Chapter 293 So This Was Brenda's Stratagem
Enrique was pretty slick this time. He glanced at the bracelet on his wrist, feeling a bit freaked out. Better ditch this thing sooner rather than later.
So he turned to Brenda and said, "Hey Brenda, let's get Zachary to help us switch back the Generational Blessings. You take this bracelet back and wear it. After the show's over, we'll track down whoever put you up to this and see if they've got any tricks to keep you from getting more bad luck. The Clark Group's got a fortune-teller too. We can hit them up for help."
Brenda was quiet, thinking, 'He's always got the worst ideas. Those two fortune-tellers are nothing compared to Zachary.'
Enrique was trying to get her killed! She felt even more uneasy. Enrique didn't care if she got unlucky, listening to Raymond and Kevin's nonsense, wanting to switch the Generational Blessings now. She'd never like him again.
But she forced a smile and nodded. "Alright!" Then she looked at Zachary, adding, "We'll need your help next, Zachary."
Zachary could tell Brenda wasn't into it. She better keep her word, or else...
He said calmly, "After the show's over, you just need to pay a reward of five million dollars."
Enrique jumped in, "No problem, I'll pay."
Even though it hurt to fork over that much cash, money could be earned back; if the Generational Blessings couldn't be returned, it would be a mess. Plus, he really didn't want to be unlucky anymore.
Zachary asked the staff to bring a bowl with some clear water.
He told them, "Each of you drop three drops of blood into the bowl. Then write your birth time behind the camera. Also, pull out three strands of hair and toss them in."
Enrique didn't hesitate, using the fruit knife on the table to cut his fingertip, squeezing three drops of blood into the bowl. He also pulled out three strands of hair and threw them in. Then he handed the fruit knife to Brenda.
Brenda stood up reluctantly, reaching for the fruit knife. She held her finger over the bowl, staring at it. Then she bit down on a pill in her teeth, her face turning pale instantly. She raised her hand to her head, "I faint at the sight of blood." Then she swayed a few times and collapsed to the ground.
Raymond couldn't help but mock, "Her fainting spell sure came at the perfect moment."
Everyone and the live audience were silent. Brenda really fainted at the perfect moment.
Arthur was speechless. So, this was Brenda's game. All her fussing earlier was a waste of everyone's time.
"Get the medical staff to check on her," Arthur instructed.
Soon, the show's doctor went up to examine Brenda.
"She really fainted," the doctor said.
Arthur asked, "Can you tell why she fainted?"
The doctor replied, "It should be because of the sight of blood."
Arthur couldn't help but mock, "Her fainting spell turned out to be quite pivotal." He added, "Please help take her down to rest and look after her."
Brenda fainting so coincidentally meant they couldn't go on. They had to send her down to rest, or the show would be accused of being heartless.
Enrique just stood there, dumbfounded, as Brenda got carted off by the medics.
Kevin gave him a pat on the shoulder, saying, "Dude, getting your Generational Blessings back is gonna be a tough nut to crack. No matter how sweet she talks, saying she'll give it back and be all nice to you, if she doesn't actually do something, it's all just hot air." He then turned to Zachary and asked, "Zachary, you said the hardest part was if she was willing. Did you already know she wasn't?"
Zachary nodded. "Yeah, her eyes screamed 'no way.' And since she borrowed the Generational Blessings, why would she want to give it back?"
He was seriously grossed out by such fake people. If she didn't want to return it, she should've just said so from the start. Pulling this whole fainting act, did she think she could fool him? Did she think he didn't know she popped a pill to make herself pass out?
He then looked at Enrique and said, "So yeah, it's not gonna be easy to fix this."
Enrique's face turned red with embarrassment. So after all this, Brenda was just playing him. If she didn't want to return it, she could've just said so; he wouldn't have pushed her. They could've figured it out after the show.
But she said she wanted to be good to him, to return the Generational Blessings. Yet she pulled such an obvious stunt. What did that make him?
He asked Zachary, "If she doesn't want to return it, does that mean I can never get my Generational Blessings back?"
Zachary replied, "Not necessarily. If she's unwilling, we can use a forced method. But that would be more draining for me. And if we forcefully take it back, she'll suffer double the backlash. That means if you lose a third of your Generational Blessings and get unlucky, she'll get hit twice as hard. In terms of time, if you're unlucky for ten to twenty years, she'll suffer double.
After all, borrowing Generational Blessings isn't exactly a noble act."
He added with a smirk, "It depends on whether you can be ruthless enough."
He originally didn't want to forcefully take back the Generational Blessings. After all, from Brenda's sense of destiny, she had some connection with him. But she dared to play him, so she had to pay the price.
Elizabeth had been watching Zachary. She noticed he didn't really want to forcefully help Enrique at the start. That was why he suggested Brenda return it voluntarily. Resolving it that way was way easier than snatching back Generational Blessings.
But now, with his suggestion of a forced method, Brenda must've really ticked him off. So it seemed that Zachary was being petty and vengeful.
If Brenda knew she had pissed off Zachary, would she regret her actions?
If she returned it voluntarily, although she'd suffer backlash and bad luck, the people backing her might still find a way to help her out. Zachary probably wouldn't go too hard on her. If it was forcibly resolved, no method would work.
She looked at Enrique. Now it depended on whether Enrique was willing to let Brenda suffer double the backlash and bad luck.
