Chapter 415 We Don't Care
Nicole had already looked into this. She didn't hesitate, "A lot of them are really fed up with Clark Entertainment. I've talked to a few of the artists. They think Clark is only promoting them now because of you. It looks like they're getting a fair shot at resources, but it's all just talk. They figure it won't be long before the higher-ups go back to their old ways. So, they'd rather jump ship to our studio for better opportunities. They just don't trust Clark's management anymore."
Nicole went on, "Some of them are still holding grudges and don't want to deal with the people who oppressed and bullied them. They just didn't have anywhere else to go before. Other entertainment companies usually don't take in artists who aren't popular. It's more expensive and time-consuming to re-train them than to train new ones. Plus, their contracts haven't expired yet, so they couldn't leave. But now, seeing Quentin join us and immediately get good resources, and with Clark trying to get them to sign new contracts with longer terms and higher penalties, they're ready to switch."
Clark Entertainment was doing this to protect themselves from Elizabeth. It was also a sign they were scared of her. Everyone in Elizabeth's studio was pumped and proud because of this.
Elizabeth grinned, "So that's how it is. Alright, if Clark wants to push people our way, we'll take them. Making artists popular again or turning unknowns into stars? That's our thing."
She added, "This could actually be a selling point for our studio. It shows we have strong star-making abilities and can give new hope to those who've been worn down."
She told Shirley and Nicole, "Check out these twenty-some artists. As long as they're decent people, sign them." Then she pulled out a few, "These ones, though, aren't what we need, so leave them out."
These few had bad reputations or intentions. The others seemed fine, just needed to check for any major issues.
Shirley was surprised, "Are we signing so many artists at once?"
Elizabeth smiled, "Since Clark is scared of us getting stronger, let's get stronger and show them." She had plans to expand the studio anyway. Now Loren and his team were practically handing her people and attention. He wanted to suppress her studio, but she wasn't going to just sit back. She'd use this chance to compete.
She emphasized, "But before you sign these artists, make sure they know that just joining our studio doesn't mean instant fame. Sometimes it's not about talent, but about opportunity. We'll plan the best route for them, and if they follow it, their careers should be fine. Like bringing a washed-up artist back to their former glory, or even better. Getting them roles and songs. Fame depends on both talent and luck. I can't promise every artist will become famous, but I'll do my best to find the right resources for them."
Shirley and Nicole both nodded, "Got it, we'll make sure they understand upfront." If everyone was jumping ship just to get famous, that wouldn't work. No one could guarantee fame for everyone who switched over. They needed the right mindset, plus talent and effort, to have a shot at fame. If they were useless, even with resources, it wouldn't last.
The two joked with a smile, "If Mr. Clark and the higher-ups at Clark Entertainment knew that the more they reformed, the more people would jump ship to us, I bet they'd be furious."
Elizabeth laughed, "Oh, they'd definitely be furious. But that's fine, let them be mad. We don't care."
The two nodded, "Alright!" They were happy to see Clark Entertainment fuming after how poorly they'd treated Elizabeth before.
Shirley thought for a moment and said, "Elizabeth, it's not just Clark Entertainment. Lately, artists who have been neglected or suppressed by other companies have been sending us resumes too. If there are good ones among them, should we sign them?"
Elizabeth pondered for a moment and said, "Sign them. We're looking to grow the studio, not just target Clark Entertainment. We should also hire some good managers. Have any managers who have been neglected or suppressed shown interest in joining us?"
Shirley smiled, "Actually, yes. But we weren't hiring managers before, so we politely declined. Should we reach out to them again?"
Elizabeth nodded, "Go ahead and contact them. We don't need to deliberately offend any company. But if anyone tries to suppress you, don't be afraid, I've got your back." They weren't poaching people aggressively; they were just accepting those who were abandoned and wanted to switch over. They hadn't broken any industry rules, just normal development and competition.
In the following weeks, Elizabeth's studio signed more than a dozen artists who had jumped ship from Clark Entertainment. This shocked many in the entertainment industry. People were whispering that Elizabeth was indeed tough. Loren and the higher-ups at Clark Entertainment became a laughingstock. It was the first time anyone had seen reforms meant to elevate artists' status and resources actually drive people away.
When Loren and the higher-ups found out, they were indeed furious. Especially Loren, who was so angry he had headaches and stomachaches.
Elizabeth was really something! He didn't believe that after picking up so many so-called "useless" artists, Elizabeth could turn them all into stars. He was just waiting to see her fail and be embarrassed. Then he would use that to his advantage. He wanted Elizabeth to stick to being a star and fortune-teller and forget about running a studio.
