Chapter 420 Asking for Death
"This is the uncle who got kicked out by your grandpa over a decade ago," Ethel's dad, Rhys, pointed at Dennis. Then he pointed at Jennifer and added, "And this is his daughter."
Calling Dennis out like that in front of everyone wasn't just rude; it was straight-up humiliating!
Dennis, Jennifer, and Kaitlyn were fuming.
James's eyes turned cold. Normally, he was pretty chill and didn't get mad easily, but now he was filled with disgust and a burning anger towards the whole Johnson Family.
James had come along just to support Jennifer, knowing that with Dennis's history, they'd probably face some humiliation. He expected some drama, but not this level of disrespect!
For Dennis and Jennifer's sake, James was ready to make the Johnson Family pay today.
Sure, James had mellowed out a bit over the years, but that didn't mean he was a pushover. If someone messed with him or his loved ones, he wouldn't just let it slide.
Ethel laughed, "Oh, I see now. I was wondering who they were. Ezra, they're not part of the Johnson Family, so no need for introductions."
Ezra, however, didn't seem to care about Ethel's words. His eyes were glued to Jennifer, clearly taken by her. This made Ethel furious and even more jealous.
Ethel had put in a lot of effort to get close to Ezra. Even though he wasn't the heir of the Jenkins Family, he was still a part of it, and they had a lot of influence in Sunridge City. If the Johnsons could connect with the Jenkins Family, their future would look a lot brighter.
Now, after all her hard work, Ezra was smitten with Jennifer. How could she not be pissed?
Ethel pinched Ezra and said playfully, "Ezra, what are you staring at?"
Ezra snapped out of it, shot Ethel an annoyed look, and ignored her. Instead, he smiled at Jennifer and said, "Hey there, beautiful. What's your name? I'm Ezra from the Jenkins Family."
Ezra puffed out his chest as he said that, looking all proud and arrogant.
Jennifer frowned, her expression icy. She didn't respond to Ezra but leaned into James and whispered, "Do you know him?"
James shook his head, "Nope. The one I know is Derek's grandson, the real heir of the Jenkins Family. This Ezra guy probably doesn't have much status."
James was spot on. From the moment he saw Ezra, he could tell that while Ezra was from the Jenkins Family, he didn't hold a candle to Walter. It was obvious from his attitude.
Ezra was instantly annoyed. How could Jennifer ignore him but turn to talk to a pauper?
He was from the Jenkins Family. Even if he wasn't the heir, he still had a noble status that others couldn't compare to.
"What's your name? How dare you ignore me?" Ezra glared at James with disdain.
Many members of the Johnson Family were thrilled to see James offend Ezra, thinking James was in for some serious trouble.
Someone quickly stepped up and said, "Ezra, this guy claims he saved Derek and says you should respect him. He's so full of himself!"
"Yeah, Ezra, this dude's a total loser. We warned him not to mess with the Jenkins Family, but he didn't listen."
The Johnson Family members were all over James, mocking and slandering him. Ezra was livid and shouted, "Who the hell do you think you are, tarnishing the Jenkins Family's name? You must have a death wish!"
Ezra's outburst was scary, but only to the Johnson Family. To James, it was like a kid throwing a tantrum.
Seeing Ezra so angry and ready to punish James, Dennis and Kaitlyn freaked out.
Dennis quickly pleaded with Valor, "Dad, this is a misunderstanding. James is just ignorant. Please help him out here."
Then Dennis tried to apologize to Ezra himself.
Valor snorted, his face full of contempt and disgust. "Dennis, as I've said for the third time, you're just a disappointing loser. Away with you. Forget about being accepted back into the family. I don't have a son like you!"
Then Valor turned to Ezra and said, "Ezra, they're at your mercy. I don't care."
Valor spat out his words with even a smile.
Dennis was furious, his eyes bloodshot. He was deeply hurt, tears streaming down his face.
James could almost feel his heart breaking.
To be honest, Dennis had many flaws—he was vain, petty, and sometimes spoke harshly. But at his core, Dennis was a kind person, and James had never truly disliked him.
Hearing Valor's words and seeing Dennis's heartbroken expression, James felt a jolt of fury hitting its peak.
"Alright. Since they have nothing to do with you, I won't hold back!" Ezra saw Dennis and the others' low status in the Johnson Family. He could teach James a lesson and take Jennifer away.
Ezra ordered his bodyguard, "Take him down."
"Yes, sir!" One of the bodyguards, with a sinister smile, approached James, reaching out to grab his neck. Before he could touch James, James kicked him away, leaving him motionless on the ground.
This violent move stunned Ezra. He then intensified his tone, "You two, get him. How dare you oppose me? You're asking for it!"
The two bodyguards, no longer underestimating James, attacked him from both sides.
But just like before, they were kicked away by James before their fists could reach him, clean and swift.
Ezra's pupils contracted.
The other Johnson Family members were also shocked, staring at James in disbelief.
'He's in big trouble now!' All the Johnson family members thought so.
Ezra pointed at James and cursed, "You bastard, how dare you hit someone from the Jenkins Family? I'll call for backup right now. You're done!"
He took out his phone to make a call.
At that moment, James's phone in his pocket rang. He took it out and saw an unfamiliar number. When he answered, he immediately heard a familiar voice—it was Walter.
