Chapter 120: Infuriating

The others looked at Jennifer in confusion, finding it very strange.
Jennifer wasn't stupid; she immediately realized that Eugene must have hidden the truth and taken all the credit for himself.
In an instant, she was furious to the extreme, and her impression of Eugene dropped. She thought, 'How could there be such a shameless scumbag like him in this world? James risked going to jail to help him cure Brandon. Not only did he have gratitude for James, but he also shamelessly turned the truth upside down. No, I can't let James face a loss.’
She said in a deep voice, "You all got it wrong. The person who cured Mr. Edwards is not Dr. Baker."
As soon as Jennifer said this, it caused an uproar. Everyone was surprised, and more people started to pay attention.
"Dr. Johnson, are you sure you're not joking? They have already announced it, and Dr. Baker was the chief surgeon for Mr. Edwards' operation. How could it not be him who cured him?"
"Yeah, Dr. Johnson, you can't just say things like that. "
Some doctors who had a good relationship with Jennifer tried to persuade her.
Indeed, they were more willing to believe that Eugene had cured Brandon. After all, Eugene was the chief surgeon for the operation, and everyone had praised him. Such a serious matter couldn't be misunderstood.
However, some people did believe Jennifer's words a bit. After all, Jennifer was the assistant surgeon and had participated in the operation.
"Don't forget, Dr. Johnson was the assistant surgeon. She was on the scene. We all know Dr. Johnson's character; she wouldn't say something like this if she didn't know the truth."
"Wait a minute, Dr. Johnson was the assistant surgeon. Could it be that the person who cured Mr. Edwards was Dr. Johnson herself?" This voice was loud and immediately caught everyone's attention. They were all surprised.
'Yeah, if another doctor had said this, it wouldn't be convincing, but Dr. Johnson had participated in the surgery. Maybe she really was the one who cured him. After all, she was also a top student from Southern Medical University and had cured many patients,' they thought to themselves.
"Oh my, this is explosive news! Dr. Johnson, so it was you who cured Mr. Edwards?"
Everyone looked at Jennifer in shock.
However, Jennifer shook her head, denied it, and said, "You guessed wrong. The person who cured Mr. Edwards was not me, it was..."
At this point, she stopped, turned around, and looked at James, who was eating alone with his head down. She said loudly, "It's him, James, my husband."
It was the first time she had loudly announced in the hospital that James was her husband, and she felt a bit emotional.
Unexpectedly, the scene fell silent, and then many people laughed as if they had heard a funny joke.
"Dr. Johnson, you're too funny."
"Yeah, I never knew Dr. Johnson had such a sense of humor."
They all thought Jennifer was joking and didn't take it seriously. After all, they would rather believe a blind man had cured Brandon than believe it was James.
James was notorious for being useless. He had been unable to find a job for so long. In this society, how useless must someone be not to find a job? Many of them even thought James was mentally disabled.
Jennifer was very angry and said coldly, "Do I look like I'm joking? The person who cured Mr. Edwards is James. He used acupuncture to cure Mr. Edwards. As for Dr. Baker, he almost killed Mr. Edwards on the operating table."
Seeing Jennifer so angry, James felt quite touched. This was the first time since their marriage that Jennifer had defended him in front of others.
However, Jennifer's words made everyone laugh even harder. Some people even laughed loudly, thinking Jennifer must be crazy to say such things.
"Dr. Johnson, if you're trying to make us believe you, at least pick someone capable. Who in this entire hospital doesn't know your husband is a loser? If you said he could clean all the toilets in our hospital, we might believe you. But you say he cured Mr. Edwards with acupuncture? Are you out of your mind?"
A female doctor who disliked Jennifer immediately seized the opportunity to mock her.
Before Jennifer came to Lindwood City Hospital, this female doctor was the most sought-after woman, enjoying being pursued by her admirers. But after Jennifer arrived, things changed. Jennifer became more popular than her.
Even the men who used to pursue her all turned their attention to Jennifer, so she always harbored resentment toward Jennifer. She often mocked James, and she was the one who did it the most.
Now that she had the chance, she wouldn't let it slip by.
But more than anything, she was glad to have such a chance to mock her, she thought Jennifer must be crazy to spill these words out.
She knew well that Brandon was a dignitary from Emerald Isle City, and the hospital was trying its best to save his life.
'Today's surgery performed by Dr. Baker was a fact, and you said it was James who cured him. Aren't you a fool?' Thought of that, she despised Jennifer more.
"Yes, James was notorious for being useless. Forget about curing diseases; he probably couldn't even recognize the terminology words of medicine." She raised her voice.
With her leading the way, many others joined in mocking them.
Jennifer's face turned red, and she was so angry that tears welled up in her eyes.
She had never felt so wronged. James was the one who cured Brandon, but Eugene took the credit. She wanted to clear James's name and tell everyone the truth, but instead, she was mocked by so many people. It was infuriating!
Just as she couldn't hold back her tears, a pair of warm hands held hers, and a gentle voice said, "Jennifer, what do you cry about? The truth will always come out. What's mine can't be taken by anyone."
Hearing James's gentle voice, Jennifer felt much better; she drew strength from it. Yet, she also felt a deep frustration within her, blaming herself for rushing James out of the operating room. If not for her haste, Eugene wouldn't have been able to steal James' credit. She thought, ‘This is about Brandon, after all. Curing Brandon would surely earn Herman's gratitude. As a result, those who once looked down on James would now respect him. But now, all of this has slipped through my fingers because of a momentary oversight.’
Especially when she thought about Eugene's smug expression, it made her even more upset.
"Aren't you angry?" Jennifer asked, puzzled, looking at James with gritted teeth.
James smiled and said, "Why should I be angry? Don't worry. Eugene will regret taking this credit."
Others didn't know, but James was a meticulous man. He planned everything with foresight. When he first entered the operating room, he already knew that Brandon was conscious. Brandon surely knew the truth, so James wasn't worried at all.
