Chapter 29
On the Other Side
Back in her room, Elizabeth found Nancy staring at her.
Elizabeth smiled, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Nancy didn't hold back, "I didn't expect to hear such big news about you and the movie star."
She had suspected something was off with Eugene, and it turned out he and Elizabeth had once been an item.
Elizabeth shrugged, "Just a result of my youthful impulsiveness."
Seeing her so nonchalant, Nancy chuckled, "Who hasn't liked a bad boy in their youth? It's good you ended it in time."
Nancy herself had been betrayed by a boyfriend before, so she especially despised men like Eugene, who, despite having a girlfriend, still entangled with other women.
The recording Elizabeth had would certainly affect Brenda.
Eugene didn't want to break up but also wanted to help Brenda, asking Elizabeth to delete the recording.
Such unaware wickedness was the worst kind.
Elizabeth nodded, "Yeah, it's good to end it in time."
Nancy thought for a moment, unable to contain her curiosity, and asked, "You and Kevin didn't date too, did you?"
Kevin's flirty manner didn't seem like how one treated a mere friend.
Elizabeth laughed, "How could that be? Kevin and I are related by blood."
This matter would soon be no secret, so there was no harm in telling Nancy in advance.
From Nancy's sense of destiny, she could tell Nancy wasn't the type to stab others in their backs.
Nancy's eyes widened, "What? You and Kevin are related by blood? Are you siblings?"
Elizabeth nodded, "We used to be siblings."
Nancy was puzzled, "Used to be?"
Elizabeth replied, "Before coming to this show, I had just severed ties with him and the rest of the family."
Nancy was taken aback, "Why? Was it because of Brenda?"
Elizabeth said, "A large part of it was because of her."
Nancy asked, "So, you and Brenda are actually sisters?"
Elizabeth shook her head, "No, she was adopted by my parents, and I'm their biological child. But I was lost by Kevin when I was young and only found by the family a year ago. They thought I took Brenda's place after I returned, so they were dissatisfied with me. They wanted me to give in to Brenda in everything, so I couldn't stand it and severed ties with them."
Nancy hadn't expected the truth to be like this.
She said, "Your family is so unreasonable."
Clearly, it was Brenda who took Elizabeth's place, so why should Elizabeth compensate her?
And Kevin lost Elizabeth, yet for Brenda's sake, he treated Elizabeth so poorly.
One could imagine how much Elizabeth had suffered to take the initiative to sever ties with her family.
It certainly wasn't that simple.
Elizabeth smiled indifferently, "I just consider myself without family now."
Nancy admired Elizabeth's clarity and calmness, "It's good you can see it that way."
Nancy was afraid of saying too much and touching Elizabeth's sore spot.
Moreover, Elizabeth didn't seem inclined to continue the topic.
So she changed the subject and asked, "Elizabeth, you said before you could help me see my sense of destiny. Can you do it now?"
Elizabeth nodded, "Sure."
She looked at Nancy's sense of destiny and then took her right hand to examine it.
Elizabeth said, "Apart from your love life, everything else seems smooth."
Nancy asked in surprise, "You can tell my love life is troubled, is that so?"
Elizabeth replied, "Yes, from your sense of destiny, you had a rough relationship. He once helped you, but also betrayed you for another woman. You were once lovers fighting side by side, but later became a couple with a troubled relationship."
She reminded, "Although you have broken up, watch out, he wants to harm you."
Nancy exclaimed in surprise, "You're amazing, you got it all right."
Her ex-boyfriend was indeed her agent.
He had helped her debut and had indeed helped her a lot. After confirming their relationship, she discovered he was secretly intimate with other women, and not just one.
When she confronted him, he dismissed it as mere amusement.
Disgusted, despite her love for him, she decided to end the relationship.
However, Nancy had helped him earn a lot of money and introduced him to many connections through her family.
So she didn't owe him anything.
But after the breakup, he kept pestering her.
The reason she joined this show was to avoid his continued harassment.
Nancy asked, "You said he wants to scheme against me, doesn’t he?"
Elizabeth nodded. "He wants to squeeze every bit of value out of you, so I suggest you apply to the company for a new agent."
Nancy's family was well-connected in the entertainment industry, with many members working in it, wielding considerable influence.
Currently, she was also a highly popular and talented singer.
To that man, she still had a lot of value.
Nancy's surprise deepened, not expecting Elizabeth to even deduce that her ex-boyfriend was her agent.
Their relationship was known only to them, not even their family and friends.
Nancy nodded. "Alright, I'll apply for a new agent as soon as I return to Clifftonshireburg."
Previously, she had hesitated to make a scene out of pride.
She had thought they could remain professional colleagues if not lovers.
But now that she knew he intended to scheme against her, she couldn't tolerate it any longer.
The two chatted for a while longer, growing closer.
### Early the Next Morning
Elizabeth got up around six to practice boxing fitness.
Before long, Raymond emerged from his room.
He saw Elizabeth energetically doing boxing fitness in the yard.
First, he was surprised, then he leaned against the door to watch.
Elizabeth had noticed Raymond long ago but didn't pause.
After finishing her routine, she turned and asked, "Enjoying the view?"
Raymond smiled and nodded. "Yes, very much!"
He gave her a thumbs-up, "Elizabeth, you're amazing!"
Elizabeth chuckled, "Thanks for the compliment."
She asked, "Why are you up so early?"
Raymond replied, "We agreed yesterday to get up early and make pizza today."
Elizabeth hadn't expected him to get up so early just to help her. "Alright, I'll go to the kitchen to prepare. You freshen up and join me."
Raymond nodded, "Okay."
The two headed to the kitchen together, while their follow PD trailed behind, starting the live broadcast.
They wanted the audience to see them making pizza.
The morning audience wasn't large, but there were still over a thousand people waiting for the broadcast.
As soon as the camera started rolling, everyone saw Elizabeth preparing ingredients and Raymond helping.
Noticing the live broadcast, Elizabeth smiled and greeted everyone.
She brought out some pork a villager had offered yesterday.
The dough had been kneaded before she started boxing fitness.
The audience found them busy in the kitchen very pleasing to the eye, and Elizabeth looked like she was very skilled in cooking.
Initially attracted by her appearance, the audience soon found themselves engrossed in her pizza-making skills.
In addition to the pizza, Elizabeth also prepared a pot of soup.
After assisting her, Raymond stood back and observed.
He found Elizabeth's focused and diligent demeanor while working very appealing and aesthetically pleasing.
As the pizza baked in the oven, the rest of the group began to wake up and prepare for the day.
Once the pizza was done, Raymond purposefully carried it to the table in the yard.
He beckoned Ronald and Nancy to join them for breakfast.
Elizabeth let him show off and brought out the soup as well.
Raymond took a slice of pizza first, "Let me taste Elizabeth's cooking."
He took a bite, savoring the flavor.
He quickly finished the slice in two bites, his eyes lighting up, "Yummy, this is the best pizza I've ever had!"
Ronald and Nancy, seeing this, each took a slice to try.
Their eyes also lit up, "Yummy, so tasty!"
When Eugene and Kevin returned from freshening up, they saw the three enjoying the pizza.
Raymond, eyeing them, purposefully took another bite of pizza.
Then, with a smug expression, he remarked, "It's a shame, such deliciousness, and all you can do is watch."
Eugene and Kevin's expressions darkened simultaneously, feeling a strong urge to punch Raymond.
