Chapter 10
Brenda couldn't hide her excitement when she saw Elizabeth criticizing her.
With a hurt look, she said, "Sorry, I didn't know you were unhappy with these living conditions."
"I thought you'd go along with the show's arrangements and stay with us."
Kevin frowned at Elizabeth. "If you don't want to stay, just say so. Why talk to Brenda like that?"
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow at Brenda. "When did I say I was unhappy with these living conditions or not following the show's arrangements?"
She turned a cold gaze to Kevin. "I was just expressing my own wishes, asking Brenda not to speak for me. Is that wrong?"
"What you say doesn't dictate my actions. This isn't your home, and no one has to cater to you siblings."
Raymond, always one to stir the pot, whistled. "Well said, no one here has to cater to you."
Kevin glared at Raymond, then looked at Elizabeth unhappily. "Then what do you mean?"
Elizabeth pointed to the bed in the room. "This bed is just a wooden plank, no mattress or bedding. How are we supposed to sleep?"
"You siblings might be able to endure sleeping on a bare wooden bed for a week, but I can't."
"That's why I asked Brenda not to speak for me."
"My original intention was to discuss with Arthur's team to see if they could provide some mattresses and bedding."
Kevin and Brenda were left speechless.
Raymond laughed. "I can't even endure sleeping on a bare wooden bed for a day, let alone a week."
Nancy chimed in. "Sorry, I can't do it either."
Ronald added, "I can't do it either."
"And sleeping on it for a few days would be too much for our bodies."
Brenda hadn't expected her words to cause such dissatisfaction among everyone. She silently cursed Elizabeth in her heart. Her eyes reddened slightly, and she bit her lip, saying, "Sorry, I meant that even without wardrobes and tables, if the male guests can stay, we female guests can, too. That's why you misunderstood."
Seeing Brenda like this, Kevin comforted her with a heartbroken expression, "You were raised in comfort; it's understandable that you didn't think of it."
Elizabeth looked at Brenda and said, "I didn't say much just now, did I? Your eyes are red, making it seem like I bullied you. I was just speaking the truth. Please don't harm me again."
The viewers were discerning, and when the truth came out, her hypocrisy would surely be exposed. Elizabeth had planned from the start how to set traps for Kevin and Brenda. Of course, this was also due to Kevin and Brenda's actions, as they kept coming to her. If they had quietly participated in the show, they wouldn't have fallen into the traps.
As for being scolded, she didn't mind; after all, the fans of these two had always disliked her. The more they scolded her now, the more dramatic the reversal would be later.
Indeed, Kevin and Brenda's fans were currently berating Elizabeth in the comments, thinking she was too much and bullying Brenda. Raymond's fans, seeing this, couldn't stand it. They pointed out that Brenda was trying to create a strong yet fragile persona, and it wasn't Elizabeth's fault.
Raymond's fan base was much larger than that of the Clark siblings combined, and they were more sharp-tongued and incisive, quickly silencing the opposition. The comments section was a battlefield, and the atmosphere in the yard became tense.
