Chapter 140 Your Idea is Quite Devious

Rebecca got back to the apartment and filled Elizabeth in on her chat with Orlando.

Elizabeth wasn't shocked; she already knew Orlando wasn't just some love-struck fool.

He'd figured out the problem and had been playing along.

She had also suspected someone was after the Generational Blessings, setting up in several wealthy families.

Rebecca asked, "Elizabeth, do you think my mom's affair partner cursed her? Why else would Amy act so foolishly?"

Elizabeth replied, "I met your mom once, but I didn't see any signs of a curse. Orlando's not dumb, but Amy might be."

Rebecca sighed, "I figured. She's never been that smart, so it's no surprise she got tricked. Do you think you can break the curse on my dad?"

Elizabeth said, "Once my powers get stronger, I should be able to help Orlando. Even if I could break it now, I wouldn't. It'd tip them off. Orlando's endured for over twenty years; we can't waste that."

Rebecca nodded, "You're right."

She then asked, "Do you think Hubert knows about this?"

Elizabeth thought for a moment, "Judging by Hubert's behavior, he might know a bit."

Hubert was sharper and more cunning than Eugene and her brothers.

"He keeps Angela around, probably not just because she's Melissa's daughter," Elizabeth said.

Rebecca asked, "Should we team up with him to uncover this conspiracy?"

Since the people behind this were targeting the Baker, Clark, and Diaz families, wouldn't it be better to unite?

Elizabeth replied, "It's not the right time for the three families to join forces. Let's set up a private meeting with Hubert to feel him out. Don't mention Orlando; just say we found out Brenda and Angela are half-sisters."

Hubert was smart, and since Otis and Melissa wanted to get rid of him, he could be a potential ally.

Elizabeth added, "As for the Clark family, they trust Brenda too much. Working with them means Brenda would know too. So, let's hold off on that. We can team up with Paul later."

Rebecca nodded, "That's true."

Even Eugene couldn't be trusted with this info. If he sided with Amy, they'd be exposed.

"After your next variety show, if Hubert's still around, let's meet with him," Rebecca said.

It wasn't about lingering feelings for Hubert; she wanted to team up to deal with the conspiracy since Hubert was also caught in it.

Elizabeth smiled, "I was thinking the same."

They chatted a bit more.

Rebecca's phone beeped with a notification.

It was an MMS from an unknown number, and she knew who it was from.

She replied with a "noted."

"Elizabeth, my dad sent over a photo of Percy's birth certificate," Rebecca said.

She had called a servant who took care of Amy during her pregnancy at the Baker Villa to get some info.

She knew Percy's birth date but not the exact time, so she asked Orlando.

Orlando didn't remember, but their bedroom safe had all three birth certificates.

He promised to send it once he got home.

It seemed Orlando had a separate phone and new number to avoid those people.

Elizabeth looked at the time on the birth certificate and started calculating.

Elizabeth was stunned. "Someone born at this time should've died young. Percy shouldn't have lived past sixteen, but he's in his twenties. Either someone's been secretly extending his life, or he's being used as a medium."

Rebecca was confused. "Used as a medium?"

Elizabeth explained, "The people behind this want to steal the Baker family's Generational Blessings, which would shorten their lifespan and could backfire on them."

She further elaborated, "By using a medium to transfer the Generational Blessings first, they can convert it, making it less likely to backfire. Using someone who was supposed to die at sixteen as a medium is actually smart. They'd use witchcraft on the medium, letting him absorb part of the Generational Blessings and convert it into life. If there's any backfire, it would all fall on the medium, as long as nothing goes wrong."

Rebecca got it. "So, Percy is likely the medium."

If his biological father used him as a medium, then Percy was really pitiful.

Elizabeth nodded, "I think so too. This shows the people behind this are extremely cautious and have been planning for a long time."

Rebecca agreed, "So we need to be careful too."

She deleted the photo from her phone.

Elizabeth used hacker techniques to erase all traces of Rebecca and Orlando's messages and deletions.

That night, Elizabeth made a charm, strung it on a cord, and had Rebecca wear it around her neck. The charm was waterproof and fireproof, so she didn't need to take it off even when bathing.

In the following days, Elizabeth was busy helping Emily secure the lead female role. With her efforts, Emily got a chance to audition. Emily did well and landed the role, thwarting Clark Entertainment's plan to place their people in the show.

Someone was unhappy and complained to Loren. Loren was already troubled by Elizabeth, so what could he do? They wanted him to ask Elizabeth to give back the lead role. They really overestimated him. He and his brothers had no influence over Elizabeth at all. He knew this well.

This incident also made the shareholders dissatisfied with Elizabeth. They thought she was a Clark family member, so why was she always opposing Clark Entertainment? It was too much. They asked Loren to coordinate with Elizabeth.

Loren called Richard for his opinion. After hearing the situation, Richard had an idea. "We could give it a try. Arnold is going to be on the same variety show as Elizabeth tomorrow. Have the company's executives talk to him and ask him to discuss with Elizabeth to stop targeting our company."

Arnold and Enrique liked to pass troublesome tasks to others. Since that was the case, let them handle this trouble themselves.

Loren raised an eyebrow. "You got him the spot?"

He had been busy lately and didn't know about this. From Richard's tone, it seemed confirmed.

Richard said, "He insisted on going, and I couldn't stop him. He said if I didn't help him, I wasn't loyal. What could I do?"

Loren knew Arnold's personality. "Is he out of his mind?"

Richard retorted, "His mind has never been right."

Loren sighed, "Your idea is quite devious."

This was essentially sending Arnold to get scolded by Elizabeth.

Richard smiled meaningfully, "Don't you think it's a good idea? If you don't, you could go talk to Elizabeth yourself and then explain to the shareholders."

Loren laughed, "No, I think it's a great idea."

Such a mission should indeed be left to Arnold.
