Chapter 418 The Jenkins Family Came to Visit
With all the crap the Johnson Family was throwing at her, Jennifer was fuming. She wanted nothing more than to call the Jenkins Family over and put the Johnsons in their place.
Jennifer was usually pretty chill, so seeing her this worked up was a big deal.
James thought for a sec about hitting up Emberlyn for Walter's number. Walter was dying for James to help him level up in the martial arts world, so if James called, Walter would come running.
The only hitch was that if Emberlyn found out he was in Starlight State, she'd definitely come looking for him.
Just as he was about to make the call, Valor cut in, "Enough!"
Valor's eyes were icy as he stared at Dennis like he was a total loser. He sneered, "After all these years, you still haven't changed. Even the son-in-law you picked is just as useless. My biggest regret is having you as a son!"
Dennis went pale and started shaking. Valor's words hit him like a punch to the gut, leaving him numb with pain.
The rest of the Johnson Family was loving it. They always got a kick out of seeing Dennis get chewed out, just like when they were kids. Their favorite pastime was watching Dennis get scolded and then piling on.
Jennifer was pissed too. She glared at Valor, ready to snap back, but Valor turned his gaze on her and sneered, "You got something to say? Remember, I'm your grandfather!"
His authority as her grandfather weighed on Jennifer, making it hard for her to even breathe, let alone talk back. Jennifer was old-school, believing in respecting elders and loving the young, so she couldn't bring herself to argue with him.
She felt super uncomfortable inside.
James frowned, his smile disappearing. He had been trying to respect Dennis by not embarrassing Valor, but now he saw no point in holding back.
"You keep saying you're Jennifer's grandfather. Have you ever acted like one? Since we walked in, all we've gotten is ridicule and harsh treatment. Is that how a grandfather, an elder, should behave?"
James's words pissed Valor off. He slammed the table and pointed at James, shouting, "Who do you think you are, talking to me like that?"
The other Johnson Family members joined in, pointing and cursing at James like a bunch of street thugs, showing none of the class you'd expect from wealthy folks.
James stepped forward, his gaze turning cold and commanding. As he looked around the room, it went silent in less than two seconds. Everyone he looked at felt a chill and instinctively shut up.
Even Valor felt a weird fear when James's eyes locked onto him as if a viper was flicking its tongue at him. That fear instantly deflated his authority.
James was a top-tier martial artist who had been keeping his aura on the down-low. If he had let his full presence out, it would've scared the crap out of these people.
He only let a bit of his aura slip, just enough to freak them out.
But he didn't overdo it, only letting it out for a couple of seconds to make his point before pulling it back. No need to show off all his strength.
He said coldly, "Who do you think you are, acting all high and mighty in front of me? You think the Johnson Family can just humiliate others because you have some money? To me, the Johnson Family is nothing."
James's harsh words left everyone stunned.
Even Dennis and Jennifer were wide-eyed, their hearts pounding.
The others glared at James and started to surround him.
Valor, shaking with anger, laughed bitterly, "Well done!"
His extreme anger made the evil aura around him intensify. In James's perception, it was wrapping around his entire body, showing how many wicked deeds he had done to accumulate so much resentment as if the lost souls against him were dragging him into the grave.
The evil aura invaded Valor's organs, making him cough painfully.
With that, the Johnson Family members panicked and rushed to support him.
Those who had surrounded James now gathered around Valor, helping him to the sofa. Dennis, seeing this, showed a hint of reluctance in his eyes and took a couple of steps forward, wanting to check on Valor, but ultimately gave up.
Jennifer felt no sympathy, only satisfaction. But she was also worried about James. Knowing the Johnson Family's temperament, they wouldn't let him off easily after such harsh words.
James sensed Jennifer's concern. He held her hand and gave a reassuring smile, indicating he would be fine. Jennifer felt a bit more at ease.
Valor didn't have any major illnesses, just a lot of evil aura from his wicked deeds. He wouldn't be seriously harmed for now and quickly recovered.
Then, Valor stood up again, glaring at James with anger, and shouted, "Catch him!"
Several young men, already prepared, immediately charged at James, intending to capture and beat him up.
Dennis and Kaitlyn, who had never seen James's true strength, were instantly worried. But before they could say anything, the young men, upon reaching James, seemed to be electrocuted, rebound, and have their hands broken, writhing in pain on the ground.
This phenomenon stunned everyone. They hadn't expected this at all; it was so weird.
"You asked for it! Call dozens of people over, I want to see how tough he is!" a Johnson Family member shouted angrily.
But just as he finished speaking, two individuals walked in from outside, their faces visibly alight with excitement, and announced, "Valor, the Jenkins Family has arrived to visit!"
