Chapter 483 Date with Lisa
Alistair then took a photo out of the drawer, showing a stunningly beautiful woman, none other than Lisa. The background of the photo was a magnificent landscape, so grand that 99% of individuals would be overshadowed by it. However, Lisa's beauty completely outshone the grandeur of the landscape, making her the focal point of the photo.
James glanced at it and had to admit that the name Lisa was well-chosen; she was indeed a rare beauty. Without any personal feelings, James thought Lisa was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, even surpassing Jennifer and Harmony. Only Emberlyn could somewhat compare.
"I have no interest in her," James remarked.
Alistair furrowed his brow once more, on the verge of another outburst. Yet, upon seeing James’s serene demeanor, he realized the futility of his rage. Instead, he spoke earnestly, “James, I am doing this for your own good. I have crossed more bridges than you have walked roads. Marriage is about compatibility and matching backgrounds; when two people of different tiers come together, it's hard for it to last, and numerous issues are bound to surface. Especially in our prominent family, a small misstep affects everything. If you marry an ordinary woman into the Smith family, she will quickly be ostracized. Happiness will be elusive for her.”
After a pause, Alistair continued, "Lisa is different. She is the second Ms. Savoy of the Savoy family, one of the three great beauties of the City of Mysteries. She is also very capable, managing over ten companies with assets worth billions of dollars at a young age. You are the most outstanding young talent in the Smith family. Marrying her would be the ideal match. As for your current wife, she doesn't deserve you. You've been lowering yourself to be with her family all these years. Once you bring her to the Smith manor, everything will change."
"James, listen to me this time, okay?" Alistair felt he had been tactful enough. He had been the head of the family for decades and had never lowered himself like this before.
James closed his eyes. Hadn't he thought about everything Alistair said?
But Jennifer was the only woman he had ever loved. He knew how difficult it was for someone like him to find pure love. He didn't want to betray Jennifer's genuine feelings for him.
Opening his eyes, James said, "Alistair, give me a chance, will you?"
Immediately, Alistair's expression darkened. "What opportunity? Do you seriously weigh a woman more heavily than the entire family? You are well aware of the current situation. The Smith family is being suppressed by both the Ward and Stewart families. I'm getting old, and now is the time for you to step up. Marrying Lisa is the best choice. Abandon your notion; I will never consent to my grandson marrying an ordinary woman. Don't even think about it!"
They said people became more stubborn with age, and this was evident in Alistair. He gave James no room for negotiation, slamming the table and saying, "It's decided. You'll meet Lisa the day after tomorrow to get to know each other, and you'll be engaged before the New Year."
James frowned, wanting to say more, but Alistair had already turned his chair around, showing James his back. James had no choice but to give up.
As James left the study, Saxon stopped him and asked, "How did the talk with Alistair go?"
James smiled bitterly, "What do you think? We each have our own ideas."
James then explained the situation to Saxon, who frowned and said, "You shouldn't have contradicted Alistair like that. He's doing it for your own good."
James remained silent.
Two days passed quickly. During this time, the atmosphere in the City of Mysteries was strange. Everyone was watching the Percy family to see how they would handle the situation.
Astonishingly, however, the Percy family remained inert, as if silenced, making no immediate move to trouble James. Even Lester's funeral was conducted with notable modesty.
This led many to speculate whether the Percy family was truly afraid of the Smith family.
"Ms. Savoy, are you really going to meet James?" In the Savoy family, Heather furrowed her brows, anxiety etched across her face. She truly couldn't fathom it. Was Lisa really going to marry that egotist, James? In her eyes, even ten Jameses wouldn't be worthy of Lisa!
In the whole world, only Neil from the Stewart family was barely worthy of Lisa. Even Maurice from the Ward family fell short.
Lisa had her own room filled with clothes, as large and varied as a big clothing store.
Lisa approached step by step, meticulously choosing her words. "Heather, your prejudice against James is excessive. It would benefit you to let go of your bias. Who knows, he might very well become your brother-in-law in the future."
"I don't want him as my brother-in-law," Heather pouted.
"That's not for you to decide," Lisa finally chose an outfit and, in front of Heather, took off her clothes, revealing her unparalleled figure.
Heather was a strikingly beautiful woman, with a charm and figure that surpassed many younger women. Yet, in Lisa's presence, she had no advantage whatsoever; they were not even on the same level. A woman like Lisa was akin to a celestial goddess descended from the heavens—one that no mere mortal could ever possess.
"Ms. Savoy, you have such a great figure," Heather said sincerely as she helped Lisa dress.
Lisa smiled, and after getting dressed, she walked to the mirror, turned around, and said, "This outfit will be perfect."
Lisa then took a shower and went out without makeup. In fact, she looked better without makeup. Being naturally beautiful, makeup would only diminish her beauty.
The date was at a high-end restaurant with a great environment and high prices. Only those with an annual salary of at least a million dollars could afford to dine there. Even then, they wouldn't come often because it was so expensive. Only very wealthy people or rich second-generation heirs frequented such places.
Because it was a holiday, the restaurant was relatively busy. When Lisa appeared, the large restaurant instantly quieted down, and everyone looked at her, their breath taken away by her beauty.
Today, Lisa wore an elegant and dignified long dress that covered her body well. But because her figure was so sexy, it still exuded a sense of allure.
