Chapter 606 Too Fierce
But all of James's injuries were just surface-level—nothing that really slowed him down.
On the flip side, the other guys were in worse shape. Except for the black-clad leader, the other three third-stage fighters were pretty banged up. If they weren't so stubborn, they'd have probably bolted by now.
James was a straight-up beast. Keep in mind, these four were some of the best in the game, especially the black-clad leader, who was near the top of the fourth-stage tier. They ganged up on James, but not only did they fail to take him out, they got wrecked in the process!
The leader in black said in a deep voice, "You hold him off, I'll go find the princess."
Without wasting a second, she bolted, moving like lightning and covering over 300 feet in the blink of an eye.
James took a deep breath and stayed put. He knew her speed was next-level, and with these three third-stage assassins in his way, catching her was a lost cause. His only shot now was to take these three out first!
"If you want to die, I'll grant your wish!" James sneered and started to charge at the three assassins.
He used the technique of spider stepping on water, making it seem like ripples were spreading on the ground where he stepped, which was unscientific.
In an instant, the three assassins felt the breath of death, their muscles tensed up, and their scalps tingled.
"Fight him!"
"Fight!"
But the gap between them and James was just too massive. The one leading the charge went head-to-head with James, only to get launched like a ragdoll, slamming into a massive three-foot-wide tree. By the time he hit the ground, he was already gone.
The other two assassins exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with dread and resignation. They knew their time was up.
To stall James and give their leader a shot, they somehow mustered the strength to pull themselves together, despite their severe injuries and exhaustion. Their energy surged, and their power peaked like they were on borrowed time.
James didn't attack immediately but frowned slightly.
What kind of technique is this?
James could clearly feel that although their momentum was rising, their vitality was being drained. Even if James didn't make a move, they would die soon from the loss of vitality.
This was clearly an act of overextending their own vitality.
Finally, within five seconds, they reached their peak and began to attack James.
Their change was felt even by Gray, who was 100 feet away, and he exclaimed in surprise, "Oh my God, what kind of evil magic is this?"
James stared at them, his pupils bright and his expression calm. When they approached, he threw two punches in quick succession, producing two loud sounds that could burst eardrums.
In this hard collision, James remained unmoved, but the two 'enhanced' assassins were sent flying, spitting out a large mouthful of blood. "Why, why is he so strong?"
Then they died.
Gray felt his scalp tingle. This was too fierce!
James didn't linger. He immediately rushed towards Gray.
The fourth-stage warrior who was fighting Gray and had the upper hand felt an unprecedented sense of oppression and crisis. At this moment, he made the most correct decision of his life, which was to run, using all his strength to run!
But how could he outrun James?
In two seconds, James caught up with him, slapped his back, shattering his internal organs and breaking at least half of his bones.
"Tell me, what organization are you from, and why do you want to kill the princess?" James threw him to the ground and asked coldly.
The man stared at James, spitting blood continuously, but didn't beg for mercy. Instead, he showed a strange smile, "You've provoked us, you can't escape, you can't escape."
After saying this, he died.
James's face darkened. He had a bad premonition that he seemed to be caught in a whirlpool.
This feeling made him very uncomfortable!
Gray ran over. Seeing James kill the assassin who had been suppressing him from start to finish in just a few moves, he felt a chill in his heart. He didn't dare to look directly at James, no longer arrogant and conceited, trembling like a child in front of James.
"Mr. Smith, I had no idea you were a top-tier fourth stage warrior. My bad for the disrespect earlier. Hope you can cut me some slack." His Sunlandia accent was thick, but the respect in his tone was crystal clear.
James glanced at him indifferently without saying a word, then went to find Selina.
He hoped Selina was still safe.
Gray felt even more uneasy seeing James ignore him.
Gritting his teeth, he decided to follow. No matter what, Selina couldn't be harmed.
On Selina's side, she was already scared stiff, being carried by Rose, who was using all her strength to escape.
Tom and Rose also regretted it. If they had known there were really assassins, they would have listened to James. If anything happened to Selina, they would be to blame!
Now, all they could do was sprint back to the manor as fast as possible and call Sunlandia right away to send in reinforcements to protect Selina!
They figured Gray and that Sunlandia guy were probably already dead. After all, the enemy had sent six assassins, including two top-tier fourth-stage warriors.
Just thinking about the icy, suffocating killing intent and pressure they'd felt moments ago sent a chill down their spines.
However, at this moment, a slender figure suddenly appeared in front of them, holding a short sword and staring at them coldly.
Damn! The assassin caught up, which meant...
Tom and Rose felt their scalps tingle.
The leader in black didn't say a word. As soon as she appeared, she attacked Tom and Rose.
Tom gritted his teeth, pulled out two pistols, and opened fire on the leader. As a third-stage warrior and a top-tier agent with killer aim, he was usually unstoppable. But this time, his shots didn't even come close. The leader dodged every bullet like it was nothing and, in under three seconds, closed the distance, driving her sword straight into his chest.
Death.
Before dying, Tom turned back and used his last bit of strength to shout to Rose, "Run."
Rose's face turned pale with fear. She had never encountered such a powerful opponent.
"You, you dare to assassinate the princess?"
The leader in black said impatiently, "Too noisy."
Then she struck again, slashing at Rose's neck with lightning speed.
