Chapter 133 This Made It Very Interesting

Rebecca was momentarily stunned and glanced at Elizabeth.

Seeing Elizabeth nod and point to the phone, she gave an OK gesture.

She then told Orlando, "Dad, I'm back for good. Not planning to go abroad again."

Orlando seemed more patient with Rebecca. "Did you have another fight with Hubert?"

Rebecca replied, "We broke up for good this time."

Orlando asked, surprised, "How did you two break up?"

Rebecca said, "He was messing around with Angela while still stringing me along. I've had enough. There are plenty of men out there, and I can live just fine without him."

She added, "There are plenty of good women out there too. No one is indispensable, so don't become a love-struck fool!"

Orlando chuckled. "Seems like you've really grown up. As long as you're happy. Hubert juggling two girls and the complexity of the Diaz family makes him a poor choice. I told you before he wasn't right for you, but you insisted on following him abroad."

In the past, Rebecca would have argued, saying he was no different with Amy.

But thinking about Amy's infidelity, she held back.

She said, "I understand now."

Orlando laughed. "You're beautiful and capable; you'll definitely find someone better than Hubert."

Rebecca lifted her chin. "Absolutely."

Then she said, "Dad, I'm not interested in love right now, but I'm very motivated about my career. Why don't you arrange for me to work at the Baker company? After all, I do have shares in it."

This was something Elizabeth had suggested she ask.

Orlando clearly didn't expect Rebecca to say this.

He was silent for a moment before saying, "It's not the right time yet. Wait a bit longer."

Rebecca pretended to be unhappy. "You're just like Mom, always favoring Percy."

Orlando wasn't angry; instead, he said, "Don't worry, what he has, you'll definitely have too."

He continued, "I have some urgent matters at the company, so let's talk later."

Rebecca knew he didn't want to continue this topic. "Alright, but you have to promise me one thing."

Orlando asked, "What is it?"

Rebecca said playfully, "You have to have a meal with me tomorrow, and I have my eye on a set of jewelry. You have to buy it for me."

Orlando, with a tone of helplessness and indulgence, said, "Alright, I'll take you to buy it tomorrow."

Rebecca laughed. "That's more like it. Goodbye!"

After hanging up, Rebecca looked at Elizabeth and asked, "Elizabeth, did you find something?"

Otherwise, why would Elizabeth suddenly suggest she ask to work at the Baker company?

She had never liked Percy, and now she didn't want to see him even more.

Elizabeth said, "I feel like Orlando knows something, and he called you not to ask for the divination artifact. Instead, he gave you a way to find Janet."

In the Baker family, Amy was most afraid of Janet.

Hearing this, Rebecca also realized.

She thought carefully. "That's true. Every time my mom asked my dad to discipline Eugene and me, he never went too far. It seemed like he was just putting on a show for my mom."

She said with a strange expression, "Do you think my dad already knows my mom cheated?"

Elizabeth said, "It's possible. Especially with what he said, like 'it's not the right time yet,' and 'what Percy has, you'll definitely have too.' I don't think Orlando is a love-struck fool."

If he really loved Amy and listened to her, he would've been stern or even ordered Rebecca to hand over the divination artifact during the call.

The most surprising thing was that Orlando actually gave Rebecca a way to find Janet.

He had to know Amy was most afraid of Janet.

This made it very interesting.

The more Rebecca thought about it, the more Elizabeth made sense.

She asked, confused, "Then why is my dad doing this?"

Because Amy cheated? He didn't know that.

Elizabeth thought for a moment. "There must be some hidden reason."

"And didn't you notice a coincidence?" she continued, "Percy, Brenda, and Angela are half-siblings. Same dad, three different moms."

Rebecca mocked, "Their dad is like a breeding pig, only knowing how to mate. But it does feel off; how could there be such a coincidence?"

She added disdainfully, "My mom must be blind to cheat with such a man and even have an illegitimate child."

But Elizabeth said, "She must know Brenda is that man's daughter; otherwise, she wouldn't take such good care of her. There are secrets here we don't know."

Rebecca nodded. "Definitely."

She asked, "Should I still remind my dad that my mom cheated?"

She had planned to remind Orlando during their meal tomorrow, to give him a heads-up.

Elizabeth thought for a moment and suggested, "You should still remind him, just to see if he knows. If he doesn't know, it will prepare him to guard against Amy and her son. If he knows, then you should stay out of it."

If Orlando knew and continued to endure, he must have his reasons and preparations.

Rebecca trusted Elizabeth very much. "Alright, I'll listen to you."

While they were talking, the document on Rebecca's phone finished downloading.

She opened it and showed a surprised expression again.

"Elizabeth, the investigator found out about Hubert and Angela. You'll never guess what their relationship is."

Elizabeth, curious, asked, "What is their relationship?"

Rebecca looked up and said, "They should be considered siblings."

Elizabeth was stunned. "Siblings? I did a divination last time; they have no blood relation."

Rebecca said with difficulty, "Angela is Hubert's stepmother Melissa Clark's daughter with her ex-husband. She brought Angela into the Diaz family when she married in. But Angela's identity was never made public; she stayed in the Diaz family as Melissa's niece."

Angela's identity indeed surprised Elizabeth.

Elizabeth rubbed her chin. "Hubert keeping Angela around must have a purpose."

Rebecca had told her that Hubert's days in the Diaz family weren't easy.

Melissa had another son, who was competing with Hubert for the heirship of Diaz family.

Hubert was taken care of by his grandfather, Wade Diaz; otherwise, he might have been ruined or harmed by Melissa.

Because of Wade's support, Hubert was able to go abroad to start a company and compete with his father, Otis Diaz.

Wade's shares also became something Hubert and Otis fought over.

No wonder Orlando said earlier that the Diaz family was too complicated and Hubert wasn't a good choice for Rebecca.

Or maybe Orlando knew something else?
