Chapter 359 She Did It on Purpose
Brenda didn't realize how bad things were until the robe smacked her in the face. She played along, nodding. "Alright, I'll do as you say." Then she weakly reached out and put on the robe.
Once she was dressed, Gregory grabbed her hand. Using his energy, he cut her finger and pulled out a spell scroll, drawing on it with her blood.
Her arm throbbed from his grip, and her finger stung. She cursed silently, 'Gregory's so rough, treating a beautiful woman like me so roughly.' But deep down, she knew he was her only hope.
Gregory finished drawing on the spell scroll, chanted some incantation, and slapped the scroll onto Brenda. He then formed a seal with his hands, following her blood to the oil lamp that belonged to her.
He cast a spell and shouted, "Extinguish!" He aimed to snuff out the oil lamp, breaking Zachary's spell.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, Elizabeth was focused on the oil lamp. She sensed a strange energy trying to mess with Brenda's lamp. Just as it was about to go out, she channeled her energy to suppress it and yelled, "Get lost!" She did it on purpose.
At the same time, Gregory heard a powerful voice, "Get lost!" echo in his mind. He felt a sharp pain in his chest and coughed up blood.
His face turned pale. "Damn it!" The person on the other side was a master. The voice sounded like Elizabeth's.
With a grim look, he wiped the blood from his mouth, created another spell scroll, and slapped it onto Brenda, shouting, "Explode!"
The spell scroll burst into flames, making Brenda jump. Gregory's cold stare made her sit back down, trembling.
Gregory pulled out a dagger from his chest, surrounded by a thick aura of death. He gathered all his energy, forming seals with his hands, chanting incantations, and used the dagger's evil aura to attack.
On the other side, Elizabeth noticed Gregory's attack. She took out a seal filled with evil aura and immediately mobilized it. Not only did she disperse Gregory's evil aura, but she also counterattacked.
Gregory's cultivation level seemed higher than Elizabeth's, but his actual strength wasn't. After her counterattack, he felt his whole body burning with evil aura, coughed up more blood, and his face turned even paler. His chest burned painfully.
He couldn't believe it. "How is this possible?"
He had already guessed that the person opposing him was Elizabeth. Thinking he was far superior, he believed he could protect Brenda from the curse's backlash and seriously injure Elizabeth. But instead, he was the one who got hurt.
He couldn't understand it; back in Aevum City, he had walked past Elizabeth to gauge her power and had clearly sensed he was stronger.
At that moment, Zachary stopped forming seals. He used his index finger to draw circles on the two paper figures. After drawing forty-nine circles, his eyes sharpened. "Break!"
Paul and the others watched as the two paper figures suddenly burst into flames.
At the same time, Elizabeth pointed at the two oil lamps. "Switch!"
They saw the spell scrolls on the oil lamps catch fire too. The flames on the lamps flickered, emitting a strange blue light, and shot up high. Maybe it was just their imagination, but they thought they saw shadows of Brenda and Enrique within the flames. Then, the two soaring flames in the sky began to merge, with Enrique's flame relentlessly consuming Brenda's.
Brenda, who had seen Gregory spit blood twice and turn pale, was already terrified and had a bad feeling. Did Gregory fail? Was he that useless?
Just as she thought this, she suddenly collapsed to the ground, her face changing drastically, her whole body trembling. She felt the Generational Blessings on her body being forcibly torn apart and drilling out.
Her face was full of fear as she screamed, "No!"
She couldn't imagine what she would be like if these Generational Blessings were to dissipate.
"Ah, it hurts so much!" she screamed as she felt like her whole body was being torn to pieces, rolling on the ground in pain.
Seeing this, Gregory's face changed again. "It's over!"
This was the reaction of the spell being broken. He couldn't stop it at all.
His initial reaction was one of astonishment—had Elizabeth really grown this powerful? He could also manage to break such a spell, but it would deplete most of his energy and require a considerable amount of time. Any interruption could easily lead to failure, and even without disturbances, it would take a long time to sustain the effort required.
But how much time had Elizabeth spent? It was astonishingly brief. Even his mentor could not accomplish it so swiftly.
Then he felt uneasy. Damn, this spell was cast by his teacher. If he couldn't stop it and let the other party successfully break the spell, his teacher would also be counterattacked.
At this moment, in a building where a high-ranking member of the Divination Association lived, a man who was meditating suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and his face turned pale.
The man's face changed. "Who broke my spell!"
Then he was counterattacked by the spell, and his originally young and handsome face full of collagen began to change. His skin darkened, and more wrinkles appeared on his brows and the corners of his eyes. His black hair also started to turn white. He aged several decades in an instant.
The man was so angry that his face twisted as he shouted, "Damn it, I won't let you off."
The youthful appearance he had worked so hard to maintain was reversed by this severe counterattack. This made him feel heartbroken and furious.
He lit a spell scroll and shouted to Gregory, who was guarding Brenda, "Get over here!"
In the room, Gregory heard his teacher's angry voice and turned even paler. He paid no heed to Brenda, who was still writhing on the ground, her visage aged by two or three decades due to the backlash, her breath feeble and waning.
Clutching his chest, enduring the torment of his injuries, he immediately opened the door and strode out with haste.
