Chapter 195 They Had No Regard for Their Dignity
Inside, there was a folded piece of paper. She took it out and opened it.
She found a lock of hair sandwiched in the middle of the paper.
The note read, "This is Brenda's hair. Keep it safe; you'll definitely need it in the future. With your abilities, you could see through the relationship between Brenda and me. As for why I'm doing this, besides really liking your personality, it's also because I have someone I want to protect."
Elizabeth read the note. There was no signature, but she surmised it was from Natalie.
Natalie sending Brenda's hair was quite a surprise. Natalie had been adamant about the importance of Brenda's hair, suggesting she knew something others didn't.
Elizabeth didn't believe Natalie sent the hair for her to use a curse on Brenda. No, there had to be another motive. This gesture only deepened Elizabeth’s earlier suspicions.
She figured that once she returned to the country, the investigation results would be out, and everything would become clear.
Elizabeth drew a spell scroll and placed Brenda's hair inside. Then, she folded it into a triangle and tucked it into the wallet's compartment. She also felt that she would need it in the future.
When Elizabeth left the Clark family, she had actually thought about taking a few strands of Brenda's hair.
But she was sure that Brenda must have been warned. So she was always careful not to leave any hair anywhere and was very cautious not to bleed.
At the racetrack, Elizabeth heard that Brenda had bumped her head. Elizabeth had found an excuse to go to the stands to see if she could collect Brenda's blood.
However, by the time she got there, the blood on the steps had been cleaned up completely.
If it wasn't Samuel, it must have been those people who specialize in monitoring live streams.
Those people seemed very worried and vigilant, afraid that she would get Brenda's blood.
It was hard for Elizabeth not to overthink it.
The next day, Elizabeth and her group still took everyone out to have fun.
In the afternoon, they went to an Internet café to practice.
Natalie's group continued to act as tour guides and translators at other task points.
Another day passed.
Two groups went to the Internet café to participate in a competition after lunch.
They had registered two days ago.
It was a game with multiple map backgrounds, and the teams would enter the map they drew.
Each team had five members, each with a different role.
Raymond was the sniper, Elizabeth was the medic, Gilbert was the assault, Marlon was the support, and Nancy was the demolition expert.
There were initial matches, semi-finals, and finals.
The initial match had one map; the winning team would advance to the semi-finals.
The semi-finals had three maps; winning two would advance to the finals.
The final had five maps, meaning it was a best-of-five.
When the two groups arrived at the Internet café, they found many people had already gathered there.
This game was popular worldwide, with annual competitive tournaments.
There were many players in the country. Knowing that Raymond and others were participating in the Internet café competition, many tuned into the livestream.
The traffic from game players was enormous.
Raymond, a former world champion in a tower defense eSports game, had a global fanbase. Now competing in a different game, many fans still watched to see if he could lead his team to victory.
Soon, the number of viewers in the livestream doubled, setting a new record.
Arthur brought the production team to the Internet café to watch.
He also communicated with the café's manager, who allowed them to set up a makeshift studio for a live reaction stream.
Seeing the record-breaking viewership, Arthur was giddy with excitement.
The other group of four, who had been tour guides in the morning, also came to the Internet café in the afternoon.
The competitors were in a designated area, and viewers couldn't enter.
The Internet café had a big screen that would broadcast the entire game competition.
Eugene and the others took their seats.
Since the competition hadn't started yet, they chatted.
"So, what do you guys think?" Arnold asked, leaning back in his chair. "Think Elizabeth and the team have a shot at this thing?"
Kevin, who often played this game, replied, "Honestly? It's gonna be tough."
Then he analysed, "Raymond's skills should be good, but the other four are hard to say. Especially if they draw a difficult map, they might lose in the initial match."
Eugene, who usually didn't play computer games but occasionally played mobile games with Elizabeth and Rebecca during school, frowned. "Seriously? That tough, huh?"
If they lost so easily, he wondered if people online would mock and ridicule Elizabeth and her team.
Kevin nodded. "So it all depends on their luck."
Arnold, who also played this game, chimed in, "I think so too. I've studied it; there are three teams that, although amateur, have skills comparable to professional teams. So Raymond's team might lose today."
Natalie, hearing this, retorted, "Nah, I think they've got this. I've seen the four of them play games in the Internet café before. Raymond's skills are impressive, and Elizabeth's medic role isn't bad either. Although the other three are relatively weaker, I think they can be salvaged."
Kevin raised an eyebrow and teased, "Are you saying this because you're an Elizabeth fan?"
Natalie rolled her eyes and retorted, "I’m not! I'm serious! They've got this underdog thing going on. Besides," she added, "it's not like you guys are giving them much credit. What's Elizabeth gonna say if she hears you doubting her skills?"
Kevin and the other two were silent. Natalie was really something. Could she just make things up like that?
Elizabeth must not misunderstand them!
The three immediately shook their heads. "No, no, no! That's not what we meant at all."
Eugene was the first to defend himself. "I don't play this game, but I feel they're gonna win this whole thing."
Kevin and Arnold looked at Eugene in silence. He was just making things up.
To make Elizabeth happy, Eugene had no regard for his dignity.
Then Kevin chimed in, "I don't look down on them, nor do I hope they lose. What I mean is, if they can win this game under such difficult circumstances, that would be amazing."
He added, "I think with Elizabeth's medical support, they have a good chance of getting first place."
As for Raymond, he deliberately ignored his name.
Arnold looked at Kevin in a daze. These two had no dignity!
Then he smiled and nodded in agreement. "With Elizabeth, they're gonna win this whole thing. I have high hopes for them. Elizabeth's medic skills are top-notch. Way better than mine, and I've been playing this game for years. Losing in the initial match is absolutely impossible. Elizabeth will win all the way to the finals."
Eugene and Kevin were silent. Arnold had no shame.
Then the two immediately started praising Elizabeth.
Arnold cursed them for being hypocrites and then joined in praising Elizabeth.
Natalie was completely shocked by their words. As an Elizabeth fan, she was outdone by them. They had no regard for their dignity.
Fans and viewers watching the livestream laughed at their words.
Fan 1: [OMG, they folded like lawn chairs!]
Fan 2: [The survival instinct is strong with these ones. ]
Fan 3: [Poor guys, they never stood a chance against Natalie's teasing.]
Fan 4: [All I can say is that Elizabeth is amazing!]
