Chapter 441 If You Can't Afford It, I'll Kill You

Quade obviously didn't know that the Serenity Haven Hotel had a second menu. He sneered, "Mr. Smith, there's a limit to your bravado. A second menu? Do you think the Serenity Haven Hotel is owned by your family?"

The president's face changed slightly. Most people didn't know about the second menu at the Serenity Haven Hotel because the first menu was sufficient for most guests. The second menu was only for the wealthy, and it wasn't offered to regular customers unless they specifically asked for it.

The reason was simple. The prices on the second menu were exorbitantly high, featuring luxurious dishes that even millionaires couldn't afford.

After all, would an individual with a net worth of ten million dollars squander a million dollars on a single meal? Only a madman would commit such folly.

Only those with assets worth hundreds of millions could afford it.

And now, the president was shockJames actually knew about the second menu. This was unbelievable!

The key issue was that the dishes on the second menu were so expensive that even ordering two would cost at least tens of thousands of dollars. Regardless of where James had learned about the second menu, he couldn't be allowed to indulge recklessly. James certainly couldn't afford such extravagance, and should he order those expensive dishes, the president would inevitably be left to cover the cost.

So he immediately said, "Mr. Smith, the Serenity Haven Hotel doesn't have a second menu. There's only this one. If you want to order, do it from this menu."

James smiled and said, "The Serenity Haven Hotel is a five-star hotel. How could it only have these dishes? The most expensive one is just over ten thousand dollars."

Then he turned to the waiter and said, "Bring the second menu of your hotel."

His voice had a magical quality that made the waiter momentarily distracted. The waiter reflexively nodded, then turned and took the second menu from a drawer and brought it over.

It was also a menu, but this one was much more luxurious than the first. Anyone with a discerning eye could tell it was expensive, costing at least several hundred dollars to produce.

The president's eyebrows twitched violently at this sight.

Quade and Juniper were stunned. They hadn't expected the Serenity Haven Hotel to really have a second menu, and just by looking at it, they could tell the dishes on it were incredibly expensive.

James smiled, took the second menu, placed it on the table, and began to browse.

The dishes were all very familiar, with no prices listed. After all, customers who could afford them usually didn't care about the price.

James ordered three of his favorite dishes, totaling over 1.2 million dollars.

The waiter clearly knew the prices of these three dishes. When he heard James name them, he held his breath, both nervous and excited.

The waiter considered this guy was asking for trouble.

He couldn't help but ask James, "Sir, do you know how much these three dishes cost?"

James smiled and nodded, "Yeah, I know. Doesn't your hotel have them?"

"No." The waiter shook his head. Seeing James's nonchalant attitude, he sneered inwardly, 'Just wait, you're so arrogant now, but when it's time to pay, you'll be crying!'

The president didn't know the exact prices of the three dishes James ordered, but he was sure they were very expensive.

"Hold on a moment!" he finally erupted, unable to contain himself any longer. "You've ordered so much; can you possibly finish it all?"

"Everyone will eat together, how could we not finish?" James said with a smile.

The president directly told the waiter, "Cancel those three dishes."

The waiter looked troubled.

James said, "What, are you afraid it's too expensive and you can't afford it?"

Quade, eager to please the president, immediately slapped the table and flattered, "What a joke! The president's family is loaded. He can't afford it? But you, do you have money? Stop pretending."

"I have the means. I recently won five million dollars in the lottery," James said with a radiant smile.

No one believed him, and the atmosphere became a bit tense. Except for the president, no one knew how expensive the three dishes James ordered were.

The president repeated, "I have tried those three dishes before, and they are not palatable. Select something else!"

The president thought he was being very considerate to James. But unexpectedly, James threw the second menu in front of him and said, "These three dishes are my favorites. If you don't like them, you can order something else. Don't be shy, eat as much as you want. You only need to pay half. If you think it's too expensive and can't afford it, just forget I said anything."

James threw his words back at him, making the president's eyebrows twitch and filling him with anger.

Quade murmured, "Mr. President, why make a fuss? Let him order; it won't be exorbitant."

The president glared at him as he snapped at Quade, "Shut up!"

Quade's mouth twitched, but he didn't dare to talk back and just drank his wine.

The president stared at James and said, "James, I know what you're thinking. Let me tell you, if you can't pay half the bill later, you're doomed! In the City of Mysteries, killing you is a piece of cake."

He tore off the pretense, hoping James would back down.

Brandy heard this and immediately became very worried.

James smiled faintly, undeterred by the president's threat, "If I dare to order, I can certainly pay. But you, so anxious, are you insolvent? If you can't afford it, simply withdraw."

The president was infuriated by James. He slammed the table, "Me, broke? What a joke! I have enough money to crush you!"

They couldn't understand why the president was so agitated. It was just a few thousand dollars, small change for him.

But this made them even more eager to see James's expression when it was time to pay!

"Then just order. Why talk so much?" James said disdainfully.

The president gritted his teeth, glaring at James. He hated James's attitude, acting tough despite being poor.

He was never a person of composed demeanor, and James's provocation caused him to lose his temper. In a fit of anger, he selected two dishes from the second menu, determined that if James failed to pay later, he would refuse to settle the bill.
