Chapter 327 James Was Threatened

Before James finished speaking, there's this awkward five-second silence on the other end of the line. He was stunned for a second. But then he heard someone breathing. And it was definitely not Emberlyn—it was a dude!

James had hit up Emberlyn a few days ago. She was the one who found that video of Charlotte cheating.

Emberlyn's number was super private, only a few close friends knew it. No way some random man would have it.

"Who the hell are you? Where's Emberlyn?" James growled, hoping she just lost her phone. His eyes went cold, making Kieran, who was standing nearby, flinch.

Finally, the guy on the other end spoke up. "What's your deal with Emberlyn, and how do you even have this number?"

The dude's voice was icy and pissed off.

James was thrown off. This didn't sound like someone who just found a lost phone; it sounded like someone who knew Emberlyn well.

And judging by his anger, this guy was definitely close to her.

'Is this Emberlyn's boyfriend?' James wondered, feeling a bit uneasy. Emberlyn had a thing for him not too long ago, and now she was with some other guy?

James wasn't jealous but concerned. He had watched Emberlyn grow up and saw her like a little sister. Now she got a boyfriend, and this guy's attitude was seriously annoying him.

"Put Emberlyn on the phone. I need to talk to her," James said, not wanting to waste time with this dude.

The guy didn't back down and instead threatened, "I don't care who you are. Delete Emberlyn's number right now and never contact her again, or you'll be sorry."

James laughed. Where did Emberlyn find this idiot? Without even knowing his relationship with her, this guy was already acting all tough.

"Interesting. What's your name?" James asked, amused.

The guy scoffed. "You're not worthy of knowing my name. Just remember, stay away from Emberlyn, or there will be consequences"

And then he hungup.

James frowned. How did Emberlyn end up with such a moron?

Shaking his head, James put his phone away and looked at the mess in the hall. After thinking for a bit, he decided to leave. He had already talked to Emberlyn earlier, and he trusted she would keep her word. The Perry family might be big in Lindwood City, but they were nothing compared to Emberlyn. No need to use the Jackson family's resources; Emberlyn's connections alone could handle it.

With that sorted out, James didn't dwell on it any longer.

Seeing James head out, Kieran scrambled after him. "James, wait up, man!"

James turned around, smirking. "Kieran, weren't you all set to join the Perry family? Why are you still tailing me?"

Kieran, seeing that grin, felt a chill. He gulped and quickly said, "James, I was just messing around. With someone as badass as you, why would I join the Perry family? They might seem big, but they're nothing compared to you!"

After seeing James's insane strength, Kieran had made up his mind to stick with James no matter what, even if it meant being his lackey.

Kieran had heard everything in that phone call. To wreck the Perry family like this and have his people tie up the loose ends for him with just a phone call. Moreover, he walked out without a scratch on himself. He must be more powerful than the Perry family.

So Kieran decided that even if James hit him, scolded him, or humiliated him, he would be James's attendant.

James could see right through Kieran. Honestly, he didn't have any strong feelings about him. He didn't like him, but he didn't hate him, either. Kieran was just a small fry who'd do anything to get ahead.

"I remember a man was cursing me just now? Saying I ruined him?" James teased as he strolled away. When he reached the front door, he casually kicked it, and with a bang, the locked iron door fell, bringing down the walls on both sides.

This scene scared Kieran so much he started shaking all over, his legs turning to jelly. He began to wonder if James was some kind of beast.

How could anyone have that kind of strength?

This was a stainless steel door, locked up tight. Even a few strong guys might not be able to break it down.

James stepped over the fallen door and swaggered out like it was no big deal.

Kieran swallowed hard, watching James walk ahead. He felt a chill down his spine but also got more excited. With such insane strength, he was determined to follow James!

"James, I was just trying to fool Uriah!" Kieran said earnestly. "James, I'm super loyal to you. James, can you slow down? I can't keep up."

Kieran was frustrated. Why did James seem to walk so slowly but move so fast? He had to run just to barely keep up.

James said, "Alright, you don't need to follow me anymore. I'm not taking you in. You better stop doing some bad deeds to stay out of trouble."

With that, James suddenly sped up and disappeared around a corner.

Kieran strained his legs to catch up with him but still failed.

"James! James! Don't go! I really want to follow you!" Kieran shouted desperately at the spot where James had vanished, but James was already gone.

Kieran kept chasing for a while longer, using every bit of energy he had, but still couldn't catch up. He collapsed on the ground, panting heavily, feeling utterly defeated.

Kieran instinctively wanted to curse but immediately held back, terrified that James might hear him. His fear of James was now bone-deep. In his mind, James was no longer human but a god walking the earth, capable of hearing any bad words he said.
