Chapter 127: Introducing My Granddaughter to You
Dennis had never liked James; he had never truly accepted James as his son-in-law.
But now, he thought James was better than his own son and was proud of him!
Dennis no longer cared about the humiliation he had previously suffered from Steven, especially seeing Steven's fearful expression, which made him very happy.
"They are breaking the law, and they should be dealt with by the law accordingly," Dennis said firmly. He then explained the whole story, which immediately sparked everyone's anger toward Steven. Steven had been acting arrogantly with Wade's support, doing many bad things and causing a lot of trouble. People had been afraid to speak out before, but now it was different; they all stood up to criticize Steven.
This time, facing so much pressure, Wade would no longer be able to hold his position as deputy director, and Steven would face jail time.
On the other side, James's status in the eyes of the neighbors rose significantly.
"Dr. Smith, I would like to invite you to the hospital. My father-in-law wants to thank you personally!"
After handling Dennis's trouble, Herman spoke to James.
James did not refuse. He nodded and said, "Alright."
He then turned to Dennis and Kaitlyn and said, "Dad, Mom, I'll go with Mr. Watson for a bit."
"Yeah, go ahead." Dennis and Kaitlyn nodded with smiles. They wondered why they hadn't noticed how excellent James was before; now, they would treat James as their true son.
James went to the hospital and met Brandon. Brandon was extremely grateful to James. He knew better than anyone the risks James had taken to treat him.
If James hadn't cured him, the consequences would have been dire, but James did it anyway. So, he was even more grateful to James than Herman was.
"Dr. Smith, I really owe you this time. Otherwise, I would have died!" Brandon said emotionally, holding James's hand.
James smiled and said, "Mr. Edwards, I was just doing what I should do."
In front of Brandon, James maintained humility and respect for his elders, unlike others who would flatter him. This attitude made Brandon particularly appreciate him, and he liked James more and more.
Suddenly thinking of his granddaughter, he blurted out, "Dr. Smith, you're not married yet, right? Let me introduce my granddaughter to you!"
James instantly felt awkward, and Jennifer, standing beside him, immediately became unhappy.
"What, do you look down on my granddaughter?" Brandon pretended to be displeased upon seeing James's expression.
"Let me tell you, my granddaughter is very beautiful and capable," Brandon added.
Herman stepped in and said, "Dad, Dr. Smith is already married. This is Dr. Johnson, his wife."
"You're married? That's such a pity! Why did you get married so early?" Brandon's face was full of regret, and he sighed in disappointment.
James didn't know what to say, so he could only laugh awkwardly. Jennifer, on the other hand, pinched him hard, her expression very displeased, as if James had done something wrong to her.
James felt helpless.
'I hadn't done anything. Why did you pinch me? Is it wrong to be attractive?' James thought.
Dominic and the others were even more shocked. They hadn't expected Brandon to be so grateful to James that he would consider introducing his granddaughter to him. If James accepted it, he would be on the fast track to success! They thought James was a fool; how could Jennifer compare to Herman's daughter? If it were them, they would have divorced Jennifer immediately.
They believed James wasn't smart enough. They thought James's being a loser for so long wasn't without reason; his curing Brandon this time was just a stroke of luck.
"Dad, how do you plan to deal with Eugene and those two assistants?" Herman asked.
A cold glint flashed in Brandon's eyes as he smiled and asked James, "Dr. Smith, what do you think about this issue?"
His words were full of confidence and determination. Dealing with Eugene was a piece of cake for someone like Brandon.
James smiled and said, "Handling it according to the law would be a good way. But I've heard that Eugene isn't a nice guy; we couldn't let him have more chance to harm people."
Dominic and the others instantly understood that Eugene's career was over! James told Brandon not to let Eugene harm others, which meant Eugene would not only lose his medical license but also face jail time. They hadn't expected James, who seemed harmless on the surface, to have such a ruthless side.
Brandon said, "Alright, such a person indeed shouldn't be allowed to harm the public. Herman, I'll leave this matter to you."
"Dad, don't worry. I'll handle it well," Herman said with a smile.
As James suggested, Eugene not only had his medical license revoked but was also imprisoned for serious violations. He would face at least ten years in prison. The careers of the two assistants were also completely ruined.
James then gave Brandon a few more acupuncture treatments to strengthen his body and speed up his recovery. After that, he and Jennifer took their leave.
"Dr. Johnson, wait a moment."
Dominic caught up with Jennifer, wearing a flattering expression. "Dr. Johnson, today's incident was a misunderstanding. I sincerely apologize to you! I hope you can come back to work. I'll reinstate you as the director and increase your salary by thirty percent."
Jennifer raised an eyebrow, her breath quickening for two seconds before she regained her cool demeanor and said expressionlessly, "Save your words. I won't be coming back."
Dominic hurriedly said, "I know you're very angry, and it's my fault. But I was also deceived by that bastard Eugene and misunderstood you. Please don't take me wrong."
Dominic's attitude was unprecedentedly humble. His back bent, his face full of an apologetic smile. In all his years as the hospital director, he had never been so obsequious to a subordinate.
Now, he didn't dare to feel angry. He had no choice; James had cured Brandon's illness, and it had almost nothing to do with him. He could only place his hopes on Jennifer and James, trying to build a bond with Herman and Brandon through them.
"Of course, I'm not asking you to come back to work immediately. But I will leave the direct position for you and still pay you a salary. As long as you're willing, I will wait for your return," Dominic said, thinking he was showing enough sincerity to Jennifer.
But Jennifer had already decided to resign. She said, "I've already decided. You should find someone else."
With that, she ignored Dominic and turned to leave, leaving him dejected.
Outside the hospital, Jennifer felt extremely happy and had a radiant smile. She had been troubled by Dominic for a long time, and now she had vented all her grievances.
And all this was thanks to James.
