Chapter 601 Provocation from Gary

"What? You're the agent sent by Sunlandia?" Zaiden immediately frowned, a look of displeasure appearing on his face.

In his view, Sunlandia clearly didn't take them seriously, sending just a minor character to deal with them. This was truly infuriating!

Honestly, it wasn't hard to see why he'd think that. James looked like your average Joe—no uniform, just some cheap, off-the-rack clothes. He didn't exactly scream "top agent." More like a guy who spent his days stuck in a cubicle. A real pro should've been someone like Gray—built like a tank, tough as nails. This? This was a joke!

"That's right." James nodded lightly. He could practically read the guy's mind. Hell, he'd overheard their whole conversation before he even knocked on the door.

But honestly? James couldn't care less. He was only here to babysit this so-called Frostreach princess as a favor to Rolf. That was it. No big deal.

The princess immediately said discontentedly, "Sunlandia keeps me waiting all this time, and you're what they send?"

She was pissed—seriously pissed. She felt disrespected. She was royalty, for crying out loud. If it weren't for that concert, she wouldn't have set foot in Sunlandia at all.

The three agents weren't happy either. Gray chimed in, "Your Highness, I told you—Sunlandia's agents are a joke. Don't count on them sending anyone decent. With Rose, Tom, and me around, you're safe here. But for a country this big to send some amateur after learning who you are? Pathetic."

They were speaking in Frostreach, but James caught every word.

James frowned, irritation flickering in his eyes. These outsiders were really out here trashing Sunlandia?

The princess nodded and said, "When I get back to Frostreach, I'm telling my father about Sunlandia's lousy attitude!"

James spoke up at this moment, "Your Highness, in your mind, what kind of agent is worthy of protecting you?"

He spoke in flawless Frostreach, no hint of a Sunlandia accent, catching them off guard. The princess smirked. "At least someone half as good as Uncle Jack! You? You look like a stiff breeze could knock you over. Probably couldn't even handle one hit from Uncle Gray."

James smiled slightly and said, "Your three bodyguards are indeed quite impressive. But a royal princess, traveling all the way to Sunlandia—and your country only sends these three? Is it that they don't value you, or is this the best you got?"

Honestly, the bodyguard setup here wasn't half bad—one fourth-stage martial artist and two third-stage. For most people in their country, that'd be overkill. But come on, she's a royal princess. This level of protection? It's downright insulting.

In Sunlandia, fourth-stage martial artists are a dime a dozen—twenty or thirty at least, not to mention the handful of fifth-stage fighters. If someone important from Sunlandia was traveling abroad, they'd be rolling with way more muscle than this. No question.

The three bodyguards immediately bristled at James's words. It was obvious he was throwing shade at their skills, and they weren't having it.

If James had actually been stronger, maybe they'd let it slide. But here he was, some nobody, acting all high and mighty. It pissed them off, especially Gray, the most hotheaded of the bunch.

"You got a death wish, punk?" Gray snarled, stepping forward. "You've got three seconds to apologize for that crap, or I'll snap your neck."

Gray was a fourth-stage martial artist, but barely—he was bottom-tier compared to someone like Neil, let alone Sidney or James, who was at the peak of the fourth stage. His mental game was weak, and he relied mostly on brute strength. No wonder he couldn't even gauge James's level.

As for the other two agents, who were third-stage martial artists, they were even further behind.

Apologizing was out of the question. James looked at them with interest, wondering if beating up these three agents would cause an international incident.

Seeing James still smiling, Gray became even more furious. He took a step forward, releasing his aura to pressure James.

Zaiden's face went pale, and he quickly stepped in. "Gray, enough! We're in Sunlandia—you can't just go around roughing up their people."

Gray hesitated, then let out a grunt. "If we weren't in Sunlandia," he growled, "you'd already be six feet under."

James smiled and didn't take it to heart. He was just here to complete a task. As long as the princess was safe during this period, he would have completed his mission.

The princess impatiently said, "Alright, stop arguing. Now that the Sunlandia agent is here, let's go out and have fun. I'm bored to death!"

Now that James was here, Zaiden had completed his task and agreed to let the princess go out. As the agent sent by Sunlandia, James naturally had to accompany them.

James always looked very lazy, without much muscle, not looking like a strong person. So the princess and the others didn't take him seriously, thinking James was more of a monitor sent by Sunlandia.

At first, Jack and the other two agents were quite hostile towards James and even provoked him a few times. Later, seeing that James didn't respond and seemed very scared, they lost interest. After all, he was just a minor character sent by Sunlandia, not worth their time to oppose, as it would lower their status.

The princess was still a young person of eighteen or nineteen, full of curiosity. Once she went out, she was like a freed bird, leaving laughter and joy wherever she went.

It was worth mentioning that the princess had a bad temper but was very beautiful. At that age, she was in her prime, and it showed.

Everywhere she went, people couldn't help but stare. Phones came out, snapping pics left and right. If it weren't for the three hulking bodyguards flanking her, she'd have been swarmed. As for James? He might as well have been invisible.
