Chapter 484 Meeting
Lisa's presence was very calm. Even with a smile on her face, she still gave off a distant feeling. Though she stood right before you, she always felt out of reach.
Lisa was used to such gazes and felt no discomfort, walking in gracefully.
"Ms. Savoy, I've already prepared a private room for you," the manager, the Kingdom of Sweetness native, bowed respectfully to Lisa.
Lisa nodded and walked ahead.
This was the most upscale private room in the entire Kingdom of Sweetness restaurant, offering a panoramic view of most of the City of Mysteries.
Heather complained, "Who does he think he is? Meeting Ms. Savoy and James didn't even show up half an hour early, let alone on time. How arrogant! No manners at all."
Lisa hadn't expected James to be late. After all, she was one of the three great beauties of the City of Mysteries, with countless men across the country secretly in love with her. Any man would be thrilled to have a date with her and would arrive at least half an hour early, fearing her displeasure.
James, on the contrary, not only failed to arrive early but also had the audacity to be late.
Could he be playing hard to get?
Even a man like James couldn't escape such childish tactics?
Lisa felt a bit disappointed.
"Ms. Savoy, I think we should just leave. James is definitely playing hard to get. He knows you have plentiful admirers and is deliberately late to get your attention," Heather kept badmouthing James beside Lisa.
Lisa said helplessly, "Alright, Heather, shut your mouth. Since we're here, let's just wait. If he's playing hard to get, that's his business."
"Ms. Savoy, you're so kind-hearted." Heather shook her head, feeling very helpless.
At this moment, what was James, the person in question, doing?
James was still with Jeffery. It wasn't that he was playing hard to get; he had genuinely forgotten about the date. It wasn't until he received a call from Saxon asking how his date with Lisa was going that he suddenly remembered about today's date.
James quickly left Jeffery's place and rushed to the meeting spot.
This delay cost him more than half an hour.
Lisa and Heather had been waiting in the restaurant for nearly forty minutes. Heather had cursed many times, and even Lisa's face was starting to show signs of impatience.
After all, she was the second daughter of The Savoy family, one of the three great beauties of the City of Mysteries. She had always been the one others waited for, never the other way around. And now, forty minutes had passed, and James still hadn't shown up.
Even the most patient person would have been infuriated, let alone her, who was not known for her mild temperament.
The Kingdom of Sweetness manager had already come to inquire three times, still not seeing anyone show up. Seeing Lisa and her maid waiting, he was astonished. Who had the audacity to keep Ms. Savoy waiting for so long?
Finally, after fifty minutes, James arrived and asked, "Hello, could you tell me where Lisa is seated?"
The manager scrutinized James from head to toe, baffled by the fact that this seemingly unremarkable young man was the one Lisa intended to date. He even began to suspect that James might be deceiving him.
"Sir, the Ms. Savoy you're referring to, is she the second daughter of The Savoy family?" the Kingdom of Sweetness manager asked.
He needed to be absolutely certain, for Lisa's distinguished status was not to be trifled with. Offending her could easily result in the restaurant's closure within minutes.
James frowned, "Is there a problem?"
"No problem," the Kingdom of Sweetness manager said, then added meaningfully, "Excuse me, sir, Ms. Savoy has been waiting for fifty minutes."
James was a bit surprised, "Have she arrived so early?"
The manager couldn't figure out James' identity and didn't say more, leading James to Lisa's private room.
"Ms. Savoy, it's been almost an hour, and James still hasn't arrived. I think he doesn't respect you at all. This is so rude. Let's leave! James from the Smith family is too arrogant and has no sincerity in forming an alliance with us," Heather said angrily.
Lisa also frowned, unable to understand what the Smith family was thinking.
Logically, given the Smith family's current situation, they should be eager to form an alliance with The Savoy family.
Moreover, James had just killed Lester and would definitely face retaliation from The Percy family. Given the Smith family's current strength, if they didn't seek allies, they wouldn't last long.
After waiting for an hour without seeing anyone, her patience had worn thin as her good impression of James had almost vanished.
Lisa was interested in James, but that didn't mean she had no principles. James' behavior had already annoyed her.
Lisa stood up and said, "Let's bounce."
Heather was instantly delighted.
However, just as they took a few steps, they saw the manager leading a man over. It was James.
In an instant, Lisa and James locked eyes.
Even with James' composure, having seen countless beauties, he couldn't help but be momentarily stunned when he saw Lisa.
Lisa was so gorgeous, her features perfectly balanced.
But James only lost his composure for half a second before returning to normal.
When Lisa saw James, she was also slightly taken aback. However, her impression of James was the exact opposite of his impression of her.
At first glance, she found James to be rather unremarkable. Apart from his spirited demeanor, everything else about him. His appearance, attire, and overall bearing seemed utterly ordinary.
James looked like an average person. He seemed even more unremarkable than when Lisa first met James seven years ago.
If Lisa hadn't recognize James' face and know that the person in front of her was indeed James, she would have thought he was a waiter.
Heather was also taken aback. When did James become so unremarkable?
Soon, Lisa noticed something different about James. His amazement at her lasted less than half a second before it disappeared, and his gaze became clear.
This was the first time she had seen such a reaction.
Even Neil, when looking at her, took a full three seconds to react, and his gaze was never as clear as James'.
James' reaction made her frown, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable.
Sometimes, women were paradoxical creatures. When a man stared at her with lecherous eyes, making it hard for him to look away, she felt uncomfortable. However, if someone remained indifferent to her beauty, she felt even more unsettled, believing that the person lacked appreciation and must be blind.
