Chapter 577 James's Tenderness

James gave a helpless smile; it seemed his reputation was still too terrible, making people so afraid of him.

The man and the woman feared with sobs on their face.

In fact, James had noticed them long ago. He had heard every word of their conversation. With his current abilities, nothing within his range could escape his notice if he willed it.

"Are you very afraid of me?" James asked.

They first nodded, then quickly shook their heads, "No, no, not at all."

James patted their shoulders and said, "Who are you texting?"

Upon hearing this, cold sweat broke out on their foreheads, and their faces turned even paler. Facing James, they truly felt like they were looking at a demon king, terrifying them to the extreme. As the saying goes, a person's reputation casts a long shadow. They had heard too many legends about James, and in their minds, he had already become a demonic figure.

"I..." Under James' gaze, the man finally couldn't hold it in. His legs went weak, and he collapsed to his knees in front of James, crying, "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry. Please don't kill us, please."

The woman also knelt down.

Their sudden kneeling startled many of the onlookers, and James rolled his eyes in exasperation. His demeanor had been quite gentle just moments ago, without a hint of intimidation. James was puzzled as to why these two individuals were still so afraid of him.

"Alright, get up. I won't kill you," James sighed.

"Re-really?" They stammered.

James nodded, "Get up."

Only then did they dare to stand up and tell James what they had been doing on their phones. In that short time, the news of James returning to the City of Mysteries had already spread throughout the industry.

James frowned. To be honest, he hadn't planned to make a big deal out of his return to the City of Mysteries. He wanted to keep a low profile because his main task now was to find Jennifer as soon as possible and avoid unnecessary complications.

But now that it had happened, there was nothing he could do but face it.

"Alright, you can go now," James waved them off.

"Can we really go?" they asked cautiously, still unsure, bowing humbly.

"Get lost before I change my mind," James glared at them, scaring them so much that they ran off like frightened rabbits.

James shook his head. With empty hands, he walked out of the airport. He was dressed simply, in cheap clothes, looking like an ordinary young man. Anyone who didn't know him would never guess that he was a famous figure in the City of Mysteries.

"City of Mysteries, I'm back," James looked at the gray sky above. He felt increasingly unfamiliar with the City of Mysteries, the place where he grew up, and less attached to it.

The main reason was that the Smith family had never given him the warmth of a normal family.

Perhaps this was the sorrow of being born into a wealthy family.

James thought it was hard to say.

Next, James went back to the Smith Manor. Since he had returned, he had to go back and take a look.

This time, unlike his silent return last time, there were people waiting for him at the foot of the Smith family estate.

"Mr. Smith." It was Zaiden, along with some servants and bodyguards.

Apart from them, there were no other Smith family members.

This was also a statement. Alistair had not revoked the decision to cancel his inheritance of the family head position. He no longer held his previous status in the Smith family, and those relatives, to avoid offending Wylie and Usher, dared not approach him.

As for Zaiden and these few servants, they were Saxon's people.

This was also an important reason why James had no attachment to the Smith family; the relationships within the family were too cold, driven by interests.

"Yeah, I'm back," James nodded with a smile.

Zaiden was a good person, almost like a half-elder in James' mind. In his younger, more reckless days, he hadn't realized this. Now that he was mature, he began to cherish this relationship.

Seeing Zaiden's pale face, James frowned, "Zaiden, your health is deteriorating. You should take it easy and leave the heavy work to the servants. Also, your liver and kidneys are not in good shape. When we get home, I'll give you some acupuncture and transfer some energy to you."

Zaiden's body trembled slightly upon hearing this, his face showing emotion, and his eyes quickly reddened. Afraid that James would notice his feelings, he quickly lowered his head, "Mr. Smith, I appreciate your kindness. I've served the Smith family for many years, and the Smith family has been like a second birth to me. It's only right for me to work for the Smith family. Besides, many things can't be done well by others."

James knew Zaiden's character and didn't argue, "Zaiden, that's an order."

Zaiden's body trembled again, bowing even lower, "Thank you, Mr. Smith."

Only then did James smile.

He then spoke to the remaining servants one by one, showing concern for their health and telling them what was wrong and how to treat it.

Not only Zaiden, but the other servants could also feel James utter changes. In the past, no matter how capable James was, he wouldn't have cared about the servants.

In the eyes of the Smith family, servants were just servants, almost like tools, born to serve the Smith family.

Sadly, even many servants thought so.

Before this, no Smith family member had ever shown such concern for the servants' health as James did.

This feeling made them want to cry.

So they were overwhelmed, not daring to look up at James.

WIth this, James sighed inwardly, understanding that such a strong sense of class distinction couldn't be eliminated overnight.

"Alright, let's go home," James smiled.

Zaiden walked beside James, his expression changing as he hesitated. Finally, he bit his lip and decided to speak, "Mr. Smith, this time your return is known to everyone in the City of Mysteries."
