Chapter 636 Calculating Scorpio

"Let him go?" Scorpio scoffed, his voice dripping with contempt. "Once someone's in my grasp, they're not walking away. So, he's done for."

"Wait!" Seeing that Scorpio was about to make a move, Sidney suddenly shouted.

Scorpio paused and said, "Say your last words!"

Sidney showed a look of terror, swallowed hard, and said, "Since we have already fallen into your hands, I have nothing to say. But can you let me die knowing how you poisoned us?"

Scorpio's face lit up with smug pride at Sidney's question. "I've got a million ways to poison you without you ever catching on. As for him," he gestured to James, "he was careful, sure. But in this place, even the air's laced with invisible, scentless poison. The moment you stepped in, you were done. So, tell me—do I scare you yet?"

"So, she's poisoned too?" James cut in, his eyes darting to Rose Thorn, whose face was already showing signs of distress. He'd caught on to her condition while Scorpio was talking.

Rose Thorn, hearing James, shot a frosty glare at Scorpio. "Why didn't you give me the antidote?"

Scorpio's face showed a bit of panic at first, but he quickly regained his composure. His eyes greedily stared at Rose Thorn's body, and he laughed, "Rose Thorn, I've been coveting you for a long time. Didn't you know?"

"You, shameless to the extreme. Even if I die, I won't let you succeed. Besides, King doesn't allow us to kill each other. Are you going to disobey King's orders?"

But Scorpio calmly said, "Did I disobey King's orders? The ones who attacked you were James and Sidney. How about that answer? Satisfied?"

"Go to hell!"

Rose Thorn, already extremely angry, couldn't hold back any longer. Her body turned into a blur as she charged at Scorpio, the dagger in her hand flashing coldly, aiming straight for Scorpio's neck.

Scorpio backpedaled fast, whipping out a small flute and playing a sharp, eerie tune. The moment the notes hit the air, Rose Thorn's body jerked, her speed faltering. A smirk crept across Scorpio's face. He stashed the flute and moved in, going for the wrist gripping the dagger.

"A top-notch woman like you should be enjoying herself under a man, not fighting and killing!"

With a quick pivot, Scorpio slipped behind Rose Thorn, locking her in a tight grip, his arms wrapped around her waist. When the dust settled, James and Sidney saw Rose Thorn's body go slack, her face etched with defeat as Scorpio held her firmly.

"Scorpio, you bastard, just kill me already!"

Even as Scorpio had her pinned, Rose Thorn's eyes burned with pure hatred and despair, tears streaking down her face. When she'd chosen this path, she'd known it might end in her death—but never like this, never at the mercy of that twisted creep Scorpio.

She'd rather die than let him have his way. Anything was better than the hell he'd put her through.

Hearing this, Scorpio was not angry but instead laughed, "Don't be in such a hurry to die. Once you taste my drug and become my slave, you'll beg me to violate you. Alright, beauty, let me deal with them first, and then we'll have some fun!"

Rose Thorn shuddered at his words. She wanted to die, to escape this nightmare, but her body was completely paralyzed—she couldn't even lift a finger to end it herself!

Scorpio placed Rose Thorn on a stone bed and then turned around cheerfully, walking towards James and Sidney.

"I have to thank you two. If it weren't for your appearance making Rose Thorn lower her guard, I wouldn't have been able to make a move. So, I'll give you a quick death."

Hearing Scorpio's words, James sighed and said, "I've seen bastards, but never one like you. You haven't even dealt with the people you need to catch, and you're already attacking your own. I really admire you!"

Scorpio's expression flickered, but he quickly shrugged it off, his confidence in his poison unshaken. "Keep running that mouth, kid. Before I deliver you to the King, I'll make sure you can't talk."

With that, Scorpio took out a small packet of powder, ignoring Sidney. He wanted to deal with James first before killing him.

But at that moment, Scorpio suddenly felt a cold killing intent behind him. As an experienced fighter, Scorpio didn't care what was happening and twisted his body, rolling to the side.

A slicing sound was heard. Although Scorpio had reacted in the best way possible, Sidney's military knife still grazed his shoulder, tearing out a piece of flesh and causing Scorpio to scream in pain.

"Why aren't you poisoned?" Scorpio stared at Sidney, who was now shielding Rose Thorn with a knife, his voice a mix of shock and disbelief. He jabbed a finger at Rose Thorn, his voice rising to a scream. "You! You traitorous bitch! You gave him the antidote, didn't you?"

Even as he yelled, Scorpio started backing away. But then another voice cut through the air from behind him. "You're really that dumb? If she'd given us the antidote, do you think she'd still be writhing from your poison?"

Scorpio froze mid-step, his head snapping around to see James grinning at him. "Why aren't you poisoned? No way, that's impossible! You can't just get poisoned and then bounce back like nothing happened!"

Seeing Scorpio almost going crazy, James shook his head helplessly. He and Sidney had been poisoned and paralyzed, sure, but thanks to that rare ginseng they'd ingested the night before—still lingering in their system—they'd managed to regain some movement.

The poison wasn't gone, though. They'd just temporarily locked it down with their energy. Still, it was enough to throw Scorpio off. He had no clue they weren't fully detoxed, and honestly, he was too freaked out to think straight. All he cared about now was getting the hell out of there.

James and Sidney had him cornered, blocking any escape. Scorpio's mind raced—he wanted to fight, but the memory of Slayer's defeat at James's hands was enough to make him hesitate. A direct confrontation wasn't an option.

"You really think you're getting out of here?" James smirked, his energy flaring as he appeared right in front of Scorpio.

Desperate, Scorpio let out a furious yell and flung a cloud of poison at him, a last-ditch effort to buy himself time.
