Chapter 628 Religion

James roughly recounted what had just happened to Sidney, who asked in surprise, "Did you provoke Aetheria's Religion?"

"What Religion? I'm talking about that expert called Jade Sword, who is definitely more skilled than my master!"

Sidney really wanted to kick James twice, but he certainly didn't dare, so he just glared at James and said, "That woman has already spared you. But this Religion is definitely targeting you; there are three cars following us!"

James, who had been immersed in excitement just now, looked back after hearing Sidney's words. With his sharp eyes, he naturally saw the expressions of the three taxi drivers and confirmed that they were indeed following them.

"What is the background of Aetheria's Religion?"

Sidney said solemnly, "They're calling the shots on every temple in Aetheria. Their influence are massive. And pretty much the whole country's all in on the god thing. Basically, everyone's a card-carrying believer."

The excitement from earlier had passed, and James rubbed his forehead. The situation wasn't too troublesome, but being in a foreign country, if things got out of hand, it could lead to a conflict between the two nations, which was what James dreaded the most.

"After we get back, negotiate with them and ask how they want to resolve this matter. If they push too hard, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

Sensing the killing intent from James, Sidney responded and then stepped on the gas, quickly disappearing down the street.

"We lost them!"

"Lost 'em too!"

"Same here…"

The reports flooded in from the trailing cars, but by then, James and Sidney were already back in their room. After freshening up, James sat cross-legged on the bed, ready to focus on healing and leveling up. A smirk crept across his face. "Nothing like a good fight to power up fast!"

Just now, James felt that his strength had increased due to the previous full-force strike. Although he was injured, his meridians had become more resilient.

After dinner, Sidney found James. "I talked to them. They're pissed—lost face big time. So, they're demanding an explanation from you."

James raised an eyebrow, signaling Sidney to keep going. Sidney hesitated, then pulled out an invite. "This is from them. Tomorrow night, nine sharp at the Angel Grand Hotel."

James nodded and said, "Alright, since they want to play, let's play with them. I can't beat Jade Sword, but am I afraid of these small fry? We'll attend the banquet tomorrow night. Meanwhile, inform the others to be cautious and gather information. We'll delay our departure by a couple of days."

After handing the matter over to Sidney, James returned to his room to continue cultivating and recovering from his injuries. By the next evening, James opened his eyes and exhaled a breath of stale air. The injuries he had sustained were not severe, so after a day of recovery, he was almost fully healed.

"Mr. Smith, should we get going?"

James nodded, "Yes, it's time to go. But before we head there, let's go out and get something to eat. It's still early, and who knows if we'll even get to eat at the banquet."

James' words made Sidney pause for a moment, then he smiled wryly, "Mr. Smith, you really are carefree!"

"It's not about being carefree. As long as no fifth-level experts show up, what do I have to fear? Besides, being overly cautious now won't help us avoid anything."

Sidney responded, and the two leisurely went out for a meal, then returned to the hotel before driving to the Angel Grand Hotel in a car Sidney had somehow acquired.

The spies following them found James' actions strange, so they reported everything James and Sidney did in detail.

The Angel Grand Hotel, one of Aetheria's top luxury spots, was decked out in pure opulence. But most folks didn't know that it was secretly run by Aetheria's Religion.

At this moment, in the ultra-luxurious presidential suite on the top floor of the Angel Grand Hotel, several people with restrained auras were sitting there, some meditating, some playing chess, looking completely unremarkable.

But on another wall, there was a large high-definition screen, showing everything James and Sidney had done from going out to eat to driving to the hotel.

"This Sunlandia guy's got some nerve, messing with our Religion and still strutting around like he owns the place—total arrogance!"

The old man barely finished when a burly middle-aged guy chimed in, "With those twig arms of his, I'll take care of this punk first. If he's all talk, I'll make sure he learns the hard way what true cruelty feels like!"

Seven or eight people started murmuring, the room buzzing with chatter. But just then, the door swung open, and a calm-looking middle-aged man in a white coat walked in, trailed by two black-robed figures clutching scepters.

The moment they entered, the room went dead silent. The middle-aged man strode to the head of the table and took his seat, scanning the room. "So, what do you think?"

A deep voice broke the silence, and everyone rose, bowing in unison. "Greetings, Master!"

This was Marcus Graham, the leader of the Religion. Marcus gave a slight nod. "Skip the formalities. If someone's bold enough to challenge our authority, I'll handle it myself. Now, what's the deal with this guy?"

After they recounted James' story, Marcus' expression became somewhat serious, "So you're telling me, even after Darsha showed up, he walked away alive?"

They didn't want to admit it, but it was the hard truth. Otherwise, they wouldn't be making such a fuss over this Sunlandia guy.

After pondering for a while, Marcus' eyes turned cold, and he sneered, "A master from Sunlandia? If he's got a death wish, this is the perfect chance to flex our nation's muscle. Imagine the headlines—'Sunlandia's top master taken down by Aetheria's Religion.' Our name would be everywhere."

The room erupted with excitement, their fanaticism on full display. Seeing this, Marcus grinned with satisfaction, and the group dove into plotting James' downfall.

Meanwhile, James and Sidney had arrived at the entrance of the Angel Grand Hotel. Looking at the Aetheria-style, palace-like luxurious hotel, James couldn't help but laugh, "These Aetheria folks really go all out, huh? Decking out a hotel like this. You'd never see anything like this back in Sunlandia, right?"
