Chapter 211 Ignoring James' Advice, Suffering the Consequences

"He grabbed my hand again!"

Harmony's heart, which had just calmed down, started racing again. This kind of adrenaline rush was something she hadn't felt in ages. She thought he was taking advantage of her, but she didn't feel any disgust or resistance. Instead, there was a strange sense of enjoyment, so she barely registered what James was saying.

Harmony seemed completely unfazed.

Seeing Harmony's indifferent expression, James let go of her hand and said, "That's weird. We just got to M City. How could someone already be targeting us?"

Harmony finally snapped out of her daze and came back to reality. "Wait, are you saying someone's targeting us and planning to do something to us?!"

James rolled his eyes.

‘Her reaction time was glacial. How long had it taken her to catch on finally?’ he thought.

"Yeah, so we shouldn't look back to avoid tipping them off."

"No way! We just got to M City and randomly picked this place to eat. How could anyone be following us?" Harmony quickly noticed something was off and said skeptically, "Could it be someone just acting on a whim?"

Her reasoning made sense. After all, she drove a Ferrari and was incredibly attractive, so it was normal to attract the attention of some unsavory characters. But even so, she was scared. Plus, there were five of them. If they actually ran into them, they'd be in trouble!

She didn't have much faith in James. With James's physique, if they ran into these professional thugs, he wouldn't stand a chance against them.

"Probably not." James shook his head. "These guys are clearly pros. Unlike others who openly stare, they're sneaky, but their gazes are cold and filled with hatred. They obviously know us and are deliberately targeting us. It's strange, though. Only a few people knew we were coming to M City. How did they find us?"

Hearing this, Harmony became even more uneasier. "What should we do then? How about we leave and go somewhere else to eat and lose them on the way?"

"No need. If we leave now, it'll definitely arouse their suspicion, making them aware that we've noticed them, which would alert them," James said with a smile. "Besides, they know we came to M City and can accurately find us, which means they have some means we don't know about. Even if we leave now, we can't escape their tracking."

James squinted slightly. He had already guessed who was targeting them. Someone who would go to such lengths to cause trouble was likely Jared.

Originally, James hadn't taken Jared seriously, even though Jared had provoked him several times. James never considered Jared a worthy opponent.

But now that Jared wanted revenge, James wouldn't be polite. Just like with Curtis last time, James didn't mind giving Jared a harsh lesson.

"I wouldn't harm others proactively, but if someone wanted to harm me, I wouldn't let them off."

This was James's principle.

He had a kind heart, but that didn't mean he would be kind to everyone. For people like Jared, there was no need for kindness.

James looked at the five men with a fierce gaze filled with killing intent. It was clear they intended to kill them. Or rather, Jared planned to kill James. Since that was the case, James was definitely going to retaliate against Jared.

Harmony didn't know what James was thinking at the moment. Seeing James's calm expression, she thought he was putting on a brave face.

‘Even if James knows some medical skills and a bit of witchcraft, so what? We are about to face five ill-intentioned thugs,’ she thought.

She hadn't considered that James was not only skilled in medicine and witchcraft but also had strong combat skills. So she was very anxious and said, "We can't just wait here to die! We have to think of a way out, or it will be troublesome if they catch us. How about we call the police?"

James shook his head. "What's the use of calling the police in this situation? They haven't made a move yet. Even if the police come, they can't do anything. Besides, calling the police now would also alert them, which isn't good."

Harmony said angrily, "That's still better than waiting here foolishly! And I bet Jared sent these people. He hates you to the core now. If he catches you, he won't let you off easily!"

It seemed Harmony wasn't entirely clueless, realizing that Jared had sent these people.

"Don't worry," James said calmly, even smiling, trying to show Harmony that there was really no need to worry.

Unfortunately, it didn't have the desired effect. Harmony was still very worried, perceiving James as arrogant and audacious for attempting to display bravado in such a challenging situation.

Seeing Harmony's reaction, he suddenly realized something. Not every woman was like Jennifer, willing to trust him.

