Chapter 337 James, is that you?

Jennifer's reaction totally freaked everyone out in the Hall of Benevolent Medicine!

Especially those who knew her well. To them, Jennifer was always this classy, polite lady. Sure, she had a bit of an icy vibe, but she never lost her cool, especially not with a patient.

So, naturally, they all shot daggers at James, thinking he must've said something super offensive or just intended to mess with her.

James was just as shocked. Jennifer's eyes were all bloodshot, glaring at him like he was her worst enemy.

Right then, his emotions were all over the place!

Jennifer's sudden hysteria upset James terribly. On the other hand, it touched him when he realized she yelled to defend him.

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but words just wouldn't come out. By now, two intern doctors had already stormed over, ready to kick him out.

James took a deep breath, mumbled an apology to Jennifer, and left, feeling all sorts of mixed up.

"That guy's nuts!"

After he left, Kimberly grumbled, "I knew something was off with him the moment he walked in. All wrapped up in sunglasses and a mask, acting like he's some big-shot celeb! If I'd known he was such a jerk, I would've ignored him. So annoying!"

Others chimed in, bad-mouthing James while trying to comfort Jennifer.

Since James left, Jennifer hadn't said a word, replaying everything that just happened in her head. She couldn't shake off this weird sense of familiarity with Ulysses.

She'd been a doctor for years and had seen all kinds of weirdos. But Ulysses? He was different. Sure, he seemed rude, but his behavior and manners didn't match that. He actually seemed pretty cultured.

Plus, while treating Ulysses, she could tell he was super excited. He was not nervous, but excited, like he'd just stumbled upon something amazing.

Another thing was, during their brief interaction, she felt like Ulysses was staring at her intently. But it wasn't a creepy, lecherous stare. It was filled with longing!

Yeah, it was longing for someone he hadn't seen for ages. Ulysses clearly knew her. And besides longing, there was this deep, subtle sadness in his eyes.

Suddenly, Jennifer jumped up. The biggest thing was, only her family knew about her argument with James. Even the intern doctors at the clinic didn't know. How could a stranger know?

Jennifer's heart started racing. Ignoring everyone's shocked faces, she bolted out, trying to catch up with Ulysses.

But when she got outside, he was gone.

Everyone in the clinic was stunned by her sudden move, wondering what was happening.

"James, is that you?" Jennifer shouted into the street, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Come on out, I know it's you! Show yourself!"

Jennifer kept yelling, and everyone around was giving her weird looks.

She shouted, but there was no response. She felt crushed and desperate.

Just then, someone walked up behind her and asked, surprised, "Jennifer, did you see James? Where is he?"

A beautiful but much thinner figure appeared in front of Jennifer. It was Harmony.

Harmony looked at Jennifer, flooded with excitement. Jennifer bit her lip, scanning the area but not finding Ulysses. She finally gave up, showing a weak smile at Harmony. "He didn't show up. Maybe I mistook someone else for him," Jennifer said weakly.

Harmony saw the look on Jennifer's face and knew something was up. She quickly asked what happened. Under her questioning, Jennifer slowly recounted what had just happened. "I feel it might be him. He hasn't left Lindwood City. He still can't let go of me. He's come back to find me," Jennifer said.

Harmony's mouth dropped open in shock. Finally, she hugged Jennifer and whispered, "Jennifer, you're exhausted. You need to rest. You can't keep going like this. Don't wait until you get sick. James wouldn't want to see you like this. If he really comes back one day, it would be a shame if you weren't healthy enough to welcome him!"

Jennifer's nose tingled at Harmony's words, and she finally couldn't hold back her tears, streaming down her face.

'But will James really come back? He didn't want to sign the divorce papers that day. My parents knelt and begged him. He signed the papers under those circumstances. Will he really come back? Harmony, I really regret it. Why did I listen to my parents and leave that day? I regret not telling James as soon as I knew my parents had this idea,' Jennifer thought.

Her tears flowed down her cheeks. Harmony felt bad hearing this as well. At this moment, she could only comfort Jennifer, gently stroking her back and softly saying, "Don't worry, he will definitely come back. You've been married for five years. He loves you so much; he will come back."

"In five years, I was so harsh to him and said so many humiliating things to him," Jennifer thought, crying even harder and sobbing uncontrollably.

Harmony wanted to say something but couldn't find the words.

James hadn't gone far. He was just hiding in a corner where he could see Jennifer, but Jennifer couldn't see him, quietly watching her.

Out of his earshot, he couldn't hear what Jennifer was saying. His eyesight was good, and he could read her lips. At this moment, sadness gripped him.

Taking out his phone, he had a thought, 'Why not apply to Alistair and take Jennifer back with him? Even if he didn't become the leader of the Smith family, he didn't care!'

Soon after, he gave up on this idea because he knew Alistair's personality. If he really said that, it would backfire. Alistair might secretly deal with Jennifer instead of agreeing to let him take her back, and it was even less likely that he would agree to let him give up his heir status.
