Chapter 398 How to Heal a Person Hurt by Love?

Throughout his life, Fintan had always been an academic prodigy, envied and admired by his peers. Over time, this adulation cultivated an air of arrogance in him, instilling a belief that he was inherently superior to all those around him. So, when he got humiliated in front of all those students, with his secret out in the open, he couldn't handle it.

He was shaking all over, his face a mix of panic, fear, and regret. If he had known this would happen, he would've never messed with James, no matter what.

His eyes were red, and he was on the verge of tears.

James gave him a pat on the shoulder and said, "Fintan, you gotta stop doing stuff that's bad for you. Get a girlfriend or something, and quit hurting yourself like this."

James had this caring smile, but that just made it worse for Fintan. He felt so ashamed, he wanted to argue, but no words came out.

Because deep down, he knew James was right, and everyone else knew it too. They all had enough medical knowledge to see the truth in what James was saying.

Fintan's arrogance had already made him pretty unpopular, and now, with this chance, everyone started mocking him.

"This is too funny! Fintan's a chronic masturbator. Look at him, all drained. It's 'cause he does it too much."

"Seriously, who would've thought? He acts all high and mighty, but behind closed doors, he's doing this gross stuff. It's killing me!"

"No wonder he's been popping so many aphrodisiacs. He's just weak."

"Gross! I used to look up to him, but now he's just sleazy."

"Totally! He touched my hand yesterday. Who knows what was on it. So nasty, I can't even!"

Suddenly, the classroom was filled with laughter and taunts, and Fintan was the butt of everyone's jokes.

Being naturally shy, Fintan couldn't take it. He broke down and ran out, crying.

Even in the hallway, they could hear him sobbing, which just made the laughter in the classroom even louder.

James shook his head and sighed. He was a good guy, so why did people always have to mess with him?

"Anyone else got questions? If not, class is over," James said, heading back to the lectern.

No one raised their hands.

But just as James was about to wrap things up, a clear voice rang out, "James, since you're so good at this, how do you fix a broken heart?"

It was Jennifer, standing up in the crowd. She looked at James with red eyes and a faint smile, but anyone present could tell she was anything but calm. Her heart was in a state of profound unrest.

James's eyes widened, and his calm demeanor cracked, showing a hint of unease and panic.

James pretended not to hear Jennifer and announced, "Class is over."Then he started gathering his stuff, ready to bolt. But just as he took a couple of steps, Jennifer's voice cut through the room again, "James, if you don't answer me, I won't make it past tomorrow!"

James froze. He turned around and saw Jennifer's tears streaming down her face, her eyes red and brimming with a complex blend of emotion—infatuation, sadness, regret, pain, and pleading.

His heart felt like it was in a vice, and he struggled to breathe. He closed his eyes, trying to calm down, but it was no use.

The room, packed with students and even folks like Eryx, went dead silent. Everyone was staring at James and Jennifer, their faces full of surprise and curiosity. They could smell the drama, and no one was about to leave, even though the bell had rung.

After a few seconds, James opened his eyes, shook his head, and said, "I'm just a regular doctor, not a shrink or a relationship guru. I can't help you."

He turned to leave again.

But Jennifer's voice stopped him in his tracks, "James, I'm sorry."

Her tears flowed freely now, streaming down her cheeks. Her crying was so heart-wrenching that everyone felt a pang of sympathy.

James felt his heart twist at the sound of her sobbing. He had spent so long convincing himself to be ready to leave at any moment. He knew the Smith Family would come for him soon, and once he was back, he'd be their heir, with no ties to the Johnson Family. They'd erase all traces of him in Lindwood City.

Jennifer would be out of his life, relegated to a mere memory, like two parallel lines destined never to intersect again.

Today's lecture was supposed to be his last contribution to domestic medical skills for Edwin.

But he never expected to run into Jennifer now.

Seeing her tears, her pain, her regret, her pleading—it was like chains wrapping around him, holding him in place.

The room was oppressively silent. James stood there, remaining silent. He had no idea what to say.

Jennifer left her seat and started walking towards him.
