Chapter 99 Be My Bodyguard

The person was definitely James.

Originally, he didn't want to intervene, but this man with the big gold chain crossed the line. If the man just took advantage verbally, he wouldn't interrupt immediately, but if he actually dared to lay hands on Harmony, James had no choice but to give him a lesson.
James didn't have much fondness for Harmony, but that didn't mean he would stand by and watch.

"Hey, buddy, isn't this a bit too much?" James squinted his eyes, smiling calmly.

The man with the big gold chain's face changed slightly. He felt like his wrist was locked in a vise, unable to move. "Are you trying to teach me a lesson?!" he exclaimed.

He suddenly kicked towards James, who easily dodged and with a casual push, sent the man stumbling backward, falling to the ground in a sorry state.

Harmony's mouth fell open, stunned and dumbfounded, her expression vacant.

Initially feeling hopeless and cornered, she never expected James to step in to help. After all, in her impression, James was a weak-willed waste. Even his silence before the interference seemed like he was petrified in her eyes.
So, when James did step in, she was somehow unbelievable.

What surprised her even more was how effortlessly James pushed the big man with the gold chain away. Considering the man's larger build, it was quite a feat.

Not just her but many onlookers were shocked as well, since James always appeared weak.

"Damn!" The man with the big gold chain got up from the ground, furious, yelled furiously as he pointed at James, "You're asking for death, I'll kill you!"

With that, he grabbed a nearby beer bottle and charged towards James.

Harmony immediately tensed up, and urgently said, "James, be careful..."

But before she could finish her warning, there was a loud 'bang'. James kicked the man, sending him flying and crashing into a table, tumbling over.

James sighed. He really didn't want to resort to violence, especially in front of Harmony. Maintaining his image of being useless was preferable because he did not want Harmony to misunderstand that his behavior was out of love.

The other two thugs, witnessing James easily take down their leader, were both angry and fearful, feeling like they had messed with the wrong guy.

They hesitated, exchanging glances, not immediately making any rash moves.

"Corey! Allen! You two idiots, get him!" The man with the gold chain, in pain, cursed as he crawled on the floor. James's kick had nearly knocked the wind out of him.

Corey and Allen, following their leader's command, one grabbed a beer bottle, the other a metal chair, and shouted as they charged towards James. Despite their intimidating appearance, many men in the vicinity quickly retreated, fearing getting caught in the crossfire. They all believed James was in for trouble this time; outnumbered and outsized, there would be no chance of winning.

Harmony also tensed up, her heart racing.

James's lips curled slightly into a smirk, a contemptuous smirk appearing. Since he had already taken action, he decided to no longer hold back. With swift kicks, in the dim light, no one could clearly see his movements.

They only witnessed Corey and Allen screaming as they were sent flying, crashing into two tables behind them, bottles and glasses shattering over their heads, leaving them in a sorry state.

At that moment, as the lights brightened, illuminating James's cold face, he appeared particularly handsome.

Harmony was momentarily stunned.

The man with the big gold chain felt a chill down his spine, realizing he had made a big mistake that offended such a terrifying man.

"Now, get lost," he said coldly. James's eyes narrowed, causing the man with the gold chain to shudder, quickly getting up and slinking away.

James clapped his hands, turning to Harmony. He said, nonchalantly, "It's safe now, and you should head back. If you ever go out for a drink again, remember to bring a bodyguard."

Only then did Harmony snap out of her daze. Looking at James with sparkling, captivating eyes, she said, "James, have you practiced martial arts?"

James lazily replied, "No."

Ignoring his casual response, Harmony caught up to him, walking side by side, staring straight at James, and eagerly offered, "You haven't found a job yet, right? I want to hire you as my bodyguard, with a salary negotiable; what do you say?"

James didn't respond, noticing it had started raining again as he furrowed his brow.

Harmony bugged him, "Hey, are you going to answer?"

James feigned ignorance, and said, "Huh? What did you say just now?"

"You!" Harmony was infuriated by his indifference. This damn James must be a total nerd.
Oddly enough, despite being ignored by James this time, Harmony wasn't as angry as before.

"Come be my bodyguard, and I'll pay you a million a year," Harmony boldly stated. She stood tall and confident, thinking James wouldn't be able to refuse.

To her surprise, James immediately rejected without hesitation, "Not interested."

Harmony was infuriated, and offered again, "Is the pay too low? I'll raise it to two million for you."
Rolling his eyes, James replied curtly, "Harmony, have you forgotten? Your brother paid me a billion for curing your strange illness. Do you think I need money?"

There was one thing James didn't mention: Michael did indeed pay him a billion for the treatment, but James donated it to charity the next day, and now he didn't have much money left.

Oh right, Harmony suddenly remembered her big brother giving James a billion for the treatment.

Her big brother was such an idiot, why did he give James so much money? Harmony started complaining about Michael. If he hadn't given so much, James would have agreed eagerly. It was all her brother's fault!

"So how can I get you to be my bodyguard?" Harmony and James clashed, the more James refused, the more Harmony wanted him to agree.

James said, "Tell me, why should I be your bodyguard?"

Harmony was momentarily stumped, unable to come up with a logical reason.

"Alright, Harmony, you don't have to tease me. I know you dislike me, there's no need for this. After all, I saved your life," James reminded her and sighed heavily.

Hearing this, Harmony blushed, recalling the scene from that day when she was seen by James in the nude.

"You have the guts to say that? No one has ever seen my body!" Harmony glared.

James cautiously remarked, "It was necessary for treatment. I did ask for your consent, and I didn't take advantage of you, did I?"

Seeing Harmony grinding her teeth, James added, "Hey, you don't want me to take responsibility, do you? Since I was the only one who has seen your body."

"Ugh! Damn you!" Harmony spat, though her heart was inexplicably racing.

Just then, a surprised voice came from behind James, "Harmony, is that you?"

Harmony trembled at the sound, looking up to see a handsome man striding towards them.
