Chapter 134 He Doesn't Care Anymore
Hubert and Angela's relationship caught Rebecca and Elizabeth off guard.
Rebecca shrugged. "Who cares about his reasons? It's not my problem anymore. He once told me Angela was a relative."
She laughed, "So that's the kind of 'relative' she is."
Elizabeth patted her shoulder. "Like Orlando said, find someone better."
Rebecca nodded, "Whether he had reasons or not, he hurt me. It's over. Even if he begs, it's done."
If Hubert had reasons but couldn't be with her, why not just say it instead of stringing her along?
He made his choice, so she wasn't wrong to let go.
She was exhausted from this relationship and had truly moved on.
Elizabeth agreed, "I'm with you. Let's find someone better. And if we don't, being alone is fine too."
Elizabeth couldn't get back with Eugene either.
Though hurt by Eugene's choice, she was still open to love in the future.
Life is long, and having someone to share it with would be nice.
But if she couldn't find the right person, she'd be fine alone.
Rebecca smiled, "Right, find someone better to piss them off."
She asked, "Elizabeth, should I tell my dad you figured it out from their facial features?"
Elizabeth replied, "Sure, go ahead."
Her ability to divine was no secret.
Even without investigating Wayne, those people would have targeted her.
She had her suspicions about why they targeted her, and the Baker and Diaz family matters deepened them.
"Alright, I'll tell him."
Rebecca picked up her phone and dialed. "I'll complain to Grandma first and let her handle Amy."
Soon, a kind voice answered, "Rebecca, what's up?"
Rebecca put on a pitiful tone. "Grandma, Amy bullied me again. She wants me to give away an antique Grandpa left. I refused, so she pressured me using Dad. And she wants to give it to someone I hate, who seduced Eugene and caused Elizabeth's breakup."
Janet paused, then angrily said, "Amy's out of line. I thought Eugene's ex was nice. Amy had to interfere and break them up. She usually ignores you but now wants an antique? Shameless."
She instructed, "Ignore her. Don't give away anything Gary left you."
Rebecca continued pitifully, "I don't want to, but she went to Dad."
Janet said, "I'll handle it. If she or Orlando comes to you, tell them to talk to me."
Rebecca finally smiled, "Grandma, you're the best. Thanks. I'll come for dinner in a few days."
Janet said dotingly, "Alright, I'll have your favorite dishes made."
After hanging up, Rebecca smiled at Elizabeth, "It's settled."
Amy thought she was tough, but Janet put would her in her place.
What Elizabeth had taught her about using others' weaknesses really worked.
Elizabeth gave her an approving nod. "Nice job."
She paused and asked, "By the way, was Amy's delivery of Percy a C-section or natural birth?"
Rebecca replied, "C-section. Another reason she dislikes me and Eugene is because she had to have another C-section."
Elizabeth asked, "Do you know Percy's exact birth time?"
Rebecca shook her head. "I only know his birth date. My mom celebrates his birthday every year, so I remember."
But Amy never celebrated her and Eugene's birthdays. Orlando, however, remembered every year and sent them gifts.
Elizabeth said, "Try to find out his exact birth time."
She added, "Ask the PI you know to keep investigating Brenda and Angela. Find out if they were C-sections or natural births and get their exact birth times too."
Rebecca caught on quickly. "Are you suspecting something about their birth times?"
Elizabeth nodded, "If they were C-sections, the timing could be planned. If all three were C-sections, there's definitely something fishy."
Rebecca nodded, "I'll have him look into it thoroughly. Then I'll ask the servants who attended my mom's delivery."
After discussing this, they talked about the studio arrangements.
Meanwhile, Janet called Amy.
Not only did she scold her, but she also ordered Amy to return to the Baker Villa immediately.
Amy didn't dare defy Janet and had to pack her things and get a ride to the Baker Villa.
She was even more resentful and annoyed with Rebecca.
She also cursed Orlando for being useless, unable to control Rebecca.
Sitting in the car, Amy received a call from Brenda asking about the antique.
She placated Brenda for a bit, then hung up and called Eugene.
She wanted Eugene to ask Rebecca for a divination artifact and then give it to Brenda.
Eugene was at a café he used to frequent with Elizabeth, staring at photos of the two of them on his phone.
Hearing Amy's request, he didn't agree this time.
After Amy finished speaking, he didn't respond and directly hung up.
He couldn't help but think of what Rebecca had said.
Amy only contacted him when she needed something, acting friendly.
In the past, he lost his beloved Elizabeth for this fake and elusive motherly love.
Now, he didn't care for this kind of motherly love anymore.
Just after hanging up on Amy, he saw a call from Richard.
He declined the call.
Then Hubert called, and he declined again.
Meanwhile, in the Clark Group's underground parking lot.
Hubert heard the busy tone and said to Richard, "Eugene is really ignoring us now."
Richard scoffed. "He's always been this stubborn."
He had used meeting Eugene as an excuse earlier.
Hubert asked, "Should we go home then?"
Richard didn't want to go back. "Let's find a club to drink. If we go back, Brenda will pester me again."
He asked, "Aren't you afraid Angela will pester you if you go back?"
Hubert agreed, "I'm afraid too. Let's go to a club."
If he went back, Angela would indeed pester him, and he was annoyed just seeing her.
Richard curiously asked, "Did you ever have a thing with Angela?"
Hubert raised an eyebrow. "Do you think that's possible? I'm not crazy."
Richard was always puzzled. "Then why do you hang out with her all the time? No wonder Rebecca calls you a playboy. I think so too."
