Chapter 314 This Is an Order
James had no clue Jennifer had gone to see Edwin. Dude was already back at the dorm and saw Arianwen doing her usual practice routine as soon as he walked in.
He was used to it by now. After a week of living together, he realized Arianwen was either doing her daily stuff or practicing non-stop. No chill time, never tired, never bored. Sometimes he even thought Arianwen might be some high-tech robot from the future. Like, how could a regular person go without any fun?
"You ate meat," Arianwen said, opening her eyes and giving James a slight frown.
James just nodded. "Yeah."
"You're disgusting," Arianwen shot back.
James was like, 'What's so gross about eating meat?'
But he didn't feel like arguing with Arianwen, the robot-like girl. He changed into his slippers and headed to his room to chill and plot his revenge.
According to Kieran, there were only about five days left until Uriah's engagement party. He needed to use this time to fully recover and get stronger.
Even though he figured he was strong enough to handle the Perry family, he still wanted to train hard. Not for any big reason, just 'cause he was naturally cautious and liked being ready for anything.
For the next five days, James didn't go out at all and stayed in the dorm, training like a beast.
He slept about four hours a day and spent almost all his time training. During these five days, his training intensity was even crazier than Arianwen's. Every morning at five, he'd hit the rooftop to practice boxing, which really cleared his mind and body, showing some serious results.
Arianwen, who was with him every day, was blown away by his progress.
James's training speed was insane!
It wasn't just day by day but hour by hour that she could see the changes in James. At first, James was no match for her, but slowly, his strength shot up visibly. Especially in terms of energy, spirit, and vitality, his progress was mind-blowing.
By the fifth day, Arianwen stood in front of James and couldn't even gauge his strength anymore.
"How about it? Pretty awesome, right?" James said with a grin while putting on his suit.
Arianwen looked at James's tall figure, looking super sharp in his suit, and a weird look flashed in her eyes. She asked, "How did you do it?"
"It's simple. My energy sea expanded to twice its original size, so my training speed naturally shot up," James said, tying his tie in front of the mirror and then turning to Arianwen.
After the whole fire ordeal, James had some subtle changes in his vibe, adding more masculine charm. This charm wasn't about his looks or build but was tied to his aura and the confidence and strategic mind he showed.
It was a weird feeling. Standing there, he seemed like a black hole, pulling in the surrounding energy and becoming the center of the space.
Arianwen always thought she had a rock-solid will and could resist any influence, but facing James, she couldn't help but be drawn in, feeling a weird sense of admiration.
This was freaky!
If she could get pulled in by James, what about everyone else? Wouldn't they be totally hooked on him?
"Your energy sea doubled? No way!" Arianwen frowned at James's words. "The energy sea is like a person's height, set from birth. Even with hardcore training, it can only expand a bit, like ten percent tops. How could you double it? Plus, your energy sea was already bigger than most people's!"
Arianwen immediately thought James was just talking big.
James just smiled and didn't bother explaining. Instead, he asked, "How do I look in this suit?"
"I don't want to comment," Arianwen said coldly, keeping a straight face.
James frowned and said in a mock-serious tone, "You have to comment. That's an order!"
His sudden seriousness caught Arianwen off guard. Though her face stayed calm, a flicker of panic showed in her eyes.
"Very handsome," Arianwen replied, standing straight and answering seriously, not daring to defy him.
James's stern look turned into a grin, and he did something that totally threw Arianwen off. He gently pinched her cheeks and said, "Good job."
Arianwen was stunned. Her usually calm heart rippled like a stone dropped in a pond.
"I'm heading out. Don't wait up for dinner," James said and left.
Arianwen watched him go, her mouth slightly open, wanting to say something but stopping herself. It wasn't until James closed the door behind him that her usually composed face showed a slight blush.
For a moment, she felt even shyer.
Too bad James didn't see this. Otherwise, he would've been floored.
After leaving, James put on sunglasses and a mask. No need for a hat anymore since his hair had grown back thick.
A lot of his scars had healed up too. Even though some marks were still there, their color had faded, and they'd soon disappear completely.
Only his face was taking its sweet time to heal. The scars were still pretty visible, but they had improved a lot since he got out of the hospital.
The color had faded by half, and from a distance, it was hard to tell he had been disfigured.
At the meetup spot, he saw Kieran waiting by the roadside, pacing back and forth, looking both excited and anxious.
James got out of the car and quietly walked up behind him, giving a light cough. "Let's roll."
Kieran jumped at James's voice. He spun around and, seeing it was James, exclaimed, "How'd you sneak up on me? I didn't notice at all."
James didn't feel like answering such a dumb question and said, "Enough chit-chat. Let's head to the Perry family."
"Okay," Kieran said, not daring to ask more. He noticed that James's vibe was getting more intense. Standing next to him, Kieran felt like he could hardly breathe. It was terrifying.
