Chapter 413 An Eye for an Eye

Man, this place was huge. In a town like Sunridge City, a property this size would easily go for thirty to forty million bucks. No doubt about it, the Johnson Family had some serious cash.

The house looked brand new, probably built in the last couple of years, and it screamed luxury and grandeur.

There were a bunch of high-end cars parked inside, each worth a fortune, which meant a lot of relatives were already here.

Dennis stood at the door, feeling a bit hesitant.

He hadn't been back in over a decade, and yeah, he was definitely nervous.

Taking a deep breath, Dennis decided to go in. Just then, two guys in their early twenties walked out. They saw Dennis and the others at the door and immediately frowned. "Who are you? Who let you in? Get lost!"

They looked at Dennis and the others like they were dirt, but when they saw Jennifer, their eyes lit up, and they couldn't stop staring.

Jennifer snorted, clearly annoyed. James stepped in front of her, blocking their creepy stares.

Trying to keep his cool, Dennis said, "I'm Dennis. Go tell your elders I'm back."

The two guys clearly didn't recognize him. Hearing his name, they looked confused and frowned even more. "Dennis? Where are you from? Never heard of you."

One of them thought for a second and then it clicked. "Oh, right! Dennis, the illegitimate kid who got kicked out? I've heard the old folks mention him."

"What? That guy? Didn't he get kicked out? How dare he show his face here?"

"He's got some nerve."

They didn't even bother to lower their voices, and Dennis heard every word. His smile vanished, and he was fuming.

Jennifer was pissed and stepped up. "How can you be so rude? Talking trash about your elders right to their faces? Is this how the Johnson Family raises their kids?"

She didn't hold back, and their faces turned red. One of them said gruffly, "Watch your mouth!"

They clenched their fists as if to throw a punch at any time. They must be used to getting their way because of their family's money. James had seen plenty of guys like this and knew how to handle them.

Jennifer wasn't one to back down and fired back at them. She was way better with words, and soon they were red with embarrassment.

They opened the door, ready to come out and teach Jennifer a lesson.

James stood by her, his face cold. If they tried anything, they'd regret it.

"Enough!" Dennis shouted, glaring at the two guys. "Your grandfather asked me to come back. Do you want me to call him out here to open the door for me?"

That shut them up real quick. They lost their arrogance and looked a bit scared at the mention of Valor.

They exchanged glances. One of them went back inside to get instructions.

Dennis stood there with a stern face. James could see the humiliation and sorrow in his eyes. Here he was, a member of the Johnson Family and Valor's own son, standing at the family door but unable to enter, being hassled by two young punks. It was a tough pill to swallow, especially for someone as proud as Dennis.

But he chose to endure it. The chance to be accepted back into the family was too tempting, and he was willing to put up with any humiliation for it.

After a while, the young guy came back with a woman. She was dressed in fancy clothes, her figure plump, and she had "wealth" written all over her face.

It was Dennis's second sister, Molly Johnson.

Upon seeing her, Dennis was alight with excitement.

Molly was one of the few in the Johnson Family who didn't bully him much. She was the one who had called and asked him to bring his family over.

"Molly!" Dennis greeted her, trying to keep his excitement in check.

Molly saw Dennis and didn't seem too thrilled, just nodding slightly. "You're here."

Her indifferent attitude stung Dennis a bit.

Still, he endured it, smiling at Molly and signaling Jennifer to drop the stern face and call her aunt.

Jennifer was reluctant, but for Dennis's sake, she agreed. They were already here, so she might as well go along with it.

Kaitlyn greeted her humbly, but Molly barely acknowledged her, just nodding slightly. Her indifference made Kaitlyn feel awkward.

Jennifer also called her aunt, and Molly's attention shifted to her. As she set her eyes on Jennifer, a flicker of envy sparked in her eyes, and her demeanor grew colder. "What's your name? You look different. Did you get plastic surgery?"

Her words dripped with disdain and arrogance.

Jennifer's face changed immediately.

She had thought that since Molly had called Dennis and asked them to come back, her attitude would be better. But it was the same old story.

Just as she was about to lose her cool, she felt James gently tug her and give her a look to stay calm. Then, she watched as James smiled at Molly and said, "If you didn't get liposuction every month, you'd be over 440 pounds by now, right? But at your age, frequent liposuction is risky. One day, it might be fatal."

Molly's face turned red with anger.

The two young guys behind her widened their eyes in surprise, looking at James. They didn't know how he knew Molly's secret. They quickly started to gloat. Molly did get liposuction often, but she hated it when people mentioned it. Now that James had said it to her face, he was definitely in trouble.

Molly started yelling, "Nonsense! When have I ever gotten liposuction? Do I look like I need it?"
