Chapter 469 Who Could Stand Her Constant Drama?

At the Clark Family villa, Paul saw Betty's call and answered immediately. "Have you thought it through?" he asked.

Betty's voice was shaky as she cried, "Yes, I have. I was wrong before. I shouldn't have let Brenda stay just because of our years together. Paul, I want to come home. I won't let Brenda stay anymore. Let's not get divorced, okay?"

Paul hadn't expected her to call and back down, but this was indeed like her. He paused for a moment before replying, "I'm sorry, but it's too late. I just can't live with you anymore." The truth was, seeing Betty now filled him with a sense of repulsion.

Betty was stunned by his refusal. Her voice became sharper, "Is it because of Elizabeth? To please her, you all treat me like this. When she hadn't returned to our home, our family was so harmonious. Why did she have to come back, she..."

Paul cut her off, "Enough, I want a divorce. How can you drag Elizabeth into this? She's our biological daughter. It was because of Brenda that Piper took her away. Even if Elizabeth hadn't come back, as long as Brenda was around, she would cause trouble. We lost our Generational Blessings because of her, and one by one, we've had nothing but bad luck. Things could never go back to being harmonious. That so-called harmony was just a facade. Stop deceiving yourself." His last bit of sympathy vanished at Betty's resentful words about Elizabeth.

He took a deep breath and continued, "It's because of Brenda that I want a divorce. Stop blaming the wrong person every time. Elizabeth is no longer part of the Clark Family, so stop dragging her into everything." In his heart, Elizabeth was still his daughter, but in front of Betty, he could only say this to prevent her from blaming Elizabeth.

Betty was momentarily stunned, then shouted, "How could it be an act? I think you're the one blaming the wrong person."

Paul rubbed his temples and insisted, "Think whatever you want, but I'm determined to get this divorce. If you keep clinging on, I'll have to take some measures. If you don't believe me, check Facebook in a while. If you don't sign the divorce papers by tomorrow, I'll announce on the Clark Group's official page that I'm filing for divorce. Once that post is out, the media will dig up everything you've done without me saying a word."

Having been together for so many years, Betty knew Paul's character. Hearing his ruthless words, she felt so hurt and angry that her face turned pale. She also knew he was capable of doing such a thing. "Do you have to be so heartless to me?" she asked.

Paul sighed, "It's not that I'm heartless, but I just can't live with you anymore." Betty was so confused, and her personality was becoming sharper and meaner. In the future, when their sons got married, who could stand her constant drama? He was also thinking about preventing future problems.

Betty had a strong sense of pride. Paul had already said this much, and she knew it was useless to make a scene. She said through gritted teeth, "You're ruthless. I hate you!" After saying that, she didn't say whether she agreed to the divorce and hung up.

After a while, she checked Facebook. She saw Paul's post; he had simply written: [Getting a divorce.] The brevity of the message underscored his determination. He had announced their divorce to the public, making his resolve unmistakably clear.

Betty was very sad and kept crying. She had laughed at Amy before, but now she was going to be like Amy, becoming another joke in their circle. She had already lowered her pride to reconcile, but Paul's attitude remained firm. She was also afraid of her actions being exposed. And she had her pride; she couldn't bring herself to beg and cling. So she agreed to the divorce the next day.

She asked Paul to reprint the divorce papers and bring them to a nearby café. Paul didn't waste words. After sitting down, he took out the divorce papers and placed them on the table. Betty picked them up and looked through them. Sure enough, he was very generous with the assets. She decisively signed her name. Then Paul signed.

Paul held the divorce papers, feeling a pang of sadness, but he had no regrets. He reminded her earnestly, "Even though you might not want to hear this, and you might not listen, I still want to say it one last time: Brenda is not as filial and good to you as she appears. You need to be cautious around her. Especially when it comes to your assets, make sure you guard them yourself and don't let her deceive you."

Betty looked at him coldly and retorted, "That's none of your business, Mr. Clark."

Seeing her like this, Paul didn't say anything more. "Alright, goodbye then!" he said.

Betty didn't respond, and Paul left with his lawyer. Then the news of the Clark Group's chairman Paul and Betty divorcing due to irreconcilable differences was announced. People in their circle already knew because of Paul's Facebook post yesterday, while others were shocked.

Seeing the news of their divorce, Elizabeth felt nothing. These were their own choices. Then the next day, she went to sue Piper for kidnapping as a victim.

Meanwhile, at the Turner Family's home, Natalie blocked Piper at the door, not letting her in to bother Vincent.

Natalie snorted, "Shouldn't you be with the lover you've been infatuated with for years? What are you doing here? My half-brother works in the special department. If you want to be with that old man Ethan, I can ask him to help." Of course, this was just her sarcasm; she knew Piper wouldn't go.

Sure enough, Piper's face changed. She glared at Natalie, "I'm your mother. Do you have to say such things to upset me? I was deceived by him for so many years too. I'm a victim too! Let me in, I need to explain to your dad."

A few days earlier, Natalie had revealed that Ethan was the man Piper had loved for years. At first, Piper hadn't believed it. The Ethan she had loved was handsome and charming. Although he was in his forties, he looked and had the energy of someone in their twenties. How could he be that old man Ethan?

But Natalie had shown her a paternity test with Ethan and a video where he had admitted how many women he had been intimate with to steal the Generational Blessings and extend his life. Piper had found it hard to believe and couldn't help but go to the special department to see Ethan for herself. Through Percy, she had seen him.

Ethan had aged terribly and looked hideous, but he had admitted he was Piper's lover. He had also mentioned things only the two of them knew. Piper couldn't help but tear his clothes. From his back, she had seen the birthmark she used to deliberately scratch when they were together. She had broken down on the spot.

All thoughts of love and continuing to love him were thrown aside. Piper only felt disgusted that she had been deceived by an old man like Ethan for so many years.

Thinking it over, Piper realized Vincent was still the best. Especially after the divorce, her family had pestered her and taken most of her money. She didn't want to be alone and wanted someone to rely on.

Hearing that Vincent's illness had been cured, Piper had come to ask for reconciliation. But Vincent had coldly and ruthlessly refused, and Natalie had kicked her out. Every time she had come after that, Natalie would block her at the door. She had even spread the word about what Piper had done, making the neighbors gossip about her.

But Piper had endured it, with only one thought in mind: she wanted to remarry Vincent. She would never cheat again and would live a stable and honest life with him.
