Chapter 102: Mr. Wolf

Harmony returned home and immediately smelled a strong, unpleasant odor of smoke. She frowned as soon as she walked in. She saw her father, Andres Brown, her older brother Michael, and three men discussing something in the living room, all of them smoking incessantly. She said with displeasure, "Michael, I've told you many times not to smoke in the living room. The smell is awful!"
"I won't smoke anymore." Michael, clearly intimidated by Harmony, quickly extinguished his cigarette, chuckled awkwardly, and then said to the three guests, "Mr. Wolf, you guys should put out your cigarettes too. My sister Harmony doesn't like the smell. Sorry about that."
"No problem." They nodded.
Orlando Wolf, a man in his early forties, had a somewhat square face, particularly thick eyebrows, and sideburns. Despite wearing modern clothes, he exuded an aura reminiscent of a sorcerer. Even Michael and Andres maintained a humble demeanor in his presence, with a hint of flattery.
Orlando smiled slightly and put out the cigarette in his hand; suddenly, the cigarette disappeared.
Michael's pupils contracted at the sight, and he gave Orlando a thumbs-up, genuinely impressed. "Mr. Wolf, you're amazing."
Orlando waved his hand dismissively as if it were no big deal, and said calmly, "This is just a simple trick."
A young man behind Orlando said, "Mr. Brown, you haven't seen Mr. Wolf's true abilities yet!"
"You’re right. Once at Joe Evans' house, Mr. Wolf single-handedly solved a huge problem for him," said another man.
Hearing the words of these two men, even Andres couldn't sit still. "So it was you who solved Joe Evans' big problem last time?"
Orlando, pleased with Andres' reaction, stroked his mustache, straightened his back, and said proudly, "That's right."
Andres and Michael exchanged a glance, their eyes gleaming with excitement. With Orlando's help, this matter was as good as settled.
At this moment, Harmony, having changed her shoes, walked in and curiously glanced at Orlando and the two others. She asked Andres, "Dad, who are these three?"
Andres replied, "This is Orlando Wolf, a renowned master in Lindwood City. These two are his disciples."
Orlando looked at Harmony closely, and a flash of admiration crossed his eyes. He couldn't help but scrutinize her body, which seemed at odds with the way he presented himself.
"Mr. Wolf, this is my younger daughter, Harmony." Andres introduced humbly.
Harmony noticed Orlando's covetous gaze and felt very uncomfortable. She didn't have a good impression of this so-called master Orlando. She perfunctorily greeted him and then went upstairs.
Orlando reluctantly withdrew his gaze, hiding his expression well enough that neither Andres nor Michael noticed.
Michael continued, "Mr. Wolf, we need your help with this matter."
"Of course." Orlando nodded arrogantly. After a pause, he frowned slightly and said, "However, the trouble you've caused this time is quite significant. It will require a lot of preparation. Moreover, after I help you resolve it, there will be considerable backlash on myself."
Michael, being a smart man, understood Orlando's implication immediately. He took out a check from his pocket, quickly wrote down a series of numbers, and respectfully handed it to Orlando, saying with a smile, "Here's ten million dollars. Use it to prepare whatever you need. After the matter is resolved, I will certainly make it worth your while."
Orlando finally smiled and discreetly pocketed the check, saying, "Don't worry, Mr. Brown. I will definitely help you solve this problem."
"That's great!" Michael was overjoyed.
After chatting for a while, Orlando and his two disciples left. Harmony came downstairs after her bath and asked Michael, "How did you get involved with Mr. Wolf?"
Michael sighed and said, "There's no other way. Something happened at the construction site again these past two days. If we don't deal with it, the delays will cause us significant losses!"
Harmony, not being foolish, quickly caught on and said, "So you think the continuous accidents at our construction site are because the location is bad?"
"That seems to be the case," Michael said seriously.
"I think you're being a bit superstitious." Harmony frowned.
"I am a bit superstitious. The thing is that. We were building some construction these days. I've already instructed the construction team to be extremely cautious, checking all the equipment multiple times to ensure there are no issues with aging or malfunction. Yet, as soon as we start working, all sorts of accidents happen! Just yesterday, two workers suddenly fell from a high building, landing right on the rebar and breaking their ribs! Another worker, who has been in the industry for twenty years, cut off his own finger the day before yesterday..." Michael's expression was grave as he recounted the many bizarre and abnormal accidents that had occurred at the site in recent days.
Harmony felt a bit scared hearing this. "It does sound like there's a problem. But can Mr. Wolf really solve it? He doesn't seem like someone capable to me."
Recalling the way Orlando had looked at her earlier, she felt a wave of discomfort.
Michael had great confidence in Orlando. "Mr. Wolf is the most famous master in Lindwood City. With his help, there will definitely be no problem."
Suddenly, a person flashed through Harmony's mind, and she blurted out, "Why don't you ask James? Maybe he can help."
Michael immediately laughed and said, "James is just a doctor. He can't help us solve this kind of stuff."
"That's true." Harmony nodded, but she couldn't shake the feeling that James might be able to solve their problem.
Early the next morning, Orlando and his two disciples went to the construction site with Michael. Orlando wore a yellow Taoist robe, holding a compass in his left hand and a horsetail whisk in his right, which, combined with his aura, made him look very imposing.
"Mr. Brown, this location is no good. It's a place of true evil spirits. If you continue construction, the accidents will be inevitable, and there might even be fatalities." Orlando walked around with the compass, his expression grave, and spoke in a deep voice.
Michael broke into a cold sweat and asked anxiously, "What should we do then?"
"Don't worry. Although this place has evil spirits, they can be dispelled with proper modification," Orlando said with a smile.
"That's great. Please, Orlando, perform the Taoist ritual to dispel the spirits!" Michael bowed to Orlando, his attitude was sincere.
Orlando nodded in satisfaction, pleased with Michael's attitude. Even the richest man had to be humble when their problems arose.
Soon, he glanced at the aloof Harmony, feeling a pang of longing.
Harmony noticed his gaze and frowned, her impression of Orlando worsening. Just then, her phone rang; it was a call from a friend.
Not wanting to be under Orlando's unpleasant gaze, Harmony stepped aside to answer the call.
"What? Jared was in a car accident?" Harmony exclaimed in surprise.
Upon hearing the news, she didn't feel sad for Jared. Instead, she immediately thought of what James had told her yesterday—that Jared would face a string of bad luck due to his misdeeds.
After hanging up the phone, Harmony bit her lip and looked at Orlando, who was talking confidently. She dialed James' number.
