Chapter 367 Emberlyn Got Harassed?
The private room was left with Dennis and the crew. And it took quite a while for the bizarreness of what had just happened to sink in.
Leopold's family had already seen James's skills, so they weren't as floored. But for Kael, it was a total mind-bender. His brain was still spinning, mouth dry, feeling like what just went down was straight out of a dream.
He turned to Dennis, "Dennis, what’s James’s deal? This is nuts. Even Kieran slapped himself like hell when he heard James’s name. Kieran’s the big cheese in Lindwood City. Even Quillon can’t touch him. Dennis, you’ve been keeping secrets. You didn’t even tell me you’ve got such a badass son-in-law. When are you bringing James to the Golden Moon Hotel for a meal? My treat."
Kael was genuinely hyped, showering Dennis with praise and apologizing like crazy for what just happened.
Dennis hadn’t said a word this whole time. Suddenly, he slapped himself hard and muttered with deep regret, "Idiot. Why did I do that?"
Everyone jumped at his sudden slap, not getting why he did it. Only Kaitlyn knew what Dennis was kicking himself over. She was full of regret, too, thinking James had been wrecked by that big accident. For Jennifer’s happiness, she had pushed James to divorce, only to find out James was perfectly fine. Dennis and Kaitlyn had no mood to stick around for dinner. They bolted with their family after Jennifer came out.
"Leopold, do you think Jennifer and James are divorced?" Eirian tugged at Leopold’s sleeve, curious.
"No way," Leopold said, shaking his head in surprise. "James is so capable, has a great personality, and is always polite. Jennifer would have to be nuts to divorce him."
"There’s still hope... Feelings between two people can be unpredictable," Eirian said.
Meanwhile, James had no clue about any of this. He was chilling in his dorm, practicing.
Through these days of practice, the scars on his body had completely vanished. Even his face was back to its original state, looking even better than before the fire.
Originally, his looks were just okay, definitely not handsome. But now, he had a total glow-up. His appearance was still the same, but his features were more refined, making him look way more handsome. It felt like he had plastic surgery, but it was a natural transformation in details and vibe.
He walked to the mirror, checking out his familiar yet more handsome face, grinning with satisfaction. 'Perfect, even more handsome. I did it. I wonder if Kaitlyn and Dennis will regret it when they see me now?' James thought but quickly shook it off. It was pointless.
After splashing some water on his face and stepping out of the bathroom, James bumped into Arianwen coming out of her room. She saw him and froze for a second, surprise flickering in her eyes.
"Your wounds are all healed?" she asked.
"Yeah, don't I look way more handsome now?" James grinned.
Arianwen stayed quiet for a moment, then said, "More likely to attract women."
James chuckled, "I know, right?"
To James, Arianwen was usually as cold as ice, never saying stuff like that.
Arianwen had gotten used to James's flirts over the past few days, feeling no ripples in her heart. She questioned, "What's your next move?"
Of course, Arianwen saw right through him. James was a bit taken aback, shrugged, and replied casually, "Probably time to head back to the Smith family."
"What about Jennifer? Your family probably won't accept an ordinary person as your wife," Arianwen pointed out.
James went silent, then smiled and said, "I'm going back alone."
"What about me? What should I do next?" Arianwen asked, looking up at James.
"You? Go back to where you came from. Get back to your old life," James said with a smile. He acted chill, but inside, he wasn't at all.
Arianwen said quietly, "I want to follow you."
James made a small joke, "What? You wanna be my second wife?"
Arianwen's lips twitched slightly, then she said, "As long as you don't mind, I can."
"Wait." James had just picked up a cup to drink water. Hearing her words, he almost spat it out. Luckily, Arianwen dodged in time.
"Arianwen, you've changed. You're even joking with me now." James rolled his eyes.
But Arianwen wasn't mad. Her expression stayed solemn as she said, "I'm serious."
James was flustered by her serious gaze. Her sudden reaction left him at a loss for how to respond.
Seeing his awkwardness, Arianwen felt a pang in her heart, then suddenly smiled, "Just kidding. Look how scared you are."
But her acting was terrible. Her smile was super stiff. Her feeble explanation only made James feel more awkward.
Arianwen turned to go back to her room but added, "I was joking earlier. I'll never get married in this lifetime."
At this point, James really didn't know how to respond.
The next day, James got back from his morning workout and found several missed calls on his phone, all from Emberlyn. He called back, "Hey, Emberlyn, what's up?"
Immediately, Emberlyn's pleasant voice came through the phone, "James, get to the Iron Fist Boxing Club quick. Someone bullied me."
"What?" James was stunned. With Emberlyn's tough personality, someone actually managed to mess with her?