He shook his head helplessly. He really was something, comparing Harmony to Jennifer.

"No, I still need to call my brother and have him send some bodyguards over. With so many people in the restaurant, I doubt they'd dare to make a move on us." Harmony took out her phone and was about to dial.

James frowned and couldn't help but stop her. "Ms. Brown, there's no need to call your brother. Trust me, I won't let anything happen to you!"

Harmony rolled her eyes, feeling a bit impatient. Her impression of James dropped a little. She had thought James was different from other men, but it turned out she had overestimated him. James was also arrogant and liked to show off.

And she didn't like men like that.

"Okay." She nodded perfunctorily, not directly refusing but secretly texting Michael to arrange for bodyguards to come over.

Michael received her message and immediately panicked. He quickly called his friends in M City and contacted the nearest bodyguard company to send bodyguards for rescue.

James noticed her little actions but didn't bother to expose her. After all, he already knew it was Jared who had sent these people. When they returned to Lindwood City, there would be plenty of opportunities for revenge.

For now, he decided to play it by ear. After all, not every woman would choose to trust him unconditionally.

Understanding this, he didn't dwell on it any longer. When the waiter brought the food, he started eating.

He was indeed hungry and didn't hold back, eating quickly.

Harmony had already witnessed James's appetite at a banquet before, so she wasn't too surprised. She just wondered how James could eat so much and still be so thin.

But the surrounding customers didn't know this. Seeing James wolfing down his food, they were all stunned. Some even wondered if the food James was eating was different from theirs. How could one person eat so much?

Firstly, James was indeed hungry. Secondly, he was going to need energy for the upcoming confrontation, so he had to eat as much as he could now.

In stark contrast to his wolfing down, Harmony ate very elegantly, taking small bites. Even though they were eating in a restaurant, she made it feel like dining in a high-end hotel.

Harmony didn't have a big appetite. She probably ate only a tenth of what James did before she was full.

She kept checking her phone and chatting with people. When she saw that the local bodyguards were about to arrive, she relaxed.

"Are you full? If you are, let's go," Harmony said, her smile returning.

"Okay." James nodded.

When the owner came to settle the bill, they had spent over five hundred dollars.

Originally, Harmony was the center of attention, but because of the way James ate, many people were now looking at him. When he stood up, his stomach was still flat, which was unbelievable to them. How was that even possible?

"Where are we going now?" James asked.

Harmony replied, "Let's book a hotel first. It's getting late, and we can go to the conference tomorrow."

"Okay." James agreed.

After they left, the five men quickly settled their bill, got into a car, and followed them.

James noticed all of this but remained calm. He was curious to see how capable the bodyguards Harmony had called would be.

Because these five men were all very skilled professional thugs, two of them were even experts in martial arts, at least at a professional level. Ordinary bodyguards wouldn't stand a chance against them.

Soon, Harmony received a call. It was a man's voice. After a brief conversation, Harmony's lips curled into a confident smile. She told James, "My brother's bodyguards have arrived. They're all retired special forces, very skilled. We won't go to the hotel first. Let's find a secluded place to lure them out and let the bodyguards handle them. I want to see what that bastard Jared is up to!"

She snorted heavily, her face full of confidence, as if she could already see Jared's men getting beaten up.

James shook his head helplessly. He knew although Harmony's family was wealthy, she still lacked social experience.

He nodded and replied, "Okay."

However, his straightforwardness made Harmony see him as indecisive, lowering her impression of him even more.

Following the bodyguards' instructions, Harmony deliberately drove into a secluded riverside road. Apart from the occasional passing vehicles and a few couples seeking thrills, there were hardly any people at this time.

From a distance, she saw a few bodyguards hiding in a nearby pavilion, signaling her with a phone flashlight. Harmony's mood was completely relaxed. She parked the Ferrari by the roadside and said to James, "Get out of the car. Let's give Jared's men a big surprise!"

Her face, illuminated by the surroundings, looked very flushed, showing how excited she was.
