Chapter 76 I Need You
In fact, Jonathon lusted for Jennifer’s body more than once. Ever since he came to Lindwood City Hospital last year and saw Jennifer, he has been fixated on her. Despite various reasons for inviting Jennifer out, she has rejected him every time.
The more unattainable she seems, the more obsessed Jonathon becomes with Jennifer. This time, he finally has the chance he's been waiting for, and he can't wait to have Jennifer.
Dennis was in a dilemma, "Well..."
To be honest, Dennis was not keen on agreeing to Jonathon's request. He knew of Jonathon's true nature. Although he appeared upright on the surface, he was actually a complete pervert.
Jennifer, a stunning beauty, once she falls into his clutches, would surely have suffered greatly.
Moreover, Jennifer was a married woman. And most importantly, she had made significant contributions to Lindwood City Hospital over the years, earning his respect as the director.
"Hmm? You seem troubled," he remarked. Jonathon's smile gradually turned cold as he glared at Dennis.
Jonathon deviously reminded him, "Don't forget, if it wasn't for me covering for you all these years, your hospital would never have reached where it is today! You know what I'm capable of. I could make or break you. You better think it over!"
Dennis immediately felt uneasy, sweat breaking out on his forehead. He quickly gave in, and said, "Yes, yes, of course, I won't forget your guidance, Mr. Jones! However, Dr. Johnson is married, she has a husband..."
"So what?" Jonathon interrupted him, smiling. "I like them married. It excites me."
Dennis cursed inwardly. While maintaining a respectful tone, he added, "Mr. Jones, Dr. Johnson is always with her husband. This situation might be tricky."
"That's your problem," Jonathon rubbed walnuts in his hand, comfortably leaning back in his chair, and said nonchalantly, "I just want her to come and sing and drink with me. Besides, Dr. Johnson's husband is a wimp. Even if he tags along, so what?"
Jonathon stood up, set aside the walnut, patted Dennis on the shoulder, and said, "Alright, it's settled. Get this done for me. This little affair won't reflect on Lindwood City Hospital. Just call Jennifer over; the rest is none of your concerns. Understand?"
Dennis sensed immense pressure emanating from Jonathon and hastily nodded, "Understood! Mr. Jones, I can arrange this. I will have Dr. Johnson come over tonight."
"That's the way," Jonathon was very pleased, his already small eyes narrowing into slits, looking extremely sinister, chuckling as if he could already envision Jennifer being stripped naked.
After Jonathon left, Dennis struggled internally. In the end, he gritted his teeth, prioritizing the hospital's interests and his own future over Jennifer's innocence.
Moreover, Jennifer's husband was just a useless baboon. Even if he found out, what could he do? The blame lay with Jennifer for marrying a useless man!
With his decision made, he called Jennifer and asked her to come to his office.
When Jennifer arrived, Dennis, following Jonathon's instructions, invited her to sing.
He wore a gentle smile, trying to appear natural and not raise any suspicions in Jennifer.
Without a second thought, Jennifer declined, "No, Director, I have other plans for tonight."
Dennis immediately used his persuasion skills, lowering his stance, "Dr. Johnson, just come for a song, have a drink or two. It won't take long. If you're worried, you can bring James along.
"Oh, the recent policies were pressing. If we didn't handle it well, we might lose access to low-cost medications, and the hospital's profits would plummet significantly.
"Whether we could continue operating healthily was in question. Dr. Johnson, please help me out. It's just a relaxing event, not a big deal, okay?"
Jennifer showed some sympathy immediately. Dennis had recommended her, showing her favor during her years at Lindwood City Hospital. He had never forced her into social situations before.
Now, with Dennis in need, as a member of Lindwood City Hospital, she couldn't refuse. She nodded in agreement, and emphasized, "But Director, I'll just show up and then have a couple of drinks, okay? You know I can't handle alcohol well."
"Alright, as long as you agree to come," Dennis suppressed his inner joy.
Jennifer didn't see the guilt flashing in Dennis's eyes. She had made up her mind to stay there for just a short time, have a couple of drinks, and leave. It shouldn't make a big deal.
After work, instead of going home, she dined with colleagues outside and then headed to JG KTV for the gathering.
