Chapter 145 We're Counting on You
Eugene wanted to team up with Elizabeth, but she turned him down, so he let it go.
Kevin saw Eugene was feeling down after getting rejected in front of everyone.
Arnold was just glad he didn't ask Elizabeth to team up, or he'd be embarrassed too.
Kevin noticed the awkward vibe and tried to lighten the mood. "Hey, the four of us together is awesome. More people, more money. We'll be living the good life."
Brenda, keeping her sweet demeanor, chimed in, "Yeah, let's give it our all, all four of us."
The production team took everyone's phones and handed out new ones, along with 250 Veridiania currency each, leaving the stars to figure things out.
Raymond asked Elizabeth, "What's the plan?"
"Let's eat first, then find a job to make some money, and stay somewhere nice tonight," Elizabeth replied.
Raymond grinned, "Sounds good. We need energy to work."
The new phones had an app for finding food, entertainment, and booking hotels. Raymond checked it out. "How about we spend all 750 Veridiania currency? There's a nice restaurant nearby."
Elizabeth nodded, "Exactly. Spend now, earn more later."
She turned to Gilbert, "What do you think?"
Gilbert, with one hand in his pocket, said lazily, "I'm in."
So, they decided to go for it.
They told Ronald's group and took a taxi to the restaurant Raymond found.
The others stayed quiet.
Ronald laughed, "Those three are really carefree."
Spending all the money right away wasn't his style.
Nancy laughed too, "That's why they get along."
She asked, "So, should we splurge or save?"
Ronald thought for a bit, "Let's save today. If we earn more later, we can upgrade."
Marlon agreed, "Yeah, let's save."
Knowing the production team's style, if they spent all their money and couldn't earn more, they wouldn't get any help.
Marlon worried about Elizabeth's group; they were strong-willed but also reckless.
Marlon's group found a cheap fast food place nearby and told Eugene's group.
The remaining four were still undecided.
Kevin asked, "What should we do?"
Eugene, not interested, said, "You guys decide."
Arnold suggested, "Let's splurge too."
He didn't want to eat cheap food or walk instead of taking a taxi.
Brenda agreed, "I believe we can make money, so let's have a good meal too."
If Elizabeth's group could do it, so could they.
Being in a big city with the freedom to make money and have fun was an advantage.
She believed they could earn more than Elizabeth's group.
So, they decided to spend on a good meal.
Brenda found a restaurant, and they took a taxi there.
The live stream was split into three.
Elizabeth's group had the most viewers, followed by Eugene's group, and then Ronald's group.
At the restaurant, Elizabeth's group calculated their money and ordered.
It was a high-end place, and their lunch cost 600 Veridiania currency.
The taxi ride cost them 17 Veridiania currency, leaving them with 133.
Brenda's group also hit up a high-end restaurant, spending 700 Veridiania currency.
Ronald's group, on the other hand, only spent 70 on their meal.
[The wealth gap is clear.]
[Ronald's group is now the richest.]
[The other two groups spent too much. If they can't earn money, will they have nowhere to stay tonight?]
[I believe Elizabeth can earn money, but the other group is questionable.]
[Arnold and his group are talented; they will definitely earn more money.]
Fans in the live chat debated which group would rake in the most cash today.
If they couldn't earn money, Elizabeth's and Eugene's groups would be in trouble.
After eating, Gilbert asked, "How are we making money this afternoon? Street performances?"
He'd seen many variety shows where stars made money by performing on the street or doing labor jobs like washing dishes.
Raymond grinned, "We're pretty good at singing and dancing."
He looked at Elizabeth, "You decide."
Just then, his phone rang. It was the production team.
They said street performances were allowed, and they could provide instruments, but only tips from foreigners would count. This was to prevent fans from just handing over money and ruining the game.
Raymond hung up and said, "With that rule, I don't think we'll make much by performing."
There were many street performers in Veridiania, making it tough to stand out.
Elizabeth wasn't surprised by the rule. Without restrictions, it would be too easy.
"I have an idea. There's a fencing club event on the app. If we win, first place gets 15,000 Veridiania currency, second place gets 10,000, and third place gets 5,000."
She stood up, "Let's aim for the top three and cover today's food and lodging."
Gilbert was shocked. "Fencing? I don't know how to fence!"
Raymond, knowing Elizabeth well, patted Gilbert's shoulder. "Doesn't matter if we don't know how. Elizabeth does. She'll help us. Don't worry."
He wasn't ashamed of getting rewards without effort; he was proud.
Other groups couldn't do this even if they wanted to.
Gilbert nodded, "That's great."
He looked at Elizabeth with a big smile, "We're counting on you."
Elizabeth smiled confidently, "Alright, I'll help. Once we get the money, we'll stay at the best hotel and have dinner at the most famous restaurant."
Since the theme was fun, they had to eat well, stay well, and have fun.
It would also give the audience a different experience from other variety shows.
Raymond and Gilbert stood up, "Great!"
The three of them took a taxi to the fencing club.
Meanwhile, Brenda's group decided to perform on the street.
They headed to a busy square.
