Chapter 405 Should He Give It or Not?
Elizabeth shot a glance at Cassius, who didn't seem fazed by the cemetery problem. "Did someone tip you off about this before?" she asked.
Cassius didn't hold back. "Yeah. My parents had back-to-back accidents and ended up in the hospital. I met this fortune teller there. He told me I was on a bad luck streak and that my family would keep having accidents. I brushed him off at first. Then my son got really sick and was hospitalized too. I ran into the fortune teller again and decided to ask him about it. He said there was something wrong with my family's cemetery. If we didn't fix it, my wife would be next, then me. He was adamant that my whole family would suffer unless we sorted it out. This time, I believed him and asked him to check out the cemetery."
Cassius took a breath and went on, "Of course, hiring a fortune teller isn't free, so I asked what he wanted. He didn't want money. Instead, he knew about my antique collection and wanted one in exchange. I thought it over and took him home to pick something out. He specifically asked for the Heritage Cauldron, a family heirloom. I couldn't part with it right away, so I hesitated. He left me his contact info and told me to call if I changed my mind. His only condition was the Heritage Cauldron. But it felt too coincidental, like he already knew about it. No one outside the family had ever seen it, yet he pointed right to where it was hidden and asked for it. The more I thought about it, the more it felt off."
He looked at Elizabeth. "When you reached out to my assistant about getting a role for your studio's artist, I remembered hearing about your reputation as a skilled fortune teller. That's why I wanted to meet you."
Cassius had been in the entertainment industry for years and had seen a lot of shady stuff. The fortune teller's timing was too perfect, so he didn't fully trust him. He suspected the guy might have other motives.
Elizabeth's skills in fortune-telling and spells during her live streams gave Cassius some hope, so he set up the meeting. If Elizabeth hadn't contacted his assistant first, this wouldn't have happened.
After his wife broke her leg and ended up in the hospital, he would've called the fortune teller. If the guy really fixed his family's problem, he would've reluctantly given up the Heritage Cauldron. After all, no heirloom is worth more than family.
But since he had arranged to meet Elizabeth, he decided to see her first. And before he even mentioned the issue, Elizabeth had already picked up on his family's problem. This made Cassius glad he didn't cancel the meeting.
Elizabeth frowned a bit after hearing his story. "The fortune teller's timing does seem a bit too convenient. Can I take a look at your Heritage Cauldron?"
She felt like the fortune teller had planned everything and was so confident, as if Cassius had no other choice but to go to him. This made Elizabeth curious about the Heritage Cauldron.
Cassius said, "Sure thing. How about I take you to my place now to check out the Heritage Cauldron?"
He was super anxious, given all the accidents his family had been having. According to the fortune teller, this was just the start. If they didn't fix the cemetery issue soon, his family would keep suffering.
Elizabeth nodded. "Alright, let's head to your house. Quentin, you coming with us or going back to the studio?"
Quentin, curious about Elizabeth's fortune-telling skills, had only seen her in action during live streams and wanted to see it up close. He smiled, "I'll come with you."
Elizabeth said, "Cool."
At Cassius's villa, he led them to his collection room. After triggering a hidden mechanism in the wall, he pulled out a wooden box and opened it on the table. "This is the Heritage Cauldron, Ms. Clark. Can you tell if it's useful to the fortune teller?" he asked.
From an antique value perspective, the Heritage Cauldron wasn't as pricey or valuable as many items on the shelves in the collection room. So, Cassius figured the fortune teller had a special reason for wanting it.
Elizabeth looked at the Heritage Cauldron, her eyes widening slightly. She sensed strong waves of both karma and evil coming from it. And these two auras didn't clash but coexisted harmoniously.
Using her internal energy, she saw the harmonious coexistence of white and black auras swirling inside the Heritage Cauldron.
She remarked, "This thing is definitely a treasure for a fortune teller. If used right, it can protect a lot of people. If used to harm, it can bring disaster. This has been in your family for generations, bringing many benefits. It was specially made by a fortune teller at your ancestors' request and nurtured by your family's Generational Blessings over time. Keeping it at home helps ensure family prosperity, which is why your family has stayed wealthy for so many generations. Without the Heritage Cauldron, your family would have faced misfortune. So, I suggest keeping this item safe."
Cassius was a well-known director who loved doing charity work. He and his wife would go to impoverished areas every year to help elderly people and kids who couldn't afford school. They had also donated to several medical charity funds for many years. They did this for ten years without high-profile publicity, genuinely and not for show.
Elizabeth found the accumulated blessings of the Blackwood Family in the Heritage Cauldron. So, Cassius doing charity work was also good for himself.
The Heritage Cauldron was a top-tier magical item, no wonder the fortune teller wanted it. For fortune-telling and spellcasting, its amplification effect was exceptional.
After hearing Elizabeth's words, Cassius felt enlightened, understanding things he hadn't before.
No wonder the Blackwood Family's ancestral teachings emphasized doing good deeds and guarding the Heritage Cauldron. It turned out that the Heritage Cauldron was nurtured by the Generational Blessings of many generations of his family.
He asked, "Ms. Clark, can you help with my family's cemetery issue?"
Elizabeth nodded. "Of course."
Cassius hesitated before asking, "What do you want as payment?" He hoped it wouldn't be the Heritage Cauldron, as that would put him in a tough spot. Should he give it up or not?
