Chapter 592 The Rescue
The commotion was so loud that not only Preston but also Jennifer was startled, thinking it was an earthquake.
"Holy crap! Who?" Preston turned around angrily, cursing fiercely.
However, as soon as he turned his head, he saw a dark figure teleport from the doorway. The speed was so fast that it exceeded what his eyes could capture. He blinked, and the figure was already in front of him, causing a gust of wind that disrupted his breathing.
"Who are you?" Before he could finish his sentence, the dark figure reached out a hand, grabbed his neck, and lifted him single-handedly.
Preston was immediately stunned. He realized his feet were off the ground, and he was being lifted entirely! His neck felt extremely uncomfortable, as if the immense force was about to tear his head from his body.
Finally, as he was lifted and no longer backlit, he saw the face of the dark figure. It was an ordinary-looking man, but his face was extremely cold, his eyes emitting a bone-chilling coldness, devoid of any emotion, like a demon crawling out of hell. Preston felt an unprecedented fear and began to tremble all over.
"A monster." He thought he had encountered a monster.
This person was not a monster but James.
After getting out of the car, James rushed to the clinic at top speed. From 300 feet away, he heard the commotion inside and knew Jennifer was being threatened. His anger exploded, and he violently kicked open the door. When he saw Jennifer being cornered and harassed by a man, his rage reached its peak, and he had a strong urge to kill.
"You dare touch my woman, die!" James's eyes emitted a powerful killing intent, almost tangible, scaring Preston into a blank state, wetting his pants.
Just one look caused irreparable trauma to Preston's mind, leaving him to live a muddled life forever.
Jennifer finally comprehended the situation; realizing that James intended to kill Preston, she urgently cried out, "James! Don't kill him! You'll face legal repercussions too!"
Her initial reaction was the realization that if James killed Preston, he would become a murderer and face legal consequences. She couldn't bear the thought of witnessing James being punished by the law.
James heard her words, and his killing intent lessened. He didn't break Preston's neck but casually threw him against a nearby pillar, where the sound of bones breaking could be heard. When Preston fell, he had already fainted from the pain. Now, with severe fractures all over his body, he would be a cripple even if he survived.
"Jennifer, you've lost weight." James looked at Jennifer, his previously cold and frightening eyes now gentle. He held Jennifer's face and softly said.
Hearing his words, Jennifer couldn't hold back her tears anymore!
She threw herself into James's arms, hugging him tightly and repeatedly faltering, "I...I'm so sorry."
James's eyes also turned red, and tears flowed down.
In the past few days, Jennifer had become so haggard as well as James.
These past few days, his heart has been overwhelmed with torment, remorse, anger, and longing. Moreover, he has been immensely worried about the safety of Jennifer, Dennis, and Kaitlyn. It can be said that he hasn't had a good night's sleep, and were it not for his robust constitution, anyone else in his place would have likely succumbed to a grave illness by now.
Even so, his heart was very tired.
He wasn't afraid of any difficulties or obstacles, his will as strong as iron, but he couldn't fathom why Jennifer left him.
Now, he had finally found Jennifer, appearing just in time before she was violated, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He couldn't imagine if he had been half a minute late, Jennifer might have been assaulted by Preston!
That was something he absolutely couldn't accept.
Fortunately, he arrived at the critical moment, and Jennifer was only slightly injured, not violated.
Jennifer hugged James, crying uncontrollably.
She had underestimated her endurance and her deep love for James. She seriously doubted that if she never saw James again, she wouldn't live past forty!
In factShe had only been away from James for a week and already showed signs of hair loss.
James held Jennifer, feeling her familiar scent, and his broken heart began to heal bit by bit.
Jennifer was James's first woman and the one he would protect for a lifetime.
He gently stroked Jennifer's hair and softly comforted, "Don't ever leave me again, okay? Or I'll go crazy."
Jennifer kept crying, unable to say a complete sentence.
She wept in James's arms for over ten minutes before gradually coming to a stop. By then, his clothes were already soaked with her tears.
"I'm sorry." She finally sobbed.
James pushed her away slightly, held her face, and without saying anything, gently kissed her lips.
Jennifer's heart trembled, but she didn't resist. She closed her eyes and enjoyed James's tenderness.
Finally, after kissing for several minutes until Jennifer was almost out of breath, James let her go. "This is your punishment for leaving me without a word. If you do it again, I won't be so forgiving."
Jennifer nodded lightly, feeling extremely guilty. "James, we're from different worlds. Being with me will only drag you down. You have a broader..."
James interrupted her with another kiss, only letting her go when she was breathless. He whispered sternly, "I'll give you one more chance, say it again."
"I..." Jennifer stammered.
"You're a smart person, how could you be so stupid to listen to Lisa?" James voiced angrily. "We're husband and wife, how could you drag me down? Besides, I know what I want. Lisa and I are only engaged for business interests."
Jennifer continued, "But Alistair said if you don't marry Lisa, you'll never be able to return to the Smith family. That would be bad for your future, and you have so many enemies now."
James's heart softened, and he gently tapped Jennifer's nose. "Don't you know how capable I am? These so-called enemies mean nothing to me. I'll kill anyone who comes."
"But you still need to return to the Smith Manor." Jennifer added.
James nodded, "Well, we're going back to the Smith Manor right now. I've reconciled with Alistair, and he agreed to let me bring you back. I'm still the heir."
"Really?" Jennifer was stunned.
"Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you?" James smiled. "Let's bounce. I'll take you back now so my mom can meet her daughter-in-law."
