don't push me. I'm different from other men."
As he spoke, an incredibly powerful aura suddenly emanated from him, like waves rising without wind. James clearly didn't move, but a stream of air burst from him, blowing his clothes and spreading around, pressing the surrounding flowers down. The air also blew onto Maurice, Brenda, and the others, but Lisa felt it the most, her clothes fluttering and hair becoming disheveled.
The next moment, James moved suddenly, with great momentum, like a cannonball being fired. The ground beneath James cracked, forming a spiderweb-like fissure. He moved so fast that people's minds couldn't react, disappearing from his original spot and lunging at Lisa.
At that moment, Lisa fully felt the pressure James brought, making her mind go blank, her hands and feet cold, and her heart tightly gripped as if she had fallen into an ice cave. For a moment, she even thought she was in hell.
However, James didn't succeed because Neil moved as soon as he did.
Neil let out a cold snort, like thunder descending from the sky, with a loud sound and echoes reverberating. In a flash, he was in front of Lisa, blocking James's punch with a palm strike.
The impact of this collision was enormous. If not seen in person, just hearing the sound, one would think a bomb had exploded.
A huge wave of air radiated from between them.
It blew so hard that people couldn't open their eyes. The surrounding flowers fared even worse, with potted plants being overturned, creating a mess.
James and Neil had finally clashed, the top two in the City of Mysteries, finally facing off!
