Chapter 208 An Unexpected Coincidence

"Harmony's heading to M City, too?" James repeated, picturing the fiery heiress behind the wheel of her sleek sports car. He quickly tried to backtrack. "That's really not necessary, Mr. Brown. I've already got my ticket. Plus, it might not even be on her route."

Michael waved off his concerns like they were nothing. "Don't sweat it, James. High-speed rail tickets are cheap. I'll buy you a hundred more if you need them."

James winced. Arguing with Michael's generosity, especially when it involved his sister, was pointless. Still, he had a bad feeling about this. "It's not about the money, Mr. Brown. It's just... wouldn't it look bad for Ms. Brown if people saw us traveling together?"

Michael, completely missing James's discomfort, laughed. "Don't be ridiculous, James. Harmony wouldn't care."

"It's not her I'm worried about," James muttered under his breath. He was a married man, for crying out loud! The last thing he needed was to be seen gallivanting around with a beautiful heiress.

Before James could voice his concerns, Michael was already giving orders, leaving no room for argument. "It's settled then. Harmony's about to leave. She'll pick you up. Have fun!"

And with that, the line went dead, leaving James staring at his phone in a daze.

True to Michael's word, Harmony arrived shortly after, her sleek Ferrari turning heads as she pulled up to the curb. She looked every bit the wealthy socialite, designer sunglasses perched on her head, a confident smirk on her lips.

"Get in," she commanded, her voice surprisingly husky.

Resigned to his fate, James climbed into the passenger seat, his heart sinking as he realized how cramped it was. Harmony, as if reading his mind, chuckled. "Don't worry, I don't bite... much."

He fastened his seatbelt, his gaze lingering on her outfit. She wore skin-tight black leather pants that left little to the imagination, and he couldn't help but be momentarily mesmerized.

Catching his eye, Harmony smirked. "Like what you see?" she purred, amusement in her voice.

Flustered, James quickly averted his gaze. "Just admiring the upholstery," he mumbled, cheeks burning.

"Hold on tight," she said, her voice suddenly serious.

Before he could process her words, she slammed her foot on the gas pedal, and the Ferrari roared forward, pinning him against his seat. The world outside became a blur as they sped through the city streets, Harmony navigating traffic with a mix of skill and reckless abandon.

James, his knuckles white as he gripped the dashboard, could only marvel at her driving. She handled the powerful car like it was an extension of herself, her confidence behind the wheel both exhilarating and terrifying.

They made it to M City in record time, Harmony pushing the Ferrari to its limits on the open highway. By the time they arrived, James was pale and slightly green, but Harmony seemed completely unfazed.

"What brings you to M City?" she asked casually as she parked the car.

James, after taking a moment to catch his breath, explained about the traditional and Western medicine conference, surprised when Harmony's lips curved into a knowing smile.

"Don't tell me you're here for the conference too," he said with disbelief in his voice.

Harmony laughed, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "What can I say? I have a thirst for knowledge... and a soft spot for traditional medicine."

James raised an eyebrow, skeptical. He couldn't imagine Harmony, with her designer clothes and luxurious lifestyle, having much interest in ancient healing practices.

"Don't look so surprised," she said, her voice taking on a rare note of seriousness. "I may not always show it, but I'm more than just a pretty face. I graduated from Yale, you know."

James, caught off guard by her sudden vulnerability, offered a genuine smile. "I know," he said softly. "I never doubted your intelligence, Harmony."

A blush crept up Harmony's cheeks, and she quickly changed the subject. "So, Dr. Wheeler invited you to the conference?" she asked, her voice regaining its usual confidence.

James nodded, explaining his encounter with Edwin at Alan's party. The older doctor's invitation had surprised him, but he had also been honored to be recognized for his skills.

"He seems to think you're something special," Harmony said, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"I'm just a humble practitioner," James replied, trying to sound modest.

Hearing his words, Harmony felt embarrassed by his fake modesty.

After a moment of awkward silence, James asked, "By the way, what are you doing in M City?"

He remembered the last time he and Jennifer came to M City to find a distributor, and Harmony was also there.

Harmony's lips curled into a slight smile, and she blinked, saying, "Coincidentally, I'm also here for the traditional and Western medicine conference."

James was stunned.
