Chapter 34 You're a Cheat

Jennifer frowned and asked, "Was John the one who told you to say this? Dr. Wilson, when did John buy you off?"

The chubby woman looked slightly embarrassed but quickly admitted, "Mr. Phillips did approach me. He genuinely has feelings for you, waiting for you all this time, not even finding a girlfriend.

"Besides, Mr. Phillips is exceptional, with a house, a car, a stable job, a high income, and good looks. Marrying him would definitely be a good idea."

"Stop." Jennifer sounded impatient. "Even if I divorced James, I wouldn't choose John."

At that moment, a man emerged from around the corner, and the chubby woman exclaimed, "Mr. Phillips?!"

Jennifer looked over and indeed saw John standing there stiffly, apparently having overheard their conversation.

Meanwhile, on James' side, after finishing his call, he couldn't find Carlos anywhere. Even Rodney and the others were missing.

Finally, with the help of a server, James learned that after he left, they had lost tens of thousands more, wiping out all their previous winnings.

The losses shattered Rodney's mindset. Eventually, he grits his teeth and goes to play high-stakes poker.

Poker was the biggest and most challenging game here even for those who were skilled, attracting wealthy bosses with good skills.

Rodney initially didn't plan to play poker, not due to lack of skill but because he knew that once involved, the bosses would keep a close eye on him, making it hard to win in the future.

Now forced to play, he had lost all the money he had won earlier and needed to win it back!

Fearless in poker, it was his specialty, and he was almost sure to win.

Determined to win big and never return, he gathered the others' chips, barely reaching the required three million dollars for entry. These funds were no longer his winnings but their own money, exchanged for chips at the counter.

"Don't blabber. With me, the Gambling God, can you possibly lose your money?" Rodney scammed them confidently.

"I'll be honest with you. I deliberately lost in the previous rounds to lull the boss here. Now, I'm here to win big and secure my future. Do you think I would really lose money? Do you think the title of Gambling God is just for show?" he claimed.

"My real skill isn't in the typical games but in poker." He leaned back, exuding confidence, pushing the chips forward. He taunted, "Of course, if you don't believe me, you're free to take back your chips."

They had lost so much that their minds were no longer clear. Now, all they could think about was winning money, and they didn't have the cool heads needed to analyze Rodney's full-of-holes speech.

One by one, with bloodshot eyes, they gritted their teeth and said, "I believe in the Gambling God!"

"I believe in the Gambling God!"

"The Gambling God will surely help us win money."

Ecstatic internally, Rodney maintained a reluctant facade, "This is your decision. Don't blame me if we lose later."

They shook their heads, assuring him.

When James entered, they were already engaged in the game.

Apart from Rodney, there were four others at the table, making it a total of five gamblers.

Seated directly across from Rodney was a bombshell, not too old, maybe 25 or 26. Her looks weren't anything out of the ordinary, but her figure was a different story, with curves in all the right places. She was the same dealer who was shaking the dice cup outside earlier.

The other three were wealthy bosses.

"Carlos, what's going on? Why are you all here?" James approached Carlos, asking with concern.

Carlos sighed, looking dejected, as he said, "Don't mention it. Luck wasn't on my side today. I lost all the money I had won earlier. I should have listened to you and stopped after losing that fifty thousand."

James had anticipated this situation. He remarked, "Gambling isn't a good thing, Carlos. It's best to stay away from it."

"Okay." Carlos nodded, then his gaze fell on the pile of chips on the table, totaling several million. His eyes gleamed with fervor.

He said stubbornly, "Now, we'll see what the Gambling God can do. Hopefully, he can work his magic and win a substantial sum back. Then, today will have been worth it!"

Observing Rodney's increasingly dark expression, an aura of misfortune surrounding him, James sighed, "It might be difficult."

"Not at all! Remember what I told you? The Gambling God's real skill isn't in dice games but in poker. He can manipulate the cards!" Carlos said, growing excited.

The game had begun, and it was evident that Rodney was skilled. After two rounds, he had won nearly three million, boosting the spirits of Carlos and the others.

However, by the third round, the female dealer on the opposite side escalated her game. James could tell she was more skilled than Rodney.

As expected, in that third round, Rodney carelessly lost the three million he had just won in the previous rounds, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

Quickly, the fourth round commenced.

This round, Rodney's cards showed two Kings on the table, and the card facing down was another King, making it a three-of-a-kind Kings, a winning hand.

Seeing this, the other three big shots, not willing to accept it, threw in the towel.

So, it boiled down to Rodney and the knockout dealer across the table going all in.

Rodney beamed, taking out a piece of chocolate, popping it into his mouth, then twirling a finger ring on his left hand, smiling provocatively at the female dealer.

He said to her, "For the final round, let's make it exciting. Three million, poker."

With that, he pushed the chips forward on the table, propped up on the edge with his right hand, challenging the female dealer. "Are you in or not?"

The female dealer also smiled, and rebutted, "Are you so sure I don't have a royal flush?"

"Hahaha..." Rodney laughed heartily. "I've already taken the King of Hearts. Where's your royal flush coming from?"

"Bold." The female dealer smirked, then pushed her chips forward, joining the poker game. She announced, "Let's reveal the cards."

Rodney, brimming with joy, stood up, whipped out his card, and slammed it onto the table. "You're toast! I told you I had the King of Hearts, and I meant it!" he boasted.

However, when his card was flipped, it was a measly Three Diamonds. Instantly, his face froze, "What the hell! I had the King of Hearts... Damn it, you pulled a fast one, you're a cheat!"
