Chapter 529 Clio Panicked

With James's words, Clio immediately frowned, and the other four men also stared at James, as if facing a formidable enemy.

Clio said in a deep voice, "Mr. Smith, I know you're very strong, but I hope you can cooperate with us. We, the National Security Agency, mean you no harm."

"Really?" James suddenly slapped his thigh, and this action made Clio and the other four men shudder, their muscles tensing up as they assumed combat stances, like cats whose tails had been stepped on.

James chuckled, "What are you doing? Do you think I'm going to attack you?."

In the park, there were quite a few other passersby who were startled by Clio and the four men's sudden actions. They already had an imposing presence, and their strength made many passersby look at them in surprise.

Clio then cottoned on she had overreacted a bit and couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed.

Such was the prowess of James that even someone as formidable as Delbert had been defeated by a single punch from James.

Delbert was their martial arts instructor at the National Security Agency, and his skills were impressive. All five of them had been taught by Delbert, and even if they all attacked together, they wouldn't be a match for him and would only get beaten up.

In their minds, Delbert was an incredibly strong presence, so when they heard that Delbert had been defeated by a young man with a single punch and kicked to death, they were all shocked!

Their first reaction was to think it was fake news.

Clio, at twenty-six, had reached the peak of the second stage of martial arts and was considered a genius at the National Security Agency. She had already reached the position of CAPT at a young age, with a bright future ahead. But she couldn't imagine how absurd it was for a martial artist under thirty to be at the fourth stage.

When she confirmed the news and looked into James's background, she was stunned on the spot.

When she was assigned the task of bringing James back, she felt very uncertain.

But deep down, she was still a bit unconvinced and curious.

Even though she appeared calm on the surface, her eyes couldn't hide her apprehension and nervousness towards James.

Clio took a deep breath, made a gesture to signal her four subordinates to relax, and then said in a deep voice to James, "Mr. Smith, I know you're very strong, but I still advise you that the National Security Agency means you no harm. We just want to invite you back. Our leader wants to meet you."

Unconsciously, Clio's tone had softened a lot, no longer as cold as before.

The four men behind her were also more apprehensive towards James.

Though they were all young men around thirty years old, confronting James's words was akin to standing before the unfathomable ocean—profound and brimming with infinite danger.

James stood up and said, "Forget it. I'm not interested in going to your National Security Agency. I'm sure you've investigated the whole story. I had no intention of opposing Delbert; he attacked me first. As for Brent, he sent someone named Calvin to harm my wife. From start to finish, I was just defending myself."

With that, James turned to leave.

Clio gritted her teeth and suddenly said, "Mr. Smith, hold on!"

James continued walking, without pausing for a moment. At this point, Clio took a few steps forward, caught up to him, and said, “Mr. Smith, I know your strength and your lack of fear regarding retribution. However, even if you disregard your own well-being, you must think of your family. From what I understand, your wife Jennifer is just an ordinary...”

Before she could finish her sentence, she felt her vision blur, and then her body moved. The next moment, she was slammed into a large tree behind her with such force that the tree shook violently, and the fruits on it fell down.

This sudden change shocked everyone.

The four men were even more on edge, their scalps tingling. They drew their guns and surrounded James as quickly as possible, pointing their guns at James.

As for the other passersby in the park, they screamed in fright at the scene.

Clio was stunned. She hadn't expected James to attack her without warning.

In that split second, she hadn't seen anything. She just felt a heavy blow to her chest, giving her no time to react before she was slammed into the tree behind her.

Her inner shock was extreme. She was at the peak of the second stage of martial arts, yet she had no ability to resist in front of James!

She knew James was formidable, but she hadn't expected him to be this formidable.

If James had really wanted to kill her, she would have been dead just now.

In her entire life, she had never encountered such a powerful opponent. The sense of powerlessness, being toyed with, was even greater than when she faced Delbert!

She finally latch on to why Delbert couldn't defeat James.

James was just as monstrous as a monster, with the power of a fourth-stage martial artist.

James turned around, a wicked smile curling on his lips. "Guns? Looks like you came prepared to kill me."

Clio's heart skipped a beat when she heard this. She could hear the killing intent in James's voice and panicked, quickly saying, "What are you doing! Put your guns away immediately. Do not be rude to Mr. Smith!"

"Clio!" The four men shouted.

"That's an order!" Clio glared.

The four men had no choice but to put their guns away. Even though they hadn't done anything, they were sweating profusely and panting heavily, as if they had done a lot of physical work.

It was clear how much pressure James was putting on them.

Soon, Clio felt something was wrong with her chest. She looked down and immediately blushed, her breathing becoming more rapid.

It turned out that moments ago, James had struck her chest with his elbow, causing her to stagger forward.

She had never been touched on the chest by a man before, and now James had done it. She could even feel her chest being deformed by the impact.

James also sensed something was amiss. Looking down, he realized he had gone too far and felt a wave of embarrassment. Hastily retracting his hand and coughing twice, he muttered that something indeed felt off.

"Don't try to threaten me, or the consequences will be severe." James released Clio, turned around, and struck a masterly pose to cover his embarrassment.

Clio's breathing was still rapid, her chest heaving. She was not sure if James had taken advantage of her on purpose.

Clio rapidly explained, "Mr. Smith, you've misunderstood me. Our National Security Agency has no intention of threatening you. But now, the Percy family and the Lewis family have joined forces to cause trouble for you, Mr. Smith."
