Chapter 402 Let's Do It Completely
Maria was so mad she felt dizzy. They were just trying to help Betty by getting rid of Brenda, that troublemaker, to fix things between Betty and her son. But Betty acted like they were attacking her. With a frosty look, she snapped, "If you don't kick Brenda out, don't even think of calling me your mother anymore."
Phineas jumped in, "What your mom said goes for me too. If you keep hanging out with Brenda, you're no daughter of mine. Don't even think about coming back to this family."
Betty's heart sank. She shot back, "You guys are too much. Do you want me to suffer and die from the poison bug just to be happy? This can be fixed easily, but you keep blaming me. Brenda hasn't hurt any of you, so why are you going after her? She's my daughter, and I'm not abandoning her."
Phineas was livid. Betty was so ungrateful. He pointed to the door, "If you can't let go of Brenda, then you're letting go of us. Leave, and don't come back."
Betty glared at him, thinking her parents were siding with others over her. They were so heartless. She didn't believe they were serious; they were just trying to scare her. How could they actually disown her? Even if Elizabeth treated her like this, as long as Elizabeth apologized later, Betty could still accept her back. After all, Elizabeth was her biological daughter.
So Betty stubbornly said, "Fine, I'll leave. I'll prove to you that I'm not trying to harm Zephyr. I'll find a master diviner to get rid of the poison bug."
With that, she turned on her high heels and stormed out. Staying any longer would just be awkward and uncomfortable. They didn't understand her and were forcing her. Phineas's words gave her an excuse to leave quickly. They were angry now, and anything she said would be wrong. Once the diviner helped Zephyr, her family would calm down and forgive her.
Seeing Betty leave, Phineas almost collapsed from anger. He said through gritted teeth, "That ungrateful daughter! My family can't afford someone like Betty. If she comes back crying with regret, I won't acknowledge her."
If Betty kept this up, she would harm both the Clark and Anderson families. Since she chose to leave, Phineas would show her that cutting ties wasn't just talk; they were serious.
He told Leon, "Leon, when you get home, tell all the relatives that Betty's no longer part of the Anderson family. And inform Paul. Stop the project we were planning to collaborate on while the losses are still small. Since she chose Brenda, let her live with Brenda from now on."
Since Betty wouldn't listen to those who genuinely cared about her and insisted on stirring up trouble, she'd have to face the consequences herself.
Linda, who was close to Betty, still hoped she'd come back to the Anderson family. She shot Thaddeus a look and tried to calm things down, "Mom, Dad, let's not go overboard. This isn't worth cutting ties over."
Thaddeus chimed in, "Yeah, once everyone cools down, it won't seem like such a big deal. Let's not drag Paul and the Clark Group into this. No need to make it so severe." He had plans to take over the project with the Clark Group himself and couldn't let it fall apart.
Phineas saw right through their little schemes. With a stern face, he said, "If you keep pleading for her with all these little schemes, you can get out of my family too. I'll go back and divide the family assets, and you can take your share and leave."
Thaddeus was pretty useless, and Linda was a troublemaker too. Phineas used to think about letting Leon's family take care of Thaddeus's family more. Now, it seemed he really had to consider splitting the family assets.
Thaddeus and Linda's faces changed instantly. Thaddeus quickly said, "Fine, whatever you say. If you don't want to acknowledge Betty, so be it. Her actions are too much."
Phineas's anger boiled over. Thaddeus had no real backbone. It was clear he was only concerned about his own interests. Linda didn't dare say anything more, fearing Phineas would really kick them out.
Leon was also furious at Betty's attitude. She made it seem like they were the ones in the wrong. He nodded, "Alright, I'll notify the relatives and Paul when I get home. I also think there's no need to continue the project with the Clark Group. If we're cutting ties, let's do it completely."
Betty harmed Zephyr and thought just cutting ties would be enough? Leon couldn't calm down without venting his anger. And that Brenda, always causing trouble from behind the scenes. He wanted to see how Paul would handle this situation.
Ruth agreed from the side, "Yes, if we're cutting ties, let's do it completely. I'll also inform my family not to cooperate with the Clark Group anymore." Call it spite or revenge, but there was no need to have any dealings with the Clark family anymore.
Richard sighed, knowing things had reached a boiling point. Betty's stubbornness had pushed the entire family to its breaking point.
Kevin, sensing an opportunity, spoke up, "Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Leon, Aunt Ruth, don't cut ties with us. We're abandoned by her too."
Phineas chuckled, "Don't worry, I still acknowledge you grandchildren." He turned to Elizabeth, "And despite everything, Elizabeth, you're always welcome in my family."
Elizabeth gave a small smile but stayed silent. The Anderson family was serious this time. Betty's actions had led to her being disowned by her family.