Being cautious, she carried pepper spray in her bag, ready to defend herself in case of any emergencies.
On the way, she picked up her phone, intending to call James to accompany her. However, upon opening her contacts, she hesitated.
She and James were currently in a cold war, and with other colleagues joining her for the singing session, there shouldn't be any issues. There was no need to involve James.
Upon reaching the KTV room, she frowned upon seeing unfamiliar faces apart from Dennis and the two hospital directors.
Jonathon emerged from the restroom, a middle-aged man with a corpulent figure, his eyes lighting up upon spotting Jennifer. He gazed at her with desire, blatantly.
His anticipation grew.
Jennifer sensed trouble upon seeing Jonathon. She had interacted with him a few times before; he was the deputy director of the health bureau and had always harbored ill intentions toward her.
She regretted her decision. If she had known the real situation ahead of time, she wouldn't have come.
However, now that she was here, she couldn't just leave. She reluctantly sat down, planning to have a couple of drinks and leave.
"Dr. Johnson, let me offer you a toast. A talented young doctor like you is a rare find these days," Jonathon praised as he purposely sat next to Jennifer, raising his glass to her.
Unwilling but unable to refuse, Jennifer clinked glasses with Jonathon, and replied, "Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Jones."
Subsequently, Jonathon and his cronies took turns toasting Jennifer. With her low alcohol tolerance, three beers in quick succession left her feeling woozy.
"I can't continue, Mr. Jones. I can't drink anymore," Jennifer refused, "You all carry on. I have something to attend to and must leave."
"What's the rush? It's still early. Sit down and have a couple more drinks," Jonathon insisted as he reached out to grab Jennifer's hand.
Jennifer's expression changed instantly. She quickly withdrew her hand, avoiding Jonathon's advances.
Unperturbed, Jonathon chuckled, his eyes gleaming with desire as he continued to stare at Jennifer intently, growing more fervent by the moment.
"No, I really must go," Jennifer reiterated.
However, Jonathon refused to let her leave, adopting a stern expression as he spoke, "Dr. Johnson, what do you mean by this? I've invited you, numerous times, and yet, you've declined each time.
"Now, you want to leave without finishing two bottles of beer? Do you look down on me? I've never been so disrespected. You're insulting me.
"Moreover, with the recent policies of the government, they will scrutinize Lindwood City Hospital's low-cost medication procurement. If things go wrong, you need to take the blame!"
His words carried a clear threat.
"Mr. Jones, I really can't drink anymore," Jennifer said with nervousness.
"You don't need to lie to me. You've only had a little drink. How can you not finish it? Here's the deal. If you can finish these two bottles, then you can leave," Jonathon insisted.
Jennifer looked at the two bottles of beer, hesitated for a moment, and nodded, "Okay, but I need to use the restroom first."
"Go ahead," Jonathon said while he suppressed his excitement. This was indeed a golden opportunity handed to him by fate!
Jennifer’s alcohol tolerance was poor; having consumed only one and a half bottles of beer, and already felt dizzy. Coupled with the dim lighting in the room, she failed to notice the cunning glint in Jonathon's eyes.
Otherwise, she would never have agreed.
Once she entered the restroom, Jonathon signaled to one of his confidants, who discreetly took out a small bottle of blue powder from his pocket and sprinkled a bit into Jennifer's glass.
As for Dennis and the other Lindwood City Hospital directors, they quickly averted their gazes, pretending not to notice. They sympathized with Jennifer, knowing that if she drank that glass, she would be at Jonathon's mercy.
Meanwhile, Jennifer took out her phone in the restroom and sent a message to James.
Jennifer: [Are you free? Come to JG KTV Room 808 immediately, urgent.]
After sending the message, she splashed cold water on her face, trying to calm her mind.
Two minutes passed without a reply. Growing anxious, she sent another message.
Jennifer: [I need you.]
On James's side, after having just finished dinner, he checked the time on his phone, intending to leave. However, upon seeing Jennifer's message, he furrowed his brow, realizing that something must have gone wrong on her end.
He knew Jennifer well. She wouldn't send such a message unless she really needed his help, especially saying, "I need you."
"Elena, I have something to attend to, I'm heading back," James informed Elena.
