Chapter 421 The Conflict Shifted to Him

Brenda was just waiting for Betty to ask. She sighed, "Mom, just check Facebook."

Betty looked confused as she grabbed her phone and started scrolling through her Facebook feed. "There's nothing here," she said, looking even more puzzled.

Brenda got it right away. Her three troublemaker brothers had blocked Betty from seeing their posts. Her face twisted into a weird expression. "Oh."

Seeing Brenda's reaction only made Betty more curious. "Let me see your phone."

Inside, Brenda was kinda pleased, but she hesitated on the outside. "Mom, it's... It's not something you'd want to see," she said, trying to look conflicted.

Betty's patience was running out. "Brenda, what can't I see?" Her tone was sharp, leaving no room for argument.

With a helpless sigh, Brenda handed her phone to Betty, showing her the posts.

Betty's face darkened instantly, her eyes blazing with anger. She scolded, "Those ungrateful sons! Aren't they supposed to be working? They told me they were recording new songs or joining a film crew. But they're with Elizabeth, enjoying a trip! How dare they block me!"

Betty's fury grew with each passing second, and she started cursing loudly. "Those ungrateful sons, those bastards!" The betrayal cut deep; she was their mother, and yet they avoided her to seek approval from Elizabeth, who clearly didn't care for them.

Loren heard Betty's cursing and showed a bit of speechlessness in his eyes. Betty's cursing was too harsh; how could she curse her sons like that? He couldn't help but interject, his voice calm yet firm. "Mom, maybe they didn't mean it like that. Getting too angry won't help your health..."

Before he could finish, Betty vented her anger on him. She interrupted, "You actually speak up for them. Do you also want to be like them? And you say getting too angry won't help my health. If they didn't anger me, I wouldn't be cursing them. Do you also wish I would get sick and go to the hospital?"

Betty vented her pent-up frustrations on Loren, escalating her tirade until she exhausted herself. "You... get out," she snapped finally, waving him away.

The cursing dumbfounded Loren. But he knew Betty was in a bad mood, so he kept enduring it. Hearing her tell him to get out, he felt a mix of relief.

He immediately left quickly. At the same time, he understood why his younger brothers' words and looks had been so meaningful back then. It turned out Betty was really hard to deal with!

Recently, Loren had been busy at the company, but Betty insisted he come back every day to have dinner with her. If he declined, Betty would cry and say he was the only son she could rely on and just wanted to see him.

He had no choice but to come over and have dinner with Betty. After dinner, he would go back to the company to work overtime, exhausted.

Now, he just tried to persuade Betty not to get too angry for her health. Who would have thought the anger would be directed at him? He really had endured too much.

After Loren left, Betty was still not calmed down. Brenda hinted at her. So Betty started calling her three sons one by one, scolding each of them harshly.

The three of them put their phones on silent and tossed them aside. After Betty finished her rant and got no response, she started calling out their names. Still nothing. She figured out what her sons had done.

She was so mad she felt dizzy and asked Brenda to help her back to her room. If this kept up, she'd end up in the hospital from all the stress those ungrateful sons were causing.

Once in her room, Betty called Paul to vent, hoping for some support. It was also a good excuse to patch things up. But Paul didn't hold back. "It's your fault they're distant," he said bluntly. He was actually glad the three sons and Elizabeth seemed to be getting along better. That comment made Betty even angrier, and she hung up after giving him a piece of her mind.

Brenda, seeing an opportunity, comforted Betty and hinted that she needed some money.

Betty was so dizzy with anger that she didn't ask why Brenda needed so much cash. She just felt like everyone in the family, except Brenda, was against her and didn't care about her. So she handed Brenda a card with millions on it. After Brenda left, she tried to hide her smile and muttered a few complaints out of habit.

Meanwhile, the Clark brothers, not bothered by Betty's tantrums, suspected Brenda had snitched on them.

They had blocked Brenda before. But they didn't know what she had told Betty. Those days at dinner, Betty insisted they restore her as a Facebook friend. She even watched them, and if they didn't do it, they'd get scolded again.

They figured Brenda couldn't do much harm through Facebook. So they restored her as a friend and took her off the blacklist.

Too lazy to block her again, they decided to keep posting. Let her see it and get pissed off. If she had so much energy, she could keep complaining to Betty. If Betty didn't want to see them, it would save them trouble when they went back to Clifftonshireburg.

On the other side, Elizabeth was busy with her plans. Reviewing surveillance footage, she caught Brenda's incriminating actions and petty complaints, planning to send the video to Betty later to expose Brenda's true nature.

The next day, Elizabeth and her group drove to Shadow Peak to camp overnight. She noticed the evil wizard following them left when they reached the foot of the mountain.

This evil wizard had been tailing them since the trip started. He had an energy fluctuation, indicating he was one of Ethan's subordinates.

The evil wizard probably wasn't suspicious of her trip's purpose. She guessed he was just figuring out the best place to make a move on her.

Now that he left, he might be about to act. She wasn't worried; as an advanced diviner, dealing with him would be a piece of cake.

Not long after they went up the mountain, Eugene and his group of five followed. They also brought camping gear, planning to hang out nearby.

Elizabeth noticed them but didn't care. If they insisted on following, she'd let them deal with the evil wizard Amy had hired first. After they were taken care of, she'd step in.
