Chapter 341 Surprisingly Not Falling for It
After Amy shot off that message, her phone buzzed almost instantly. When she picked up, she started bawling, spilling all her complaints. She went on about how Elizabeth had been treating her like dirt and begged the person on the other end to help her get back at her.
The guy on the other end had this deep, soothing voice that made Amy's heart race. She felt all warm and fuzzy inside. "Babe, I miss you!" she said, all sweet and needy.
He paused for a second, then said, "I miss you too."
Amy, pouting like a kid, whined, "You gotta come see me soon."
Clearing his throat, he replied, "Alright, I'll come by soon." Then he quickly switched topics. "Don't stress about Caleb. His crimes are out in the open now; there's no saving him."
Amy, still pouting, asked, "Not even you can save him?"
To her, this guy could do anything. He said, "I could, but it's such a big mess, I might get caught up in it. Should I risk it?"
When Amy heard that, she quickly said, "No, Caleb's gotta face the music. Let him learn his lesson."
She couldn't stand the thought of her man getting into trouble because of Caleb. It was about time Caleb dealt with his own problems.
The guy on the phone sweet-talked her a bit more before trying to hang up. But Amy wasn't done. "What should I do about Elizabeth? She's gone too far; I need to teach her a lesson."
He thought for a moment and asked, "What kind of lesson are you thinking?"
"I want to ruin her reputation," Amy said, laying out her plan.
He sighed, "She's a top-notch fortune teller and a badass fighter. Sending regular folks to kidnap her is just asking for trouble."
'Amy could be so clueless sometimes,' the man thought to himself.
If anyone else had said that, Amy would've ignored them. But coming from him, she thought it over and agreed. "So, what should I do, babe? You can't just let her walk all over me."
After a pause, he said, "To handle her, you need to go all out. I'll hook you up with an evil wizard. Reach out to him for help. But he's pricey—around ten million for a job."
Amy's eyes lit up. "Money's not an issue; I'll pay. Is he really that good?" She knew evil wizards were way stronger than any fortune teller.
"Yeah, he's the real deal. Taking down Elizabeth shouldn't be a problem," the man said.
Amy's mood lifted. "You're the best, babe." In the end, she could always count on him.
Soon after, Amy got a text with a phone number. This time, she played it smart. She had her assistant get an anonymous SIM card, and she used it to contact the evil wizard. But she was still fuming. So, she called Elizabeth and recorded the call on purpose. Elizabeth loved using recordings against people, so Amy figured she'd give her a taste of her own medicine.
Elizabeth was just about to hit the sack when she saw Amy's call. After a moment's thought, she picked up. "Mrs. Baker, what do you want now?"
Amy, fuming, snapped, "Elizabeth, you're too much, spreading rumors about the King Family online." She was trying to bait her. Maybe Elizabeth would slip up and admit it out of pride.
But Elizabeth was no fool. She knew Amy was probably recording the call. Even if she wasn't, Elizabeth wasn't about to say anything incriminating.
"What are you talking about? I don't get it," Elizabeth replied coolly.
Amy hesitated. "Isn't all that online stuff your doing? You said you wanted to mess with me, and then the King Family's dirt gets aired out online."
Elizabeth chuckled, "Mrs. Baker, you must be losing it. Maybe Mr. Baker should take you to see a shrink."
Amy was livid. Elizabeth had just called her crazy.
Trying a different tactic, Amy softened her tone. "Elizabeth, I'm begging you; don't do this. Caleb's already been caught. Can you let the King Family off the hook? If you take down the online stuff, I won't bother you anymore. I won't get in the way of you and Eugene."
She pleaded, "Just delete the fake evidence, and I'll do whatever you want."
Elizabeth laughed. Amy was getting crafty, trying to make it sound like the online stuff was fake. If Elizabeth admitted to it, Amy would definitely post the recording to clear her name. And if she admitted to hacking Caleb's Facebook, she'd out herself as a hacker.
"Mrs. Baker, I really don't know what you're talking about. Our phones don't even have internet access. I can't post anything, let alone see the evidence you're talking about. Maybe the King Family's done too many bad things, and someone exposed them. If that's the case, then good riddance," Elizabeth said, feigning helplessness.
Amy was so mad she could scream. Elizabeth was too smart to fall for it. Despite Elizabeth's denials and the fact that their phones couldn't access the internet during the live broadcast, Amy was convinced Elizabeth was behind it.
Her voice turned fierce as she questioned, "Are you really going to be our enemy?" Elizabeth actually enjoyed their family's downfall; how infuriating.
Elizabeth sneered, "You're the ones who keep coming after me. Your talent for false accusations is right up there with Brenda's. No wonder you two are like mother and daughter."
Amy was speechless; Elizabeth's words cut deep.
"Fine, just wait," she threatened coldly. "I hope you can still laugh in a few days. I won't let you off."
Elizabeth chuckled, "Alright, I'll wait and see how you make me cry."
This time, Amy hung up first because her recording was useless, so she didn't care. What she didn't know was that Elizabeth had also recorded the call. Everything Amy said was saved.
Back at the hotel, Elizabeth thought Amy sounded unusually confident today. It could only mean one thing: Amy had something planned. She saved the recording. If Amy tried anything, this recording would come in handy. It would also give Amy a taste of her own medicine. Elizabeth decided to stay on her guard.
